This is what happens when you don’t listen
If you would’ve come to Miguel two days ago and told him that he’d be snooping around alchemax to try and find the blueprints for a portal that was shut down months ago just to help out a fifteen year old kid stuck out of his universe or else his dad would die, well… he’d probably believe you.
His life has been a cycle of absolute chaos ever since he decided to try and turn his life around and make a better person of himself, even though everytime he does a good thing the universe rewards him with the opposite.
Crazy how Karma works.
The universe is finally paying him back for his behavior for the last twenty years, the blows never stop, Dana’s dead, his brother- well, half brother due to recent news, won’t look him in the face again, he has no idea what his mom is up to, and Xina left town.
He is, quite literally, alone in this.
And maybe that’s why he wants to help Miles out.
He could’ve simply ignored him and let him figure out his situation on his own, he could have just not chased after him when he was running away, he’s most certain that he would’ve done that if it was his early spider-Man days, when his biggest worry was trying to get rid of the powers that started all of this.
But right now?
It feels wrong to do that.
The kid didn’t give off much information, but from what he can assume, Miles is alone in this, trying to save his dad while being chased around by a… what did he call them again?
‘An elite strike force of spider-people’
Yeah, that’s a scary situation to be put in, and it’s especially worse when you’re in it alone.
He knows the feeling, and that’s why he is at Alchemax right now, and he has no idea where these people stored the information to that shocking portal, god why did this company just need to have so many projects that looking for this one feels like searching for a pin in a pile of hay.
Arriving early has given him the advantage of less people being around to suspect his odd behavior of being outside of his normal workspace.
Although he does feel like he’s being… watched, followed, not alone, it’s weird, he’s been looking over his shoulder for the entire hour he’s been here, completely unaware of the invisible presence that’s been following him all day.
Miles couldn’t just sit and wait in Miguel’s apartment, waiting has done him no good, and the hour is ticking, his dad’s life is on the line he can’t risk anything.
So while Miguel was searching, Miles decided to explore a little, get a lead on things. It should be easy, as long as he stays invisible and out of the way of everyone then it won’t be hard.
Miguel said something about a portal right? What if he looked for it, yeah he’ll do that, this building is big but it shouldn’t take much time right?
——
“Where could he be!” Gwen exclaimed in frustration, “we have combed all the possible universes and it has already taken us a whole day!”
Gwen was stressed to say the least, they really need to find Miles before his father’s two days are up, and they already wasted a whole night and morning looking for him and getting nowhere.
“Are you sure he’s not in his universe?” Noir asked through the com of his watch, he was currently searching through another universe, they were all separated in fact, saving time and covering more space.
“I’m sure Pete, '' Gwen replied before swinging away to another rooftop.
Currently she was searching through her earth, Hobie and Pav searching in their respective universes as well, Peter B was with her and Porker was in miles’s earth, just in case Spot makes an appearance with the intention of killing Miles’s father.
They all agreed that they won’t let that happen, sure they were absolutely torn earlier, fearing the worst for Miles’s universe if he does break a canon event, but after she returned to her universe and found that her own dad, who was meant to die like every other cop, has quit his job and her universe remained intact, she doesn’t know how to think about the canon event theory anymore.
Heck she might not believe it anymore, things just weren’t adding up now that she thought about it deeply, she has betrayed her first ever friend ever since Peter died, and she will make it up for him, she has to.
She was pulled out of her thoughts when Margo spoke through the watch.
“Guys I might have a lead on where Miles might be” she said, “me and Penni managed to pull out the go home machine’s records, and it is registered that he was sent to earth-42”
Of course!
God how could they be so stupid.
Miles wasn’t bitten by a spider from his universe, no, it was a spider from an entirely different earth, and when it bit him, it managed to alter his DNA.
The machine reads DNA.
“Well what are we waiting for!?” Peter spoke, “everyone set your watches to earth-42, we must find him”
And with that they set the destination on their watches, of course not without Porker putting down a camera in earth-1610, just in case.

Miles found the room.
Or at least it’s what he assumes to be the room.
Whatever that machine was in the middle of the room, it sure looked like a portal to travel dimensions.
This place was supposedly restricted, but since when does Spider-Man follow the rules?
Well.
He does follow the rules sometimes, but not this time.
He tried to see how he could work this thing, he managed to turn on the go home machine, this should be a piece of cake.
…
Okay this is proving to be a bit of a challenge.
It needs his DNA right? That’s how the go home machine worked, maybe if he looked around he could find something, maybe an eye scan?
Why must future technology be so complicated?
As he was working this thing, his spider senses went off, and they were buzzing violently too, and with that followed the abrupt opening of the door and a swarm of what appeared to be a bunch of armed security barged in.
He stayed completely still.
Are they here for him?
God he hopes not.
One of the men spoke, “I don’t see anything”.
“Look around carefully” another one said, “the alarm on this area went off, someone must’ve penetrated it”
Oh, of course, of course they’d set an alarm for a restricted area, why hadn’t he thought about that? He feels so stupid right now.
But it’s okay, it’s fine, they’re unaware of his existence here, all he needs to do is stay put and not make Any sounds, maybe they’ll chalk it up to some sort of a malfunction in the system and go back to their stations.
But his Spider-luck seems to disagree with him.
Because one second he was backed away to a corner, and then suddenly pain shot through his body, colors filling the room as he glitched all over the place, his screams were distorted and his vision just blurred before he collapsed on the ground.
God, he forgot about the glitching, and now because of it he’s no longer invisible and he’s staring back at the security who are holding a bunch of guns to his face.
He laughed nervously.
“Hi,” he said in a small voice.
“Get him!” One of the armed men shouted, and that was his cue to get out of here.
Putting full trust on his spider senses he dodged bullets and punched some guys, webbed others, the normal everyday boring Spider-Man fight he’s been used to.
Once he found himself by the door he booked it, running through the halls of the building while an alarm rang through it.
He kept repeating a chain of ‘shoot’s under his breath, maybe slipping in some ‘shit’s from time to time.
He is screwed, he has screwed himself over, god why couldn’t he just listen to this Miguel and wait at the apartment, clearly he knew what he was doing, but no, he had to be stubborn and come along.
He’s gonna blame his newly gained trust issues for this.
Just as he turned around the corner, he was met with another armed squad of security, he tried to turn around but was met with another swarm.
He was cornered.
He tried to shoot some webs but nothing came out.
He ran out of web fluid.
Great.
They kept approaching him slowly, guns aimed at him, he wonders why they haven’t shot him yet.
“Come on fellas! Can’t we at least talk about this?” He tried to reason, but was ultimately met with silence.
“Okay, tough crowd, hey how about this, if you let me go I won’t- uh- I won’t send the wrath of spiders on you!”
He’s bluffing, absolutely bluffing, if he had the ability to talk to spiders like Penni does, he would’ve found out a year ago, but still even when he said that they didn’t budge.
He could go invisible, but he has no idea how practical that could be, they might get freaked out and start shooting randomly, and he does not want that to happen.
“You’re gonna come with us,” one of the men said, but right as he was about to reply, someone spoke instead.
“How about a no”
Everyone looked up to see Spider-Man hanging from the ceiling staring at them.
“Hi” was all that he said before leaping at them, claws out, and ready to attack.
That gave Miles an open window to land his own punches pushing and taking out enough of them to give him the space to get away.
And get away he did, shortly after he saw Miguel catching up to him.
“I told you to stay at the apartment!” He screamed, clearly irritated with Miles, not the first Miguel to be irritated with him, pissing off Miguels must be a natural talent for him that’s for sure.
“I know! I’m sorry, okay!” He replied, “but I need to go back home!”
“And I told you that I’ll help you with it!”
“Well excuse me for not trusting you after your counterpart tried to bite my head off!”
A bunch of robots showed up out of nowhere, and Miguel let out an annoyed sound.
“You go home! I’ll deal with those things!” He ordered and pushed Miles away as he jumped on the offenders.
Miles went invisible and did as he was told, immediately making a beeline to his destination, and once he arrived there he was relieved to find it empty, the guards must be busy with Miguel to guard the room.
He immediately got to work, this could be his only ticket back home before his dad dies.
He finally got it to work, and just as he did that Miguel barged and immediately closed the door and tried holding it back.
“What are you doing!? I told you to go home!”
“I am going home!” Miles replied.
The machine powered up and a blue light shined through the room as the portal formed.
What Miles didn’t account for was the fact that portal was sucking him in like a black hole, Miguel could feel the same pull.
“What did you do!?” He shouted.
Miles tried his best to stick to the ground but it was no help, Miguel shot a web at him to hold him in place, but the pull was so strong that it started sucking him in as well.
Right as he was trying to stay attached using his talons, the public eye managed to barge in, and in turn pushed him over and made him lose his balance and grip on the ground.
Next thing he knows, both him and Miles are traveling through space.
And somewhere on earth-42, a big bright flash was seen in the sky before two figures were sent flying out of it, slamming into the ground roughly, leaving cracks under them.
Miles got up slowly, nothing was broken thankfully, and he looked over at Miguel.
“Hey man… are you okay?” He asked.
“No. No I am not shocking okay”
