buying an isle
Lena's POV
Â
She needed to leave. After what happened with Kara, she needed to leave. Sure she was aware that she fled but she needed to sort her feelings out, and seeing Kara constantly wouldnât help her. It was an overnight decision.
Â
She bought an isle with an small old castle close to Ireland, made a few phone calls and arranged everything in one week.Â
Â
Her lab was the most important thing.
Â
Jess and Eve agreed to move with her, none of them wanted to let go of this mastermind.Â
Â
Andrea asked her, if she could help her to work on her obsidian lenses in exchange for taking over L-Corp.
Â
Lena kindly agreed and was thankful for this distraction.
Â
The castle was big enough for all of them with honestly had to many rooms to live.
Â
Lena made sure that no one dared to speak about the location. Both of them signed a contract about absolute secrecy. They worked together and no one asked why they were moving.
Â
 They just accepted it.
Â
One day before she moved, she used her portal watch to do some precautions. She managed to erase her island from every map with her technology- to block out all powers of the others, sheâve done everything possible to not to be found.
As much as she was hurt, she knew it would be easier if Kara won't find her. It would be easier for both of them.Â
Â
The first year was hard and heartbreaking. She pushed herself into work, never stopped so she wouldnât think about Kara. She was still busy with L-Corp and the obsidian lenses even though Andrea managed it well.Â
Â
Jess managed to work into her unknown Identity, while organizing everything for Lenas well-being. Lena never gave anything about eulogy, but about to help the human race. Of course she was still in contact with Sam and Ruby, they also visited every now and than.Â
Â
And Sam also updated her, when Kara or Alex reached out to find her.Â
Â
Whenever Lena saw Supergirl at the news, her heart throbbed in her chest, like she would live her heartbreak all over again.Â
Â
She told herself everyday: itâs better this way. Better for all of us. Better than having a heartbreak all over again.
Â
And so she lived. Or better she survived.
Â
A few months after the first year, she felt her mind being much lighter. Lena still refused to get in contact with her former National City friends. She recognized a change in Karaâs face, when she saw her on the news.
The former happy Ray of sunshine smiled, while rescuing the people, but Lena realized that her smile never reached her eyes. Worry started hitting her, but as always she forced herself into work, everything to not reach out to her.Â
Â
When Sam and Ruby visited, it always felt like holidays. They went hiking through the massive mountains of the island and fishing. Sam eyed her, when she agreed to go fishing, showing up in waist high fisherman pants and a fishing rod above her shoulder.Â
Â
Even Jess blinked when Lena ordered her to cancel all her appointments this day.Â
Â
Ruby ran to her and hugged her tightly while screaming: âYou look amazing aunt Lena!!!â she pulled her hand towards the cliffs and said: âCome on, come on! Letâs go before the fishes are gone.â And Lena laughed.
Â
For the first time since the incident, she laughed whole-heartedly.Â
Â
Sam stood beside her, eyeing her relieved and smiling: âSo, you wanna tell me that youâre able to fish?â
Â
Lena raised her shoulders, challenging: âwanna bet? Hey Rubs, how about a challenge whoâll get the biggest fish?âÂ
Â
Ruby was screaming of joy and Lena smiled at Sam: âEverything to make my best niece happy.â
Â
Sam nodded and grabbed a fishing rod for herself, she watched Lena with raised eyebrows, demanding with a cheeky smile: âletâs see who will win.âÂ
Â
And ran down the stairs of the cliffs to a rough beach. They spent the day at the beach, laughing, smiling and living without worries.
Â
Of course Ruby won with the help of Sam and Lena. Lena delivered the fishes to her chef and he cooked a beautiful dinner for all of them. While eating, Ruby said: âI bet aunt Kara would be able to catch ALL the fishes! We could eat fish everyday for the next weeks.â
Â
Lena closed her eyes immediately, while hearing HER name. She wasnât aware that they were in so much contact after this long time.
Â
Eve eyed Jess and Jess looked to Lena, waiting for her response. There was an unspoken law, not to talk about Kara, Supergirl or the DEO if itâs not absolutely necessary. The was a sudden tension in the room.
Â
Sam admonished Ruby quietly, and with a forced smile: âRubs, remember? We wonât talk about Kara in this place.âÂ
Â
Ruby nodded her head replied sorrowful: âIâm sorry aunt Lena. But I promise you, Â your secret is safe with me. Aunt Alex tried to trick me once to tell her where you are, but my mouth is silent.â
Â
Lena raised her eyebrows, surprised, and looked to Sam, while asking: âOh I didnât knew about this.âÂ
Â
She grabbed Rubyâs hand softly and squeezed it: âDonât apologize hun. You have amazing aunts, you should be allowed and proud to talk about them.âÂ
Â
Everyone fell silent again afterwards and continued eating, until Ruby asked the question, no one dared to asked before: âwhen will you come back to National City?âÂ
Â
All eyes were on Lena, curious for her answer, because deep down, everyone hoped the day would be sooner than later. Lena sent Jess home to her family every now and then, just Eve stayed by her side.
Â
 Every single day.
Â
Lena coughed surprised and laughed nervously. âI'm not sure Rubs. But the day will come one day.â
Â

And that day arrived.Â
