You got a man, what you want, what you want?
The question sounds unreal to Gwen honestly. 1. Because there’s no way she could like Miles Morales when he’s quite obviously dating Margo and 2. Because her boyfriend just asked her if she liked another guy.
And her response was horrible. She fumbled on her words– which probably sounded so suspicious– which is why she’s now sitting at her desk, using every muscle in her body to try not to face palm and wake up her sleeping boyfriend.
Although… Hobie seemed hopeful. Like he wanted her answer to be yes. Now Gwen isn’t the best at reading people. I mean, she barely gets social cues. But she could just feel it.
She opens her phone to look at the video of Miles bursting into laughter again. Why did Miles send it to Hobie in the first place? What were they talking about?
She bangs her knee into the desk leg and lets it hurt because there’s no way she’s jealous when she’s practically cheating on Hobie.
She needs to talk to Miles. Fast.

WhatamIdoingWhatamIdoingWhatamIdoing has been repeating in Gwen’s head for the last 10 minutes since she’s made her way out of her house and tracked Miles’ location (creepy she knows), and is knocking on his window.
For a minute, nobody answers so she takes the time to scan the room. There’s a wall display full of Jordan's, and she can’t help but laugh at his obsession.
“What’s so funny?” Her eyes widen and she almost falls before regaining her composure and focusing on the face in front of her. Miles.
He’s wearing a bonnet and rubbing his eyes sleepily before motioning to Gwen to come in. She immediately regrets having showed up in the first place because, well, it’s 1 in the morning.
“I’m so sorry for waking you, I could come back tomorrow”. she says hurriedly, not moving from the window.
He laughs– a more chill version of the one she saw in the video– and grabs her arm to pull her completely into his room. “It’s whatever, I was just watching videos anyway.”
Now that she’s completely in, it’s easier to assess her surroundings. He has a lot of posters. That new spider-man movie poster which looks sick, and a lot more musicals too. She looks over at his bed, which is filled with papers. He tries to move them but a few fall so she leans down to help him and tries to ignore how their fingers brush against each other.
“New songs?” she asks, clearly trying to ignore how close they just got.
He chuckles, a little disappointed “yeah..”
He throws his phone to the side and pats the side of his bed. “So, why are you here?”
She gasps in fake offense “you don’t like my company?”
He rolls his eyes, crossing his legs in front of him.
“you knew what I meant.”
She sighs, contemplating telling him the truth. But how do you make “I came here because I think I’m in love with you but don’t know what to do” sound anything less than cheating?
“I just.. couldn’t sleep and wanted to hang out with you.”
He looks at her for a second, his expression unreadable before shrugging and pulling up his laptop. “Have you ever watched hamilton?” she shakes her head no. He smiles.

Midway through the movie, Miles gets more comfortable and starts giving her a whole concert. He even grabs his phone to imitate a microphone and is saying every word with full attitude and she just can’t help but laugh.
When the song ends, and there’s a little time before the next one, Miles closes his eyes, a small smile on his lips and against her better judgment, Gwen leans in and kisses him.
His eyes shoot open before relaxing and kissing her back. She pulls him closer to hold his face and slip her tongue into his mouth which he whines into.
her phone buzzes. Hobie.
She panics and scrambles away from him, leaving his mouth wide open and she grabs her stuff and runs to his window, mouthing a small “I’m sorry.” before leaving.
Everything that just happened rushes to his head. and Miles cries.

Gwen gets back to her place, panting, and slamming the door. She’s met with a sleepy Hobie, rubbing his eyes just as Miles did and her heart hurts.
“Where’dya go luv?” He says, his voice slurring a bit.
Before she can stop the words coming out of her mouth, she blurts out “I kissed Miles.” and the regret that comes from her words is instant.
“You wot.” Hobie spits, no longer rubbing his eyes, instead letting them widen.
well, shit.
