Wanda stumbles to her feet, ignoring the sounds and cries of others around her, as she runs through the field towards the last spot Pietro is just standing on. She crashes harshly into the ground and places her hands on the side of her brother’s face; brushing dirt and moving his hair off his face.
Her powers flair when arms around her and pull her away from Pietro. Wanda refused to abandon her brother all over again; the two of them had fought hell and high waters to get where they are today and she refused to allow anything to tear them apart now. A red mist wraps itself tightly around Pietro’s wrist before she notices that it is Scott and Storm looking him over.
Above her, Logan sat on the ground and held her close while keeping his eyes locked on Pietro.
“Do you mind doing something for me?” his voice was gruff and grounding, making Wanda nods her head. “How many fingers am I holding up?”
To find out Wanda will need to look away from Pietro but if she does then she won’t know what’s happening. She peels her away and down at Logan’s hand to see that he had folded down two fingers and left up three.
“Three,” she said slowly. “There are three.”
“Good, that’s good.” Logan shifts his hold but never once blocks Wanda’s view of her brother. Frankly, Logan is a strange man that no one really understands; seeming to both not care and care far too much. “We’re going to head back home to get Pietro looked at, okay?”
Wanda moves away to let Logan up and takes the offer hand to pull herself back to her feet. Her uniform is covered in mud and blood while her hands are coated with her brother’s blood; she couldn’t help but stare down at them as if it would change the outcome somehow. She forces herself to ignore it and follow Logan as he leads the way back to the jet.
…
“Give,” Logan said as he took a seat next to Wanda and lay his hand out. He had set a bowl of water on the table next to the bed that Pietro was lying on; no one knew why he wasn’t waking up. A wet cloth is in his other hand. “Come on, we need to get you clean up or at least get the mud off your hands.”
Wanda looks from Logan’s face to his hands before gently placing one of her hands in his. She winced a bit when Logan applied too much pressure to a few cuts that she didn’t know that she had.
“Why are doing this?” she questions. “It’s not like you know us or anything.”
Logan didn’t say anything – maybe thinking, it’s hard to say – as he put the cloth in the bowl, and rinsed it, before going back to cleaning Wanda’s hands. “I knew you both once, I know that you have a hard time with losing family.” Logan pulls away, dropping the cloth in the bowl, before leaving with it. “Pietro will be fine, he just needs to rest and you nearby when he does wake up.”
Wanda wanted to say something but instead could only watch as Logan walked out of the room.
…
Wanda wasn’t quite sure what startled her awake but she froze when she heard Logan and the professor’s voice. The two are just in the doorway but are facing away from the room. She looks up at Pietro to see that her brother is awake and has been listening to whatever they have been talking about; he lays his hand out and Wanda doesn’t think twice before taking it.
“It seems that you have taken quite a liking to the twins.”
“Someone needs to keep an eye on them,” Logan said. “I’ve seen their future, professor, I just want to make sure they don’t have to live it again.”
Pietro wince but manages to move to be closer to Wanda. “I knew about the whole being from the future thing but I thought that was a rumours thing that Kurt heard.” Her brother looks a little better up close; not so pale and filled with life once more.
“I guess it’s true,” whispered Wanda.
“Then I’ll leave them with you then,” Charles said. “You’ll be able to keep up with them better than anyone else.”
“I’ll try but those two are stubborn.” Logan chuckles. “I met their parents, they have a good mix of both in them.”
They were not expecting Logan to talk about their parents – especially since they still don’t know who their birth dad is and their mom refuses to tell them. They look at one another with the same idea going through their heads; use Logan to find out who their birth dad is. It’s more for knowing than having a relationship since they already had a Dad, who they miss very much and refuse to replace him with anyone.
“Oh?” Charles didn’t seem to be expecting it either. “Then I’ll leave you to it then.”
Wanda and Pietro quickly move back to how they were before being woken up. However, a new goal has been set in their minds and they plan on figuring this out, no matter what.
