''You look just about good enough to eat today.”
My Japanese noodles—the ones I was thoroughly enjoying— left my mouth. What did he just say? When it comes to our favourite raven-haired serpent-tongued person you know not to trust a word that comes out of his mouth, frankly, trusting anything that has to do with the guy is what Tony calls “dangerous and strangely murderous and not to be considered, in any way, shape or form, the truth”
Because you see, it is not insanely uncharacteristic for him to state his case, which—in many cases— is insanely unfit for the moment of such shared information and also quite frankly, pretty hurtful.
But when it’s a Sunday morning and you’re enjoying your meal and he casually tells you that he would not mind eating you, it’s not too strange for a girl to spit out her delicious noodles.
“What?”
“I said that you look just about good enough to eat today” he answers, unfazed by your action and tone.
“I– I believe that is quite inappropriate language for a setting such as this” Really? Who’s grandma am I? I mentally slapped myself for both my comment and the fact I didn’t just ignore his comment.
Oddly enough, his sentence didn’t completely disgust me.
“Since we are not work associates and only reside in the same building, I believe my language is just appropriate enough, don’t you think so?”
He stared at me, with a look that —even if I tried— I could not decipher. I do know that he can’t be up to much good with that look.
“Do you like games, darling?”
Perplexed by the direction he went with and the unusual nickname I couldn’t help but stare before finally answering.
“Ehm, yes? Depends on the game I think”
“Because I believe you’ve been playing one for a really long time, haven’t you?”
“I– I don’t know wh—“
“Oh but you do, don’t ignore the fact you’ve spent ages trying to get agent Whitlock’s attention, huh?” I could see the smug look on his face grow bigger while my confidence only seemed to grow smaller.
“But why don’t we play a little game? Because, if I am right, which I am, he’s almost done with his meeting and because of this weather he will most likely be going to the balcony’s pool to cool off, giving us a perfect moment to reek a little jealous havoc, don’t you think?”
God I wished that I could rip that look off of his face. But he did have a point, it’s been ages since he last gave any form of attention and this could be it, I mean, don’t men always want what they can’t have?
“What does this exactly entail?”
“Good, you’ve already made up your mind, go change into something more, open, and then meet me at the balcony”
“What? No, I didn’t agree yet and I don’t know exactly what the full plan is, could you please just—“ and he’s gone. Dammit. But he is right, Jesus, just fuck it, just a bit of jealous havoc, what’s the worst that could happen?”
Yeah, this was a bad idea, I think as I walk through the glass doors of the balcony and lay my eyes on Whitlock.
I don’t know if I could do this, I mean? What if he’s already seeing someone? Maybe this was a bad idea...
“Tu viens ici souvent?” I hear behind me. “Ah, Loki, there you are, wait did you just–?”
“Mhm” he hummed as he scanned his eyes over your body without making any attempt to be subtle.
“Your lover boy is already taking a swim, quite frankly I do not understand your obsession over this man, he does not seem to possess any interesting or useful qualities, a shame really”
He hums as he diverts his eyes to the agent who’s taking laps in the pool.
“And surely you do possess such interesting and useful qualities?” I exclaim back at him.
“Mhm, quite useful,” he says in a tone while taking a step forward making you able to smell his cologne.
He looks back at the agent who is now staring at Loki with a puzzled frown. And looks back when I speak again.
“Really, how useful?” I whisper softly, participating in his game—of which I still do not know the full details.
“This useful” His head spins back meeting my gaze but not lingering for long as he suddenly grabs my head with both of his hands and smacks his lips against mine.
That's one way to make someone stand perplexed.
After the shock wears off I lean into the kiss quite passionately as I realise he does kiss as good as he looks. I can feel my heart beating faster and a slight tingle in my stomach but before it can turn into something more he pulls away.
I can see his dilated pupils darting around us and a small breath escape his parted lips as I come to realize what he had just done, what I had just done, he kissed me, which could’ve been his plan but because it was so intense and so… good? It made me forget all about Withlock...
“I believe it worked” I hear Loki say softly as I follow his gaze and meet with Whitlock’s furious and agitated gaze as he gets out of the pool and walks away from the balcony.
Loki and I look back at each other without knowing what to say and before he does I slap him across his face.
