Daffodils

Emily squeals in delight as she wiggles on her bed, surprising her parrot.

"I'm sorry!" Emily puts a pillow on top of her head as she giggles. "I wonder what will happen in the future..." She mumbles as she fantasises and soon falls asleep.

Haley, on the other hand, can't sleep and feels restless. Her day had been nothing but completely normal, but ever since she saw Chai and Emily dance, her mood became sour.

"....." She closes her eyes and drifts off to sleep, it's been days since that day, and a new season started. Haley was pissed off about the summer heat as she walked down to get ice cream.

On her way out, she bumps into Chai, who's holding a bunch of daffodils in her hands. The flowers scattered on the ground as Chai apologised and bent down to take them.

"I'm sorry! I'm sorry!!" Chai repeatedly said after picking all of the flowers.

"....." Haley looked at Chai intently as she chuckled. 'She's so cute. She's like a small animal!'

Chai was taken aback but still felt embarrassed as she sheepishly looked away.

"Well, I'll forgive you, but in exchange for this." Haley took a flower from Chai's hands as she smiled. Chai blushes as she nods, Haley chuckles once again but soon frowns.

'Wait... Why am I acting this way?! I should be angry at her, but... Why would I be angry at her...? "Haley coughs as she looks at Chai sternly.

"Now, go away!" She ordered as Chai stiffened and scooted away. "Really, how can she be so cute?" Haley smiles as she smiles at the appearance of the rugged farmer running away awkwardly.

'Really, how can she be so cute?' Haley shook her head and continued on her way to get some ice cream where Alex worked. But, as she walks, she inspects the daffodil in her hand. She likes daffodils, and strangely, this daffodil seems more significant than any other flowers given to her.

'I wonder if she'll give me some sunflowers. It's the right season to grow them, after all.' She grinned at the thought of that awkwardly cute farmer giving her flowers, shaking like a frightened small animal. She couldn't help but chuckle at that thought but stopped and stood frozen upon realising it. 'But why?' She asked herself.

'Isn't she, like, courting my sister?' She frowned. Somehow, that thought ruined her day. 'And, is she a playgirl? Why is she giving me flowers when it's my sister that she likes?' She frowned harder than she ever had made her entire life as she stomped her way towards Alex.

Alex greeted her with a smile and waved at her, but upon noticing the expression she was making, he looked at her dumbfounded and lowered his hands. "What's wrong?" He asked minutes later as he grew uncomfortable at the defeaning awkward silence.

"It's nothing. Just give me an ice cream." She demanded as he nodded and gave her a cone. She took it from him and angrily ate the cone and soon cooled down.

'I hate this, this conflicting feelings and... her cute smile.' Haley felt the sudden rush of her beating heart and her face blushing like a tomato as she covered her face with her hands and groaned. "What's happening to me..? And... What should I do..?" She doesn't know. She felt hopeless and alone, but one thing's for sure, she must act and stay the same when it comes to her.
