Miles followed the two men out the broken window and back into the cold air, he rolled his eyes when they both booked it down the same street, the snow crunching under their feet and echoing down the alleyway
“It’s normally not in my best interest to give out pointers but come on. It’s super easy to chase both of you right now” Miles shouted “Are you even trying?”
A few shots rang out back inside the shop, followed by a few snarky words from Peter. They had this under control, an easy night to make up for the chaos in the recent weeks.
One of the guys tripped in the snow, stumbling just enough for Miles to get close enough to web him up
“Kyle, help!”
“What do you want me to do??” “Kyle” kept running
“Your unwavering loyalty is an inspiration” Miles called, swinging a bit faster to get close enough to web the second guy up “I’ll make sure to recommend you two as roommates in prison”
“Wait, I’ll talk, I’ll talk! I can give you names”
Miles paused as he landed, not sure what the guy was trying to do “What are you talking about?”
“I want a plea bargain!” Kyle struggled against the webs
“You’re ratting us out!?”
Miles raised an eyebrow even though they wouldn’t see it through the mask “I was joking before dude, I'm not a cop or anything. My whole role in this endeavor is done once I catch you. I'm sure the cops would love to hear about all about that though”
Miles swung up, heading back to the shop ignoring the guy trying to call him back and his buddy cursing at him. Peter probably had everything wrapped up at the store, they would probably head back into the city after this. Miles sighed, the night was cold and the wind from swinging around wasn’t helping. He would need to remember to bring a jacket or some kind of top layer. He thought about taking Hailey’s scarf but couldn’t stand the idea of losing it… or seeing it get damaged in a fight. Last he checked wool wasn’t bullet-proof.
Miles did a quick check around the street before he landed back in front of the shop. The two he chased were the only ones who had fled.
“Hey, Spider-Man” Peter greeted, pausing in his work of making sure everyone that was out was webbed down. It would make things much easier for the police- even if they didn’t always appreciate it
The owner cautiously left the shop, approaching the two of them. The poor guy was shaking “I… thank you”
“No worries, just glad you’re okay,” Miles said
“What can I do to repay you?”
Peter waved him off “We’re just trying to make New York a little safer”
A particularly cold breeze sent a shiver through Miles' body, but he tried to hide it. Was Peter cold too? The dude was way too good at hiding it
The owner’s face suddenly lit up, “Oh! Wait right here! …please”
“Uh… okay,” Miles said watching the man scurry to the back
“We’re waiting for him?” Peter wandered over, It seemed all the bad guys were tied down
“I guess so, it would be rude to leave now”
“Yeah I guess”
The man came back, nearly running towards them, two hoodies in his arms
“Here, these aren’t supposed to be released for a few months, we got the shipment in today, it’s perfect.” He handed each of them a hoodie, and the two were too curious to not take them.
Miles’ was dark, and once unfolded, he was looking at a simple version of his spider suit. Black with his red spider on both sides. It looked like it would be super soft, but wearing it over his suit would kind of defeat the purpose of the suit design, wearing it outside the suit seemed like a bad idea after all those people saw him without his mask. Miles looked over to Peter, who was holding a red hoodie with his own suit design on it. Peter was eyeing Miles’ hoodie and Miles immediately knew what he was thinking… and loved it.
Wordlessly, he held out his hoodie towards him and Peter enthusiastically traded. In the same motion, he pulled the dark hoodie over his suit. Miles laughed as Peter took a look at the webbed designs on the sleeves, pulled up the hood, and tried out the pockets
Miles put the red hoodie on, following his example. Even through the suit, he could feel how cozy the hoodie was. It was also nice to finally have something with Peter’s new suit design. He hadn’t gotten around to it before becoming Spider-Man
“Man, this is great, thank you,” Miles said
The owner was watching them, clearly amused “Thank you! I don’t know what I would have done if you hadn’t stopped them”
“All in a day's work... er night's work,” Peter walked to the street
“Stay safe!” Miles called, following Peter as he swung back into the city, the windchill wasn’t even bothering him anymore
Peter landed on an office building, settling down to sit casually on the ledge overlooking the city, and Mies sat next to him. No sirens, no alerts from the crime app- nothing. Somehow they’d found a (relatively) quiet night
