A smile spreads across your face as you look at yourself in the mirror standing on the wall of your little room. The golden sparkles on your prom dress were illuminated and sparkling in the soft light that radiated off the fairy lights above your bed. Your eyes wander over your curves in the mirror while your hands are fixing the curls of your hair. You have waited for this day to come for so many weeks by now, and now that the day has arrived, you feel nervousness creep up from the inside of your body. Would your crush like your dress? Would he still be happy he had asked you out? Would he even show up?! All those thoughts are rushing through your mind as you slowly make your way down the stairs to meet your mother in the living room.
At your footsteps, your mother looks up and a big smile spreads all across her face. „You look absolutely stunning, sweetheart!“ she smiles as she gets up from her armchair and walks over to you to fix a strand of hair and tug it behind your ear. A warm feeling starts to spread across your whole body at that loving gesture. You and your mother are really close, always have been after your father has left the household at an early stage of your life. You never really got to know him, but right now you did not want to either. All you need was your mother. „Thank you mom.“ you smile back warmly, hugging her tightly as you hear a car pull up your driveway.
Panic starts to form in the pit of your stomach as you peak out the window in between the blinds to find your crush outside, just getting out of his car. You pull back and give your mother a quick hug goodbye before you rush to the door to open it before he even has the chance to ring the doorbell. „H-hi…“ you stammer out and shine a beautiful smile at the young man on your doorstep while he smiles back at you. He tells you how good you look and in that moment you feel like your heart is imploding inside you. He holds out his arm for you to take and you gladly do so before he leads you to his car in which he drives you to the nearby school. You soon park outside the big building and go to take a picture together at the Photo Booth the school has built for that occasion. He wraps his arms around you from behind, his fingers linking with his own in front of your stomach, trapping you in his arms. You cannot be happier in this moment, being so close to the boy you have fancied for over a year now. You lean back against him as you both put on your best smiles for the picture they are about to take of you both.
You sneak your hands under his just before they take the photo, a soft laugh escaping both your lips as the camera clicks and captures that moment forever. You look at each other before he links his arm with yours and leads you inside the big hall. It’s decorated nicely, little lights and shining stars everywhere, shining down on the dancing teenagers. The music is blasting through several speakers which are located in the edges of the hall. He looks at you and gives you a smile as you look around in awe, your eyes sparkling at the beautiful decorations all around the room. „I’m gonna grab us some drinks .“ he excuses himself and you give him a happy little nod before you look around to locate your friends you wanted to meet here. As your eyes roam around, they land on a boy standing alone next to the dance floor. He looks pretty lost and not being used to being around so many people. You tilt your head as your eyes rest on him for a few seconds, but you get pulled out of your trance when you feel a strong hand on your shoulder. You snap out of your thoughts and look back to find your prom date standing behind you, holding two cups of bowl in his hand, a soft smile on his face. He hands you one and you thank him for it, taking a soft sip before you glance over at the guy again. Your mind wanders off to the possibilities of why he is alone. You wait for a few more minutes and then glance back at him only to find him still alone.
Loki hadn’t been looking forward to this day. He did not ask anyone out since he did not find the courage. Loki is pretty introverted to say the least, more kept up with himself than going out and meeting new people. He loves being around his books at home, reading was one of his biggest hobbies apart from writing poems sometimes. He had never been one to love being in the spot light so he often sits down in the back of the class where he is not noticed at all. Though his brother Thor had somewhat forced him to go to prom tonight because this would be his last before graduating and Thor told him he should at least try to enjoy it. So like a good brother Loki is, he decided to agree and come along. Little did he know that he would spend the rest of the night standing there alone while Thor was busy with his date for tonight. Or so he thought.
So here he is now, shuffling around in his spot while watching the dancing and horny body grinding of the teenagers around him. He’s playing with his fingers nervously as his eyes scan the room carefully for his brother. He wants to go home, his mood has already dropped and he would rather sit at home and read a good book than to be here alone and without a date. It was humiliating. When he realizes that Thor has somehow disappeared, Loki sits down and sips on his drink, a sad look on his face as he plays with the cup in his hands. „What a great evening..“ he mumbles to himself and sighs softly.
Upon seeing the boy looking so sad, you excuse yourself from your date, making up a stupid excuse before making your way over to him. You sit down next to him on the bench and give him a warm smile. „Hello there. All alone tonight?“ you ask him softly, trying not to make it sound rude or judging in any way so it would not hurt the others feelings. You see him looking up, and in the moment your eyes meet, you feel yourself drowning in the beautiful color of his eyes. Your eyes scan his soft facial features and you cannot help but smile warmly at him and reach out your hand. „I’m y/n. And you are?“ you ask him softly, your golden dress sparkling under the several lights shining down on you and him. You see his shocked expression and you can sense that he’s not used to talking to people a lot. Though he slowly reaches out his hand to grasp yours and shake it softly and carefully.
„Im… Loki…“ he replies in a soft yet deep voice, his black hair hanging in his face softly while his blue eyes search yours for any sign of game. It seems like he does not have a lot of friends, or at least that he’s not used to having someone genuinely care about him. It makes you sad, since he looks like a nice guy. You make it your duty for tonight to make him smile at least once! With that thought in head, you shake his hand back and look back over at the dancing crowd. You feel his gaze linger a little longer before he follows yours as he looks at the others as well.
His eyes wander across the crowd again before he nods at your question. „Yes im alone. I did not get a date for tonight.“ he replies before he adds „what a surprise“ in a whisper. You almost don’t hear it over the loud music blasting in your ears. You look over at him and watch his eyebrows knit together. You still wonder why he’s all alone here, since he seems like a really nice boy, and a handsome one too to say the least. His black hair was complimenting his porcelain skin perfectly, his facial features soft but his jawline sharp. He’s totally your type you realize in that moment, your cheeks tinting in a soft pink color at your own thoughts. Your own date is long forgotten at this point as you look back over at the boy next to you and you feel your heart beat pick up when your eyes meet once again, longer this time. „I will gladly spent the night with you here.“ you reassure him before smiling at him and clink your cup with his. „To this night and us“ you chuckle and take a sip of the bowl your date has gotten for you.
Loki watches you and listens to your words. You actually make him smile for the first time tonight, a soft and beautiful smile appearing on his face before he sipped on his drink as well. He can’t believe a girl like you would talk to him, yet want to spend the rest of the night with him. It makes his heart speed up a little more as he looks at you, his eyes starting to sparkle just like yours do in the same moment. He smooths out his black tuxedo and fixes his slightly curled black hair. You watch him in awe before you open your mouth to ask him something. „How comes that you are alone here?“. Maybe it was mean to ask, or even intruding, you realize that now as you play with a curly strand of your hair nervously, twirling it around your fingers as your eyes cascade down to the ground in embarrassment. Maybe you should’ve phrased that in another way, but now you couldn’t take back what has already been said, so you just hope he doesn’t take it the wrong way. Loki looks over at you and his soft smile slowly starts to disappear and is replaced by a sad frown. You don’t like this look on his face, but you wait for him to speak up first before saying anything.
“I… I’m not really someone who has a lot of friends you know?“ He starts, avoiding your gaze. Loki doesn’t like the pitiful looks he gets sometimes, and he just hopes you’re different. „People usually avoid me, since I’m different.“ he adds quietly. Now that peaks your interest. „Different in what way?“ you ask him, looking into his eyes and searching for the answer there. Loki shrugs as he takes a sip from his drink. „I read a lot, I mostly spend my time in my room reading or writing poems. I’m the complete opposite of my brother who’s outgoing and…. popular. Thor is Everything I want to be really“ he murmurs sadly. You tilt your head, Thor, that name rings a bell. You know him from class, but you never would’ve guessed that him and the boy next to you were brothers. You shine another gentle smile and place your hand on his arm. „I like reading too. And writing poems? That’s really cool! You should show me one of yours one day!“ you beam excitedly which makes Loki look up in surprise. He has never met someone before who was truly interested in them. „Really?“ he asked in shock before a big smile spreads across his face and he nods. „I would love to!“ He adds.
You cannot help the big smile spread over your entire face at seeing him so happy. Your heart does little flips at the sight in front of you and you could swear that you were already losing interest in the guy you are here with and feel more and more interested in getting to know the one you are with right now. You place your cup down and get up from the bench, your golden dress falling around your hips and ankles perfectly, hugging your curves just in the right ways and complimenting them. You hold out your hand and look down at him. The world seems to stop around you both as you look into each other’s eyes. You open your mouth to speak as he looks up at you.
„May I have this dance?“
