—-
“This definitely wasn’t creepy, not at all." After hours of contemplation, this was the brilliant plan his so-called genius brain had conjured.

Stand at the door of the classroom until Margo arrives, but to make sure people don't suspect anything, hold the door! That was his revolutionary plan... Suddenly, the fact that he was one of the top 5 students at this school became concerning, cuz if this was the plan he, as one of the top 5, could come up with, then the rest were surely a lost cause.

Besides all this, he wanted to investigate something. He wasn’t the kind of person to rush into things. It was already scary to him that just a few weeks ago, his thoughts were consumed by his blonde best friend, and suddenly, they had shifted to Margo.

He didn't want to use her as an excuse or a way to overcome his unrequited feelings; he wanted to understand her better before immersing himself in the sea that was Margo, a plunge that would undoubtedly drown him—

“Really?”

Miles field of view was suddenly obstructed by Gwen startling him, and he could practically read her thoughts written on her forehead.

“Shut up,” he muttered, averting his gaze.

“You that down?” Her raised brow matched her surprise. She was just fooling around yesterday, but now she realized she has actually hit the bullseye.

“I’m just holding the door,” he said, feeling the urge to explain himself, hoping that that would make her leave.

"I've been here for 30 minutes, Miles, and you've been holding the door for that long.”

"I like holding it,” he shrugged, mentally berating himself for not noticing her sooner.

“Hm-hm.” She nodded thoughtfully. Then her eyes lit up, a bad sign for Miles, who knew his ex-crush a little too well.

Hoping to divert her from whatever was brewing in her head, he motioned toward the class. “Go in,” he gestured, urging her to enter the class.

“Nah,” she waved her hand dismissively. “As a matter of fact, I want to wait till she gets here too.” Miles eyes widened at her reply. She couldn't be serious, right? He scanned her face for any sign of playfulness. It was full of it, but it also exuded resolve. She was staying.

He had worked so hard to ensure neither Pav nor Hobie caught on and went straight into the class, but with Gwen here, they'll definitely suspect something and step out too.

He was done for it, especially if Pav and his so-called sixth sense caught wind of this.

“I missed her yesterday, so let’s wait together.” She smiled sweetly.

“Absolutely not—hey!" Gwen’s eyes followed Miles to the person behind her. Isabel, and right next to her was the famous Margo.

The girl had somehow managed to capture the entire classroom's attention in the few minutes she had been at school. Gwen could tell why.

Her beauty rivaled Isabel's, who seemed to have taken her under her wing. Her knotless goddess braids were tied into a bun on top of her head, with two braids cascading on each side of her face. Her heart-shaped face tempted you to squeeze her cheeks. Her Kuromi oversized jacket almost covered her skirt. She was the perfect blend of cute and gorgeous, with a big ass forhead, but cute nonetheless.

"Hey!" Margo raised her hand to greet Miles back, who had been waiting for almost an hour just for it to be intercepted by Gwen.

"Margo, right?” she inquired with a smile.

“I’m—” “Gwen, I heard,” she responded. Gwen was taken aback by that; she paused before adding, “All good, I hope?” Margo raised her brow, and Gwen quickly retracted. “Never mind, who am I kidding?”

"Good,” Margo chuckled, “cause you were going to make me a liar in less than 1 minute, sis.” “That bad?” she gasped before her eyes found their way to Isabel, who rapidly ran into the class.

"Oh, you snitching now?” Gwen questioned her, sprinting after her.

Taking this as an opportunity, Miles approached her. “Margo.” He called out, and as if her Miles trap had been activated, Isabel dodged Gwen and yelled.

“Don’t forget what we said.” And eerily, every girl turned to Margo, repeating the same thing. Both she and Miles flinched.

“That’s a scene straight out of a horror movie,” he said. “I double that,” Margo nodded, stiffened by the shock.

——-

"Don’t forget what?” Miles repeated the words he had just heard after a few seconds and watched with horror as Margo's eyes shifted away from his. The same odd feeling he had experienced yesterday returned to him, and Margo's inability to look at him confirmed something.

His head rose in understanding. This was about him, wasn’t it? But he’s playful with everyone in the class, so there was no way they had something bad to say about him, right? His mind raced through recent conversations, searching for any possible misstep that might have triggered this sudden shift.

He looked down, a mix of disbelief and hurt etched across his face. His eyes were drawn to the one who was the loudest—Isabel. She was the prettiest girl in their class, and he did have a crush on her. But, as he had said, it was better to invest in what seemed possible. He knew or believed he’d shoot and miss with her, but had he done something to hurt her or anyone else in the class?

His face was conveying more than he knew, and the smile on Isabel's face slowly faded. The realization that his classmates had something negative to say about him was heartbreaking, especially for someone who was used to vibing with everyone. But what was throwing him off balance so much was how much he cared—not about what they said, but about what the girl in front of him thought.

Her next words as he looked at her didn't help his case. “…Talk to you later, alright?” Their conversation from yesterday felt so natural. What could they have said that made her step back so much?

“Hey—-.” He tried to stop her, but she was too fast and honestly he had no idea what to say to her.

This was scary. Miles thought, looking at his shaking hands. He looked toward Margo and found it hard to speak. Words were stuck in his throat, stifled by the fear she might see him as something he was not. What was she thinking right now? What was said to her? Never had he been this scared of how someone perceived him, and he had only talked to her for a couple of minutes.

This was f*cking Ridiculous!
