A Distant Memory That I Used To Know
Amethyst lay lazily on the couch, a bag of chips resting on her stomach. She was halfway off the couch, her loose messy hair hanging and pooling onto the floor.
Pearl rolled her eyes and mumbled something under her breath, earning a sharp glare. The next thing she knew, Amethyst was rolled back onto her stomach, hair pushed ‘neatly’ behind her, and the chips…
On the floor, crumbs everywhere.
“Got a problem, P?” she smirked and rested her head in her hands, staring at the older.
“You did that on purpose, didn't you.”
“Maybe.”
Pearl grumbled as she got a small broom and pan from her gem, going to the couch and kneeling to clean up another Amethyst mess.
Amethyst watched contently, much like a cat, with a stupid smirk on her face.
---
“It's not my fault it got away! Ugh, why do you blame everything on me?!” she shouted. The warp pad twinkled as they reached home.
“Because it was! If you actually thought about something for once, maybe we would've had it bubbled already!” Pearl retorted back.
“I thought we were SUPPOSED to fight those things. I was just trying to do my part, GOD, what dont you understand.”
“What I don't understand is why you're so careless.” she held her tongue, ‘you could've gotten yourself killed‘ is what she wanted to say.
But she didn't.
“Careless? You haven't cared about anything but yourself since Rose died!“ the small purple gem stomped her foot at Pearl, her hands clenched into fists as she grumbled and ran off into her room, the purple light sealing the door shut.
---
“No. You will not be taking him there.” Pearl looked down at Amethyst.
“Why? Isn't it good that he like…learns about us a little bit? He knows about you and Garnet and homeworld, for gods sake. Why not me?” She rolled her eyes as she stared at Pearl.
'He doesn't know about me.' she wanted to argue back.
“Because it's dangerous. And, id rather not Steven learn about the kindergarten Amethyst…. It will change how he sees you if he knows the truth.” she shushed.
Shes talking about herself.
“What do you even mean by that.”
Silence.
“Pearl. What the hell is that supposed to mean.”
“I just don't want him to think bad of you.” she semi ignored Amethyst, turning and acting like she was fixing the kitchen supplies.
“Think bad of me? Do you even know Steven? Do you even know me?” she put herself in a sitting position. It was late. Steven was sleeping just above them.
“Keep it down, Amethyst.”
Amethyst eyes narrowed. “You see me as one of them, don't you.”
Silence.
“Wow, Pearl. Just wow.” She got up and looked at Pearl one last time, opening her mouth as to say something, but snapped it shut, shaking her head and turning on her heels, leaving the Temple.
"Wait, no- Amethyst I don't-"
"I'm sorry." She whispered under her breath.

Those little arguments
It always got on Pearl's nerves.
It was so annoying when it happened.
But now that it's gone…she misses it.
The silence.
She wishes she could go and take everything back, everything.
She wishes she told her everything.
To tell her how much she loves her. That she never realized it. She never knew she could love anyone else other than Rose.
The water trickled as she sat there, hugging herself, tears plopping into the water below.
How many times is she going to go through this?
