Chapter 1
Mourning. It's the only way anyone could describe it. His life felt like it was over when everyone else's had only just begun. He was at a loss. His whole time at the TVA had been dedicated to Lokis. At least as much as he had remembered. The people around him just seemed so full of life now. He was meant to be happy, why couldn't he be happy?
Loki had made this sacrifice. He was still alive in there, he knows that much. He's keeping it all together. And yet...he just can't bring himself to accept it. To acknowledge that he's gone. He's BEEN gone. Time works differently in the TVA, but the absence made it feel like months. Years. Centuries, even. He felt selfish, wanting him back so bad. He's out there, protecting all those lives. What had he done? Stood by and watched? Sylvie had asked him, didn't it feel weird without him? It was worse than just a bit of change. His whole heart was caving in and there was nothing he could do to keep it from happening.
Then the alarms went off. Alarms he hadn't heard in so long as he looked over a file on one of He Who Remains' variants. A glitch, maybe? Still, everyone's heads turned up and he could see how quickly O.B. got up out of his seat. He follows him. If O.B. were that worried, he had to be too.
"What's going on? What's happening?" Mobius looked to his side to see b-15 right behind him. O.B. turned a corner towards the room for the tree of life. Mobius' heart absolutely sank. No. Don't say it's gone bad. Don't say something happened to him. Apparently Mobius' heart could be heard beating out of his own chest because as the doors opened and O.B. stopped walking, he breathed out, "He's fine, just– he's-" Mobius furrowed his brows at the stutter only to look up and see the God himself, dressed in his new clothes, horns bright upon his head. Mobius hadn't even realized he'd been crying until he blinks the tears away.
"Loki...You're here."
