Teaching a lesson
The universe had come back to normal.
All those who turned into dust, those who bliped, were back to their lives. The Avengers managed to return everything to normal once again, but this time they paid a heavy price.
"Many will remember him as a narcissistic egocentric who only thought of himself and how brilliant he was, but for me, he was more than that, he was a man full of fears and insecurities. And I dare to say that among all of us, Tony was the one who had the most fear. Always.
He had the crazy idea of putting an armor on every person he loved because that was the only way he could feel like his world was safe. And that is worth more than the entire empire he built.
His legacy is not Star Industries. His legacy is Iron Man, his little daughter, his wife, Mister Parker and Keener, Spiderman, the Avengers, and all of us who are standing here today, those who sleep peacefully on the other side of the planet. It’s the people who are not here with us in this ceremony because they are enjoying the company of those who we thought were lost forever. We…” Rhodes felt silent for a few seconds trying to get over the knot that formed in his throat. “ We are his real legacy”
The Six- no. The Four surviving originals were standing on the platform decorated in memory of Anthony Stark and Natasha Romanoff who, according to what his brother told him, died heroically sacrificing themselves to put an end to the mad titan once and for all and bring back half the life of the universe. Never did he imagined being in the middle of a crowd in honor of someone who kicked his ass and locked him up, but there he was, sitting, with his mane tide on a ponytail, black coat on, and the gaze fixed on the young brown-haired man who did not stop sobbing in the first row. The boy had not only found a mentor in Stark, but also a father and he had lost him forever.
Tony's sacrifice not only returned those affected by the snap but also those who died directly at the hands of Thanos. Thanks to him, half of the total survivors of Asgard had come back to life and joined the others in New Asgard. Loki was indebted to the man of iron and would settle his debt by taking care of one of the most precious people for the ancient avenger. He would take care of and support the arachnid boy.
- I am so sorry for your loss. We are indebted to him and therefore also to you.
A boy about the same age. He had pale skin and coal-black hair. 'fits the occasion' Peter thought to himself. He didn't respond to what the young man had told him, he just nodded and wiped his tears with his sleeve.
- Here. Use this, please - Said as he handed him a black handkerchief with embroidered gilded feathers. The design was simple but very elegant.
- Thanks, uhm, what was your name? I feel like I know you from somewhere - And he wasn’t wrong. His spider-sense activated as soon as he heard the boy's voice behind him. - Did you meet Mr. Stark?
The black-haired man was silent for a moment. “Yes, we were old acquaintances but…” was his answer. The memory of Tony offering him a drink in the tower while threatening him with that particular style of his crossed his mind, remaining fixed on the image of the smiling face of the midgardian “but he surely was not someone you forget easily”
Peter smiled a little, knowing very well what he was referring to and it’s just that Tony was one of a kind.
- Brother, we must go
Peter's eyes widened. Thor's hand had landed on the boy's shoulder and just then he noticed it. He was considerably younger and… shorter than when he was shown on the news, but the features were the same, he had no doubt.
- You are…
Peter whispered, more to himself than to the others.
- Loki. Pleased to know you, Peter Parker - Said the god while shaking the kid’s hand with a friendly and sincere smile on his face. - I will see you soon - Was the last thing he said before both asgardians walked away from the crowd before the Bifrost took them back home.
—-------------------------------------
Loki didn't go back on his word, he became close to Peter. They both loved each other's company. On one hand, Loki was cheerful and mischievous most of the time and when he wasn't he was telling stories of his life in Asgard, the adventures they had with Thor in the forests, the pranks they played, and the battles they fought. Peter loved them. They could spend the whole night chatting about things that were trivial for Loki, but fascinating for Peter.
Pete, on the other hand, was everything Loki thought humans could never be. He was extremely understanding and very open-minded. When Peter caught Loki painting his nails with May's nail polish, he himself offered to paint the hand with which he wasn't very skilled. He didn't look at him strangely or ask prejudiced questions like others in both Asgard and Midgard had done. While other boys with his preferences suffered some kind of bullying from other teenagers and even adults, Loki realized that Peter accepted everyone for who they were and not for how they looked or who they had been in the past; there were no exceptions. But what really captivated him was the fact that he didn't care at all that he was Loki, the god of mischief and lies, Thor’s evil brother who tried to subdue and conquer the Earth. He understood from the first moment that if Loki was on Midgard it was because he had been given a second chance and he didn't question the older man's decision to take on the appearance of a teenager to enforce the 'start over with a new life' part.
For Peter all that was fine.
Loki became a recurring figure in the Parker’s household. He spent more time there than in New Asgard. May even arranged Peter's room so that the top of the bunk bed could be used by Loki and not her nephew's dirty clothes.
The boys did everything together. They would go out for a walk, play, defended the citizens as their friendly neighbors Loki and Spider-man and sometimes they even went to class together. (although Peter was seldom aware that he was carrying a snake in his backpack) Those days were the best because there was always some weird and troublesome incident going on, but not necessarily bad.
- Those are not attacks, Pete, those are pranks. There is a big difference between one and the other.
The aforementioned covered his face with both hands - I don't see the difference, Loki! - he said with a gasp. The green-eyed man played with his hair carelessly. He was lying on his bed so listening to Peter's complaints from under him was funny.
- You worry way too much, my dear friend
- Obviously! - The boy crawled the wall and looked at the god with an expression full of disbelief. Did he really take everything so lightly? Was he crazy?
- You blew all the electrical connections in the school and flooded the entire building! Do you know how long it will take to change the cables and pipes?!
Loki leaned on his side, facing the child glued to the wall with his fingertips as if it were normal - Are you going to change them? - It was normal for them.
- No, but…
- See? There’s nothing to worry about! Besides, next week you have that trip with your class, right? It's not like you're going to need the building that much those days, are you?
Peter wanted to answer, but he had no arguments 'I can’t find a flaw in his logic' he thought to himself.
- By the way, are you coming? - Peter crawled across the roof until he was on Loki's bed, who made a space for the Midgardian to lay next to him.
- Do you want me to go?
- It would be great, but… you can't go - Peter couldn't help but scratch his neck because of the discomfort, Loki hadn't said he didn't want to go, but it seemed like he wanted to.
Peter felt bad.
- So, why do you ask?
- Because I want to know if I have to worry about a stowaway in my suitcase during the trip.
The god laughed. It was a nice laugh. Cute even. It echoed Peter’s mind for a couple of days.
- Easy, human. - His gaze fell on the black polish of his fingernails. - I couldn't sneak away even if I wanted to - He was avoiding making eye contact with Peter.
- Why?
He seemed concerned.
- Thor has... plans... if you will. He and his friends want to go to solve an issue with a tyrant on the other side of the galaxy. You know, Guardians’s stuff
There was a moment of silence between the two.
- Do you think it's safe?
- Peter Benjamin Parker - a playful smile took over Loki's lips - Are you worried about me? -He wasn't sure what he saw, but for a second the green-eyed teen thought he saw a
nice shade of pink settle on the younger’s cheeks.
- I- No, I- That’s not wha- I just… I feel bad knowing that you're going to fight someone on the other side of the galaxy while I'm out here going for a walk in Europe.
Loki chuckled
- Calm down, Pete, everything will be fine, you'll see
"everything will be fine, you'll see"
Those words played in Peter's mind over and over and over again. The idea that he worried that Loki wouldn't put himself in harm while he relaxed seemed ridiculous to him right now as he battled hundreds of killer drones controlled by this fishbowl-headed psychopath who was trying to kill him at all cost.
~~~o~~~
- Quill!
The leader of the guardians couldn’t get enough time to react to the call of his name when the ball of the flail crashed against his back, leaving him stuck to it.
The giant’s weapons were slow but effective on the guardians, and the team was struggling. They had to do something quickly.
- Drax, down! - Loki ordered as he formed a magic shield over them. Almost everyone was in a daze and Thor was being crushed under his attacker's foot.- I need to get my brother out of there. Cover me!
The kid wasn’t done talking yet when he threw himself with everything he had against the Andorian hunter while Drax took the weapon that Quill threw to shoot to the eye. In a quick move, Loki barely managed to hold on to the guy's clothes as he discharged all his magic on him. The screams of both were mixed with that of Thor who called his younger brother. In the end, a green glow covered them both and an explosion was all that was seen before everything went silent.
- If you do something like that again, I swear to the gods that I won't ever bring you back with us.
A soft groan was all Loki gave him in response.
- I am Groot
- He’s right. His hair still smokes
The boy did not pay attention to the comment Rocket made while wrapping his arm with a bandage. In the past something similar had happened: He had worn out himself and his magic so much on the battlefield and then healed his friends that in the end, he wouldn’t have enough energy to heal himself. But it had been so long since he last did that that being in the conditions that he was? right now? It felt right… But it still hurt like help
- Maybe I should have gotten into Peter's suitcase after all.
—-------------------------
May was surprised when the doorknob made a sound announcing someone’s arrival
- Lolo! I didn't know you were already back. How was space?
- Charming! - he said as he raised his still bandaged arm. He seemed proud to show it to May, just like a cat who arrives with a dead bird at its owner’s feet. Of course, both May and the owner showed a horrified expression in their respective cases.
After the woman gave him the same sermon that she gave Peter every time he returned from his patrols, she released him to go up to his room where he found his friend sitting at the desk with an open notebook.
- Put that thing down and pay attention to me, Parker. Your god is back!
Just as he finished saying that Peter threw himself into Loki's arms and hugged him as if he wanted to melt into him, as if he were seeking refuge. And Loki noticed it.
- Hey, hey, easy, my friend. What’s the matter? - He placed his good hand on Peter's shoulder and pulled him away a little to look into his eyes. - Everything okay? - He sounded worried and he definitely was when he noticed a huge bruise on the boy's left cheek. You could tell it had been swollen for a while. He took Peter by the chin and lifted his face a bit.
- Who did this?
Nothing. No answers
He sounded angry. He didn't speak loudly, he didn't yell or growl, it was soft and low…almost lulling, but the kid could hear the anger behind his words. Peter thought how scared he would be if he were Beck and saw Loki as upset as he was right now. Furious. Dreadful. Filled with a silent murderous rage
- Peter, who did it? What happened?
The kid pushed the older's hand away and went back to sit down at the desk “It doesn't matter” he muttered with a sad tone “I... already took care of that” came out as a whisper.
Loki knew what that meant, Peter had murdered someone for the first time... Or at least that's how he perceived it. “We'll talk about that another time” the Asgardian thought.
- So, uhm - he cleared his throat trying to ease the mood - How was Europe?
A few awkward seconds passed before Peter spoke. Almost as if he was trying to cautiously pick an answer.
- It was ok. A little intense
- So... Anything interesting to tell?
- Like what?
- Oh, I don’t know, maybe something that starts with M and ends with J?
And with that Peter's eyes lit up.
- Oh, haha, yes, uhm, that hahaha - His laugh was nervous and Loki knew why.
- No way - With a mischievous smile on his face, he removed all the things from the desk and sat on the piece of furniture, facing the boy. - Did you kiss her?
- Something like that. We were on London Bridge and we just solved a little problem and well... it happened - His cheeks were pink and his hands wouldn't stay still.
- So it was an excellent kiss! Who stuck their tongue in first?
Peter almost fell off his chair.
- Wha… I didn’t- She did not- I mean we. No, I … - His brain wouldn’t respond. He couldn't even formulate an answer to that question. His face was a mess, but the kind of mess Loki loved to watch and admire.
- Ok, let's do something - He took Peter by the collar of his sweater and brought him closer to him. - The next time you kiss, you have to do it like this
Loki moved so fast that the youngest didn't even have time to react when he realized that their lips were joined in a kiss. It seemed tender at first, but Loki began to move them.
The rhythm was slow but the pressure was noticeable and with each movement, Peter felt like he was sinking into a bed of cotton candy, everything felt as soft as the other's lips. The god, without saying a single word or interrupting the kiss, asked Peter to open his mouth and he immediately obeyed, it was then that he felt that humid warmth invade him. Loki's tongue traveled and massaged the minor's cavity with exasperating slowness and, for some reason, Peter needed more of it, he wanted to feel more of him and for him to do what he wanted with him.
One of the mortal's hands clung to the young god's clothing while the other entangled in the silky hair of the man who was taking possession of his mouth at that moment. Peter was looking to deepen the kiss and Loki didn't hesitate to oblige. The minor did not want to be separated, he was enjoying it so much that he felt drunk. He had never been drunk before, but that's how it must feel, right?
The gasps replaced the silence that was in the room as their burning lungs became desperate for some air.
They broke the kiss. They had to.
Loki was satisfied to see what he had provoked in Peter while the mortal had a lost look in his eyes mixed with the feelings Loki's lips on his had left. Reality seemed distant and he couldn't help but wish for more.
- And that is how you kiss, Peter.
The god’s voice brought him back to Earth and it was just then that he realized what had just happened. Peter was petrified, he didn't know what to do or say, not even where to look now and he was sure that his face was not very different from his mask in terms of colors… Loki liked that, but he wouldn't tell him because right there he decided that that flushed face was a work of art. One that he had created and that he wanted to keep it for himself.
- Pete? - he said with a slightly wider smile- could you give me back my arm?
The kid didn’t understand the request so Loki showed him with a slight nod. Peter's hand was gripped tightly on the Asgardian's bandaged arm.
- S-sorry! I'm so sorry, I didn't realize! - he let go immediately - I didn't mean to, Loki.
“Loki” That name tasted so sweet in his mouth now. It echoed in his mind reverberating in every single one of his bones
- It's fine, Pete. Don’t worry - He got off the desk and sat on the edge of Peter’s bed. - besides I think it's my fault for being such a good kisser, don't you think
- Shut up
Peter wasn’t looking at Loki at the moment, but he could hear the shit-eating grin taking over the other’s face.
- Hey, now that I think about it - he left the chair he was sitting on and stood in front of Loki with a really serious expression. - What the hell happened to your arm?
- Oh, you're going to love this. Do you remember that Thor took me with the guardians? So, we just got to this space station when...
And the conversation went on with complete normality. Peter loved the story, or at least the few parts that he could hear because his mind was completely lost in his thoughts. He couldn't help but look at the green-eyed's arm and feel guilty for wanting to squeeze it again, even if it hadn’t healed at all! if that meant he could kiss the god in front of him one more time.
