It was 8 AM on a Monday and the avengers were called into a meeting, they were informed that unfortunately they have a press conference at 10 AM to have Cap get more into the modern world. So just publicity.
Everyone was annoyed but they understood. Pepper walked in and started a preparation speech.
"Alright, now, i know this unpleasant and most of you know how to deal with press but people like Steve, Thor, Natasha and Clint havent really done press like this. Most questions will be made towards Tony and Steve because of how high their statuses are."
She then started with individual rules like, what to not answer and how to answer controversial questions.
"So, answer to things like sexism, homophobia, transphobia and things surrounding that vaguely as the reporters will try and twist your answers to make you look bad." Steve knew that Pepper clarifying sexism, homophobia and transphobia was almost exclusively amied towards him. No one knew his true opinions, all they knew was the guy the government made or a stereotypical guy from the 40s. No one remembers that Steve doesn't give a fuck what people tell him to say and what not to say. Sexism, Homophobia and Transphobia werent supposed to be "controversial" topics. So he just threw that info out. He knew what he was gonna do. The government already tried press with him in the 40's and it didnt go well.

10:00 AM
"Hello everyone, thank you for coming out. This a general reminder to not ask any sensitive questions and you can and will be removed if needed." Pepper said into a mic before walking off the stage, handing Bruce the mic on her way off. He was on the far end of the table so he could leave if needed.
It was going pretty well until someone asked Cap a interesting question. Thats when it started to go wayy down hill.
"So, Captain America, do you miss the 40's? I bet you'd be getting pretty annoyed at all of these liberals and sissys getting sensitive over time."
Tony took a sharp breath, then Steve remembered it wasn't just the public that thought of him as governments play toy, it was his team mates too. He could see out pf the corner of his eye Bruce preparing to leave if things got to out of hand, he also saw Tony reaching for his mic to defuse the situation. So he did the most logical thing. He quickly grabed his mic before Tony.
"Well, to answer your question, no. Why would i? I dont miss war and chaos. I dont miss inequality, i don't miss not being in control, and i certainly dont miss being called a sissy. No one has gotten sensitive over time. People have just gotten more accepting and are able to feel emotions, and express themselves. In the 30's when i was growing up Bucky started working as soon as he could to help his family. I sadly couldn't, but i sold my art. It was all just work to survive back then. I dont miss that. I miss my friends and family." He finished with a straight face, the reporter looked surprised, and so did his team mates.
"W-well- I just th-thought that-"
The reporter just stoped and sat back down.
After that the other reporters were more hesitant with their questions towards Cap. But it made Steve happy that he could see a slight smile on Bruces face.
Then one brave reporter stood up, again. His question was for Natasha. Because, of course it was.
"So, Black Widow, whats your diet? Other girls need to take a few tips from you."
Steve did not believe the words coming out of that mans mouth. Just as Pepper started her way to the stage to stop the interview, Steve leaned up to mic with his 'im litterly going to beat you to a pulp' face.
"What the fuck kinda question is that? No one needs to take tips from us. Most of us have been traumatized to get to where we are. Natasha is no acceptation." He stood up out of his chair, "apologize or im going to punch you. I don't like bully's," the reporter didnt think he was serious because, why would he? In the eyes of the public he's a standerd, white picket fence american. Pepper thankfully got there in time.
"Okay, im going to have to cut this short, everyone may now exit the building." She said and a curtain came down to separate them and the crowd. She looked back it Steve who was standing with his arms crossed.
"What was that!? I told you to let me handle questions like that! Reporters are like sharks- and you just gave them a full course meal to work with!" Pepper said.
"Well, the government already knew it was a bad idea to let me go into press conferences." He defended himself.
"No- youve never done press- we didnt know how youd do-"
"Exactly, you took a chance. And i did do press, but I did so bad they erased the existence of the tapes and paid off the reporter." He said, he then promptly left to his little apartment in Brooklyn
