Potions

Few months passed. Morning, Moe woke up in bed holding her moon bear doll. She looked around the room. Everyone was still asleep. She saw her moon bear’s mark was glowing.
That’s the message of Claire. If they were sorted to different houses, they promised each other to keep in touch by using the sun and the moon bear dolls to make the signal. Moe changed her clothes, sneaked out of the dorm.

Claire was waiting outside of the Ravenclaw common room. Sunlight covered half of her face. When she turned around, she looked like a devil from hell, surrounded by sunlight.
“What’s wrong?“ Moe asked, “Are you okay?”
“So…you’re a Ravenclaw now.” Claire said. “You said we can study together at Hogwarts!”
“Yes, even though we're in different houses. We can still study together!” Moe looked surprised. “I don’t understand why you’re mad about this.”
“Moe.” Claire looked a bit panicking, holding her hands. “No matter what happens, promise me you will be on my side. Ok?”
“What? Why?”
“Something happened to me, Moe. I don’t know if I can handle it. I need your help.” With the tears in her eyes, Claire’s eyes turned black. Feathers slowly covering her face, her arms, and body. “Graves told me I’m cursed, and he told me that it will never recover.”
“What should we do?” Moe was panicking. “Tell me what I can do for you! Claire-”
Claire screams, her voice overlapping with the beast's.

“Ahhhh!” Moe woke up in bed, panting.
“Are you ok?” Her roommate went to check on her.
“I’m alright.” Moe answered, glancing at the moon bear doll. The mark was glowing.

Sitting in the Great Hall. Claire wears a hooded robe. Covering her face as much as she could. Using fork picking omelet eggs, chewing.
“Hey.” A boy sat next to her spoke.”Are you ok?”
“What? Any problems?” Claire said, without turning her head.
“No. It’s just that…can you take off your hood when you’re indoor? People are looking at you.” The boy reminded her.
“Let them see. There’s nothing.” Claire chopped the eggs into pieces.
“Then, why you–”
Claire grabbed his hand, another hand removed a bit of hood. Feathers covered half of her face and her right eye turned black. “That’s why. See?”
The boy was shocked, swallowed his saliva but didn’t pull her hand away. “Beautiful.”
“Excuse me?” She frowned.
“No…nothing.”
“Don’t say anything, or else I’ll cut off your tongue.” She threatened. The boy nodded nervously and continued finishing his breakfast.

“Claire.” After finishing breakfast, Moe found Claire, who was ready to leave the Great Hall. “I saw the signal. What’s wrong?”
“Let’s go to some place that’s more private.” Claire walked to the corridors, which has windows to let in the sunshine.
Moe thought about the dream last night. “It’s about the cursed thing, right?”
“How did you–”
“I’ve dreamed about it. I don’t know why…maybe it’s some kind of…precognition dream?" Moe guessed. “Can I see it?”
“Fine, but not here.” Claire said, grabbed her hand and went to the girl’s bathroom.

They entered the girl’s bathroom, closed the door. Claire took off her hood and turned her head. Showed her face to Moe. “Is it really bad?”
“Believe me, I’ve seen the worst.” Moe answered. Claire was anxious, scratching her hair and walking around.

“Graves gave me a gem as an amulet, but somehow it didn't work.”
“Did your roommates see it?” Moe asked.
“No.” Claire shook her head. “I woke up early, so nobody saw it.” Except for the boy who sat next to her earlier. She thought. “So what are we going to do? I can't keep wearing this forever.”
“Should we ask my dad about it? Because he told you the curse, he might know how this works?”
“I think he doesn't know either.” Claire frowned.
“But he gave you this gem.” Moe looked at her. “How can someone know the gem can be an amulet but doesn't know how to cure the curse?”
“But we can’t just keep relying on your dad. I guess I need something…like pills or medicine to help me keep this thing away.”
“How about potions?” Moe’s voice sounded excited. “I remember we’re having potions class today. Maybe we can go to ask the professor about it.”
“But how? Are we just going straight to talk about the curse?”
“We don’t have a choice.” A pause, Moe asked. “Speaking of which, have you seen Moaning Myrtle?”
“Oh, probably hide somewhere because she’s too frightened to see me.” Claire smiled and turned her head. Moaning Myrtle was floating right behind her. “EAHHH!”

“Ooooh. Are you the monster everyone was talking about?” Moaning Myrtle asked, pointing at her face. “You look…different.”
“So what? Don’t you crying or moaning while I’m here, or else–”
“Don’t mind her, she's just having an angry issue.”
“Moe!”
“Moaning Myrtle, have you seen this before?” Moe asked politely.
Moaning Myrtle shook her head. “No, sorry I can’t help you guys.”
“It’s ok, we’ll figure this out. Thanks.” Moe said, glancing at Claire. “Let’s go to the potions classroom before class. Maybe the professor will help you.”
