Thunderstorm
Asgard's usual summer is replaced with ferocious thunderstorms. Thor, the God of Thunder is not happy. Nope. Not at all! He's angry… Angry with everyone!
As Thor wanders around his bedside in anger, stomping his feet and occasionally destroying a thing or two that dared interrupt his stroll he pondered over the day's events.
At first, he was angry with those ferocious beasts, the Frost Giants… he swears, if he gets a chance, he would kill each and every one of those hideous beasts. How dare they attempt to attack him, the Crown Prince of Asgard. The cowardly beasts had to backstab! Those beasts would not have been living while his brother is fighting for his life in the healer wards, had his father not thwarted him from felling the vicious beasts.
Even to think about his father, The King of Asgard, running from the battleground, turning away from the enemy, defending them even, boils his blood in anger. How could he ask the guards to stop him from visiting his beloved little brother?
Brother, Loki! Impaled upon the frost spear, blood spurting from his hand and chest, too weak… For that one moment, Thor felt he had lost his brother forever… That his brother's spilled blood would not be avenged.. Loki had looked so astonished and frightened.. It reminded him of their childhood.
He would look up to him for help and hug him when he felt threatened, hoping that hugging his big brother would save him from the enemy. When did he stop protecting Loki? Wait! Why did Loki stop seeking him as a big brother? When was the last time Loki hugged him willingly? Could it be that Loki still holds grudges against The Warriors Three and Lady Sif for making fun of him for hugging him, once, nearly five hundred years ago? He had laughed along with them and Loki had seemed so upset. Is it why he never hugs him anymore and doesn't even permit him to initiate the hug? He knew Loki could hold grudges, but 500 years? Well, it did look childish and too intimate…no wonder he had laughed then… But he really does want to hug Loki now!! He really should have apologised to Loki… will he, will he get a chance now?
His brother is still so young! He can't die… Nay! not so soon, not in such an un-glorifying manner! Loki's actions to save him and father were brave, yes! But dying from a cowardly blow! Unacceptable! He needs to see his brother now and hug him now (to do hell with what the warriors think about hugging!) He needs to know he is doing well. He'd even make sure nobody's around.. Apologise and give a big bear hug to his little brother. Yes, this seems like a good plan. Loki wouldn't mind a hug when nobody's watching.
Thor gets up from his bed to leave and rushes towards the gate when he realises that he isn't permitted to see his little brother. His father is being unreasonable and cruel! How could he stop him from seeing Loki?
Deep down, father's words rung in his ear…”you have betrayed the trust of your people…” He had betrayed his brother… left him to die when he promised he would protect! To think of it… He had not protected Loki in a long time…be it from the stupid mockery, humiliation of his talent, their stupid quests or today's final blow… what if Loki dies today protecting his elder brother, while he was in charge of protecting him! Loki was protecting him all this time with barely any credit to his merit… There were so many apologies pending and credits he said he would give later… was Loki resentful in his last moments. No his brother would live through this, wouldn't he…he always does… But what if he didn't? The realisation struck so hard that that storm outside came to a sudden still and turned into a heavy but still shower. All the pent up anger melted into tears as the great Lord of Thunder slipped next to his bed and cried for the first time in centuries!
