For the Better, For the Worse?

On reflex, Loki immediately used his teleporting skills, transported himself in front of Odin and the back of Thor and streched out his hand in front of him to block, whatever that is, from coming near any of them with seidr. The seidr was a shield against weapons, but elemental seidr of frost wielded by the giants could not be thwarted! He should have known this, he should have remembered this!!!

Before he could even react, the frost - formed spear penetrates through the palm of his hand and reaches straight to his chest, piercing the armour, clothes, skin and flesh beneath.

“Ughh!” A pained gasp is all that escapes through Loki. All thoughts leave him. This wasn't supposed to happen, this never happened! He cannot die, he cannot d..i..e! Slowly his thoughts begin to become confused as blood starts to gush out through the wound of his impaled left palm and chest. If he even moves slightly, the spear would move and could make this worse!

The sound makes Thor look behind and finds the horrifying sight of his brother being impaled upon a frost spear. With an anguished scream he throws his hammer on the Frost Giants around them injuring at least three in one throw. That gets Odin's attention who looks from his angry, battle frenzied elder son to his injured younger. He watches as the bloodied Mjolnir begins to return back to Thor, who prepares to throw it again, while the other warriors also prepare to fight with weapons now withdrawn. Does nobody think Loki needs help? The youngest just saved Thor and instead of helping and saving his younger brother, he goes straight for the battle? Loki looks as if he would lose his stead so Odin moves and holds him straight, stabilising the wound piercing and calls on to Heimdall.

A very mad Thor, and his band of friends along with nearly unconscious Loki and bloodied Odin in Loki's blood reach the Observatory.

“I will get them for this!” Thor thundered. “Why did you not let me make them pay for their actions father? They tried to kill me, or you. It was intended to kill, by cowardly backstabbing had Loki not thwarted it! They injured Loki!”

Loki looks ashened, paler than his regular complexion and had his worry for the youngest had not been greater than his anger on Thor, he would have left him to fight his own battle of making. But it is Loki that deserves his complete attention right now and he's not answering Thor and wasting time! He quickly reaches for Gungnir's seidr and teleports himself and Loki to the Royal Healers Rooms. This startles the healers followed by gasps as they grasp the condition of the younger prince. Odin cannot bring to remove himself as the Head healers take charge and slowly but courteously push him away from Loki in order to gain access to the wound. A worried father and a furious King is definitely not required for healing. He slowly walks out of the healing chambers, struggling in not tearing up at the sight of his injured, pained son. He does not want his last words from Loki to be through a messenger, telling him he agreed to a stupid act as he was not the leader, the decision maker, powerless even though he was equipped with knowledge as to how stupid the act was! His last meeting with his son cannot be one consisting of lies! The last look his son gave him was a glare! The son who had always looked up to him in admiration, who would seek his approval and appreciation! His son who didn't ever know his origins… had he told him the truth earlier this afternoon, none of this would have happened. Loki would have known the reason behind his dreams, Thor would have known the Frost Giants are not monsters, he came to love one as his brother! A brother who now probably lays on his death bed, martyred protecting him and his lying father!

Lost in thoughts Odin reaches the training arena to find it empty except for the treasoners of the treaty. Despair burns into flames of anger yet again.

“How does Loki fare, father?”

“What do you care? Didn't you decide to take avengeance instead of seeking out to protect your brother, who had just sacrificed himself for your sake? Didn't you try to begin a battle while being surrounded by the enemies from all around you, without a notion of care how defenceless you left your brother in that condition?”

“What was I supposed to do? Quiver in cowardice, running away after being attacked instead of proving to them that I don't fear them and that they will repay for their action in blood!”

“You left your brother alone, dying, helpless!”

“They needed to know that I do not fear them and can battle them out!”

“A good king does not seek battle, Thor! Do you remember anything I've taught you?”

“I remember an old king afraid of battle. The realms laugh at our cowardice! The Frost giants dared to attack us, dishonoured you and you still talk of peace!”

“Your brother can die from the injury he gained from your foolish expedition to Jotunheim, his blood will be on your hands Thor! Thor, Odin's Son, through your arrogance and stupidity, you have opened these peaceful realms and innocent lives to the horror and devastation of war… You are a vain, greedy, cruel boy!”

“And you are an old man, and a fool!”

“Yes… I was a fool to think you were ready to be the King. You have betrayed the trust of your people and until further notice, the coronation stands cancelled and you are relieved of your princely duties and be confined to your room. I am yet to inform your mother of your brother's condition. I would have given you a much worse sentence but I'm too aggrieved about your brother at present.”

Author's note: Odin in this present is aggrieved and guilty about nearly losing his one son and realises it could have been prevented. He realises he has failed both his sons. Also he knows he's nearing Odinsleep and it would be stupid if his one son is dying and the other is banished. (No he won't banish Thor because meeting a random Midgardian woman is not going to make him worthy! Although Odin doesn't know that, the entire idea is too stupid.)
