Even though he knew it would happen, he didn't know it would happen so fast. The betrayal set into his heart like a knife.
Loki had out ran Morbius and the rest of TVA agents that tried to chase him. He would have created an illusion to throw them off if he wasn't only running on adrenaline. He was out of sight, and hopefully out of mind for now, alarms still blaring from Sylvie doing whatever she was doing now.
He wanted to be away from it. Away form this blasted place that he was dragged to. At first it was fine, helping Morbius find Sylvie and then teaming up with Sylvie. Discovering the lies of the TVA, but of course it had to fall apart.
There was one person who would probably understand what he was going through. He would also probably try and kill him once he saw him.
Even so, he needed to talk to his brother.
He used a timedoor he had slipped from one of the TVA agents. He may have been overwhelmed but he wasn't an idiot. He opened a portal to a time, he didn't care what time as long as Thor was there.
And there he was on a hill that he remembered well. It was the hill he had seen from the other Varient Lokis memories. Thor was sitting on a rock he remembered well because it was where his father passed away.
At first, he didn't know whether to make a witty comment to get Thors attention approach him with softness. After all, it might be a bit much to see his brother alive for the third time.
Seeing him, however, made up his mind because he couldn't speak, surprised by Thors appearance. Thor was... bigger, sadder and his expression was one of grief.
"Damn ghosts" he muttered painfully, "Must you have to torture me like this?"
His head stayed down, hiding his expression and his face from Loki.
"I-i... no brother i-" Loki muttered.
"Just leave me be" he pleaded.
With the surprise wearing off and the words starting to come back, Loki managed to say, "Brother I am no ghost".
Thor lifted his head to look at Loki, he shook his head and grabbed a rock.
"Yeah sure" Thor said and hurled the rock in Lokis direction.
Loki swiftly caught it and backed up, "What was that for?"
"Loki?" Thor said and stood.
"I know your probably wondering why I'm here..." Loki started as Thor walked towered him, "But I swear to you, I can explain".
"How is this possible?" Thor questioned, "What sort of trickery are you up to now?"
"No tricks" Loki said, raising his hand, "None".
"How many times?" Thor questioned.
"What?" Loki asked.
Thor looked at him, his expression one of anguish, "How many times must I watch you die?"
"Brother i..."
"How many times must I hold you? Try and comfort you? Thanos killed you and you died. I saw it" Thor said, "I felt your heart stop and and your eyes... your eyes".
"I just... i..."
"What lies do you have now?" Thor asked.
"Thor i... there's... there's no lie. No lies tell" Loki said, "What you saw... happened. And I'm not the same Loki you knew, but I know our history" he looked down, "I've been on quite the adventure and I swear to you, the first chance I saw to get to you... I took it".
Thor shook his head, "So what do you want this time?"
Loki looked up at him, tears welling in his eyes as he tilted his head, "Honestly... I just want my brother".
Thor was taken a back from the statement and walked over to hug Loki who was expecting to be thrown across the field.
"Its all my fault..." Thor said.
"No... no. It was Thanos, not you" Loki said firmly.
Thor broke the hug and sat back down. Loki followed and took the place next to him.
"Thousands of our people died because of me" Thor said, "I should have been better... stronger. Done something".
"Thanos had infinity stones. There was... nothing you could have done" Loki said.
"What about you? Why are you really here?" Thor asked.
"I told no lie... I'm here for you. If you'll have me" Loki said, not daring to look Thor in the eyes... or eye.
"Of course" Thor said, a slight offended look forming on his face., "Brother you're always welcome here"
"That's... means more to me than you could ever imagine" Loki said, "I'm sorry for the memories I may bring up".
"Well... You're here now and that all that matters" Thor said, "will you stay?"
"I'd like to" Loki said looking over, his eyes sympathetic, "I have no idea how my presence will affect this time line".
"Whatever it is... We will face it".
"I've... I've been trying to find you in different times. Hoping maybe you'd drag me back to Asgard... or wherever" Loki shook his head, "It sounds mad, but I looked for you in storms".
"I was suspicious of every snake and weird person who came to visit" Thor said and shook his head, "Tell me about these different times. You said you were on a journey of your own right? I'd like to hear the story".
"New York, when I led the chitari and was trying to bring Thanos forces to Earth. After you all captured me I was able to get away with the teseract" Loki said and Thor nodded.
"I remember that and I remember you sending me falling from the sky in a glass box" Thor said, a slight smile.
"It my defense, I knew it was indestructible and I knew you'd be able to survive" Loki said, "I didn't want to kill you".
Thor raised his eyebrows and chuckled, "I punched out of it with Mjornir..."
"Impressive..." Loki said, "I am sorry for that".
"No you aren't" Thor said with a smirk.
Loki shook his head and smiled, "as I was saying... I didn't get very far before the TVA captured me..."
"TVA?" Thor questioned.
"Oh... the Time Varient Agency" Loki said, "since I strayed from my path, I was arrested so to speak. They needed my help to capture different Loki varients including Syl-".
"Sylvie?" Thor asked.
"How did yo-"
"Brother... don't you remember?" Thor asked, squinting his eyes.
"Remember what?" Loki asked.
"Amora..." Thor said, trying to ring a bell in his mind.
Loki still confused shook his head.
"The Enchantress" Thor said, "The crazy Midgardian woman who I saved and she fell in love with me. Her Midgardian name was Sylvie".
"Meaning?" Loki asked.
"She's not a Varient" Thor said, shaking his head, "Shes simply acting as a... Loki as you say".
"But... that's not possible" Loki said, "she told me her memories. Of Asgard".
"She read your mind. Listen, you used to shapeshift into a girl when you felt like it" Thor said, setting a hand on his shoulder, "We'd adjust to it. We had an extra room just so you'd feel comfortable with a more feminine room. You don't remember any of this?"
"No... how do you?" Loki questioned.
Thor looked up and sighed, "I'm the one who corrected everyone. Tell them that you were my sister for the moment. I remember how you looked as well, you'd have blonde hair to look like mother".
Loki shook his head, trying to remember this but when he didn't, Thor went on.
"I used to sit with you and color pictures of Asgardian princesses and watch the Valkyries train" Thor said, "and when you'd shift back to as you are now, we'd play with wood swords..."
Loki looked up at him, a sad expression, "What did Odin think?"
Thor paused, "It... might have taken a long while for him to understand, but he eventually accepted you. In our teens, it happened one last time and then never again".
"She read my mind?" Loki asked, "and she took those memories as her own".
"Its possible she could have charmed you as well and made you forget them" Thor said, thinking for a moment, "She has pulled stunts like these... but... nothing involving... what you've described".
"How could I have been so blind?" He said to himself, "I didn't know..."
Thor shook his head, "The Enchantress has a way about her. She can fit any persona and obviously, she did with you. I don't know how she presented herself to you but you have to know she was only messing with you".
Loki looked down and sighed, "yes well... I'm coming to that realization now".
Thor stood and gestured for him to follow, "you have a place here. Come and go as you please and... well hope that no one recognizes you when you go into town".
Loki followed Thor as he showed Loki around. Many Asgardians were surprised to see the former prince out and about. And alive.
"Why are... there so few..." Loki muttered.
Thor looked at him gravely, "we were already few when we evacuated everyone during Ragnarok. Some survived and some didn't. Then Thanos attacked and killed many. Some were able to get away and regrouped here. It was you who gave that order".
"Some people look less than happy to see me" Loki muttered.
"On the contrary. They are glad to see see you, just surprised" Thor said as they approached his home at the top of a hill.
Korg was inside playing a video game and looked over to greet Thor, "Good day mate. Oh didn't know you were still alive. You going to be here for long? Meik is making pizza beagals".
"Er... what are those?" Loki asked.
"Its just like the earth food pizza. Marinara, cheese, pepperoni. Just smaller" Thor said, "it's good you'll like it".
Thor walked off and Loki followed into another room. It was like a throne room, but cozier. Thor sat one of the couches and loki followed.
"Its not often I see you in Midgardian ropes" Thor said.
"Well they destroyed mine when I arrived" Loki said, "erm your style is quite different than I remember".
Thors eyes fell and Loki was scared he had done something wrong. He tried to think of something to say to get his mind off it.
"Its been very difficult these past few years" Thor said, "I could have stopped Thanos and.. I failed. Then I finally got my chance... It did not make me feel any better".
"You killed Thanos?" Loki said, surprised, "I thought... I thought he was still alive".
Thor shook his head, "About Sylvie brother... what do you plan to do?"
"I'm not sure yet... but whatever I do... will you help?" Loki asked.
Thor stood, "are you asking me to drop everyone and join you in hunting down a mad women ravaging an agency I've only just heard of now. Get your memories back, defeat Amora and save the agency".
"I could care less about the TVA" Loki said, "they have it managed, we just need to get to Sylvie".
Thor raised his hand and for a moment, Loki actually thought Thor would just throw him across the room. Instead, Thor caught Stormbreaker, a flash of lighting making his eyes glow with bright light.
"Sounds like an adventure" Thor said, cracking his neck, "Where do we begin?"
