Jailbreak
[the Vault, NYC, 1AM]
Dark. Quiet. Dreadful.
Silence rings throughout the halls of the prison, so loudly, in fact, that you could hear a pin drop. The sound of a guard’s footsteps tapping against the floor, as they were monitoring each cell, was making its attempt to drown out the stillness. Everything seemed normal. Every cell contained criminals who glared and spat at the passing officer. At least one or two prisoners were out like a light. All was well on the upper level of the prison, but when a guard on the lower level approached one of the last few cells, something was amiss. One cell, in particular, contained Otto Octavius, more well-known as Doc Ock. Everything seemed completely normal…except for the fact that the doc and his inmate had escaped. The guard stepped closer to the cell, aiming his flashlight towards the ceiling, noticing that the vent had been unscrewed. Suddenly, the cell door swung open and knocked the guard off his feet. To his and his colleagues' horror, all of the other cells had opened as well, prompting all of the prisoners to escape.
“Captain! Do you read me? Over,” one of the guards shouted into his walkie-talkie. With no response, he made another attempt. “Captain! Do you read me? Over!” he repeated. Still no response. “Where the hell is he?!” the other guard asked in frustration. Little did they know that Captain Stacey was in the security room, tied up in Doc Ock’s robotic arms.
“No need to worry,” Doc Ock chuckled as he spoke through the intercom. “Your captain is safe with me. He’s in good hands…” he said, his sinister tone clearly meaning the opposite as his grip on Stacey tightened, beginning to strangle him. A loud boom shook the walls of the prison, shortly followed by a continuously blaring alarm. The guards frantically got up and darted to where the boom came from. They discovered other officers who had been knocked out by the escaping prisoners. Behind them was a massive hole in the wall, most likely left by Rhino. One of the guards ran out, readying his gun for self defense. He turned and saw the raging stampede of villains barreling towards him. Grabbing hold of his gun, the guard whipped it out and pointed it at the mob. Like the rest of the force, he was unsuccessful. The prisoners’ however had succeeded with their escape, hijacking the helicopters and flying away from the Vault and back to New York City.
“That’s the last of them..” Doc Ock chuckled sinisterly. From the shadows, Tombstone stepped out. “Perfect…” he said with a low growl in his voice.
