Chapter 1
Ok so to explain the timeline a bit, (assuming Rise of the Guardians and Phase 3 of the Avengers movies take place on the date of their release). We start on October 12, 2016, so after all of the 2016 Marvel movies, or during the events of Doctor Strange which bridged the gap between the 2016 and 2017 movies. Now if you didn’t read the summary, I am not that good at Avengers lore, I got into that last year. Also, I have not read the “Guardians of Childhood books” so correct me and I will change the story, or I will just make it however I want it because this is my fanfiction. So from what I have researched the only “magic” the Avengers know of is Asgardian Magic (correct me if I’m wrong). And I’m pretty sure they have never seen (or seen much of) spiritual beings that are not made of matter but more magic, like the Guardians who, seemingly do not have material bodies, but are more spirits tethered to the Earth through magic and whatnot. So they will likely be very freaked out, especially Tony.
As for the ROTG side of things. Everything has been going well. Believer numbers are sky-high (kind of since we are in the Marvel multiverse and we know how traumatizing that is). The Burgess kids are growing up. Assuming Jamie, Pippa, Cupcake, Monty, Caleb, and Claude were all 8 during the events of the movie, and Sophie was 2, they are now 12 and 6. Now for this fanfiction, let’s believe that due to their curiosity (Jamie’s obsession with myths), they discover magic is real, and beg North to teach them. North eventually complies, but says the first year will ONLY be studying magic theory, rule, and law. Much to the kids’ dismay. As of now they only know simple spells like levitation, light conjuration, and of course “I believe, I believe, I believe”. According to the Rotg Wiki, believers can use magic, restore dreams, and heal. I don’t know the extent of these abilities so tell me more about them in the comments. I headcanon that Jamie and Jack are related, it just makes so much sense to me, Jake and Jamie figured this out before the start of this fanfiction. This will be a chaotic mash between Rise of the Guardians and Guardians of Childhood lore so it will be messy and I will leave things out. I hope you enjoy this, but again this will likely be trash.

I love Fall, It’s the only season cool enough to be comfortable for me. The wind is wild and playful as well, we play plenty of pranks this season. Also, my birthday is in the Fall, so I didn’t care much about it, (mostly because I didn’t know what my true birthday was). I thought I was born the second I came out of that pond. Now having regained many of my memories, I know November 22 was my birthday. I didn’t think it would be any special since I never celebrated my birthday, but man, the Guardians, and the kids sure know how to plan a party (maybe I’ll write fanfiction about this).
I soared above the Pennsylvania forests admiring the color change. And then I saw it, home. Burgess, formerly known as Hawthorn the place where I now know I was born. The place where my family is, which includes Jamie. I don’t think I should have favorites as a Guardian, but he’s my favorite. I see the kids’ school in the distance, and land on the fence waiting for school to be out. Oh, how I wish winter could come soon so I could bring more snow days. 15 minutes pass and after pranking 4 staff members the bell finally rings. And the kids come rushing out I look around and then I see Jamie, talking with Monty about the order of the Presidents.
“I’m pretty sure Grover Cleveland took office AFTER Benjamin Harrison, Monty,” Jamie said.“No Benjamin Harrison took the office after Grover Cleveland,” Monty replied. “Actually, You guys are both correct,” I said, swooping down to talk to them. “Jack!” yelled both of the younger boys. “Hey kids,” I said. “Jack it’s been nearly a month what happened?” Jamie asked. “ Oh, It’s just been difficult to get the heat to lay off, Global warming is heating the planet. It’s been a bit hard for us colder spirits. Even spirits of the heat and summer don’t like the rising temperatures, things are all out of wack”
“You guys can handle it though, right?” The brunette boy questioned. “Of course, most spirits are used to change, the weather changes all the time, it’s just that those changes usually don’t last long, or have that big of an impact. But Global warming affects the whole planet, and it is not going away anytime soon. It’s only getting worse.” Jack’s eyes darkened, but he regained his composure. “But you don’t have to worry about that, at least while you're kids”. “Yeah, it’s bad”, Monty jumped in. “But, hopefully, it gets better, Many young people are realizing there needs to be a change, and we can be that change, all we have to do is believe.” “Well said Monty,” I said, bumping his fist.
They began to walk to school, talking about school and recent events. “Wait so me and Monty were both correct?” Jamie looked up at me.“Yes, Grover Cleveland was in office from 1885-1889, then Benjamin Harrison took over during 1889-1893, and then Cleveland became president again between 1893-1897” “Ooohhh” “Yeah I guess that makes sense. Hey, I’ll head my way now, goodbye Jamie, bye Jack.” Monty said. “Bye Monty,” Me and Jamie said, waving our hands.
As we entered the Bennett house I guided Jamie up to his room, I couldn’t wait to see his reaction. “Ok, what are we up here for” Jamie asked. “Just wait a second, close your eyes.” He closed his eyes, and I took a box out of my pocket. “Now open them” Jamie opened his eyes and gasped. “Woah, what’s inside?” he exclaimed, “Open it.” Jamie took the box and took off the top. “WOW! A watch!” I chuckled, “Not just any watch, put it on.” Jamie took the watch out of the box and immediately upon contact the watch turned gold. Jamie gasps “Now it's gold.” “Yeah, this is a special watch made by the Guardians.” “Wow, you guys didn’t need to go all out just for a watch,” Jamie told me. “I told you, it's not just any watch”.
The watch in question had a gold body a dark screen and a small red button at the side. “Push the red button.” Jamie did so and then the watch lit up.” The screen turned dark blue with 5 circles colored red, yellow, green, blue, and white. “Ok, you see the dots?” I said. “Mmhm” Jamie replied. “Ok, so the red one is for emergencies only, like deathly emergencies, when you or other people are about to die. It sends a message to everyone with another watch of the same kind and it will tell them that you are in serious trouble and will direct them to your location. Again only for deathly emergencies. The yellow one is also for emergencies but not the immediate kind. The yellow one sends a message, but only to specified people you can customize the specified people but we have defaulted it to your friends and the Guardians. The Green one is the basic menu it brings you to a collection of apps that you can use. The blue one is a call button where you can store contacts and call anyone with or without a watch, regardless of wifi connection though. The white one brings you to a page that looks and acts like those electronic watches you guys have, as a disguise.”
“Wow, that’s so cool, how long did it take you guys to make this?” Jamie asked. “Oh well, North has been tinkering with this for months now,” I said. “Months!” Jamie gasped. “Ooohh yeah. We have been thinking of a good way to communicate over distance aside from letters delivered by the wind. It also helps us know your location, if you’re in danger, and more.” “Gosh! It almost feels like Christmas.” Jamie was ecstatic I loved seeing him smile. “Press the green button” Jamie did so and multiple bubbles appeared. “Those are all apps that can be used for multiple purposes. The circle labeled M and colored green is a manual and will teach the mechanics. We have decided to let you handle this watch so you can understand its mechanics early on.” “Early on?” Jamie sent a questioning look at me. “Yup. This Saturday there will be a meeting between the Guardians and you guys. We will give all of you one of these watches. You have early access so you can help your friends understand that day.”
“This is amazing, should I tell my friends about this?” I chuckled, “Yes, let them know in advance. We have not decided the precise hour so you guys can choose for yourselves so we don’t disturb your plans. Tooth will send fairies on Friday at 3 so you guys can tell us.” “Wow, thank you, Jack. Can you tell the other Guardians thank you as well?” “Of course” We hugged each other. Jamie was warm. I mean, obviously, he’s warm, especially to a winter spirit like me. But I loved his touch, he was like a brother to me. We parted and I headed to his window, there were still things that needed to be done “I’ll have to leave now, Guardian stuff.” I said solemnly. “It’s alright, we’ll see each other on Saturday right?” “Yes, see you there Jamie”, “See you there, Jack.”
I flew out of his window rushing to the North Pole. North wanted to find out new ways to bring wonder to kids this Christmas. With the rise of the “Ipad kid” the Guardians, especially North, are concerned about kids losing their imagination. Kids aren’t going outside as much, they are sticking to their screens, they are becoming increasingly impatient, rude, and lack many childhood wonders. Jack has been seeing this occur, it is especially prevalent in the United States. But Burgess seems to be doing well, the kids have been protecting wonder and hope, all around town, sharing the Guardians’ story with other, younger kids. They have been a good help here in Burgess. Jack loves hearing them tell kids about their lives. Jamie wrote a story about Easter 2 years before for a creative writing assignment. North wants to find a way to bring wonder to the newer generation, and not just Christmas but year round. Jack sees the pole in the distance and rushes inside to meet the other Guardians.
