The Truth about Toni Stark

Everyone was shocked to see Toni and Bucky walk into the theatre room with smiles on their faces. Considering how things left off with Bucky running out of the room looking guilty, they didn't expect to see him and Toni so happy together.

Steve walked over quickly to grab Bucky from Toni but Bucky shrugged him off.

"We are having a talk later," Bucky growled, before sitting next to Sam Wilson but towards the aisle where Toni was close by.

The screen started playing again.

YINSEN
But what could it generate?

TONI
If my math is right, and it always is, three gigajoules per second.

YINSEN
That could run your heart for 50 lifetimes.

"That's insane," Carol states.

"Yeah it's why we are the face of renewable energy," Toni replies.

TONI
Yeah. Or something big for 15 minutes.

Yinsen starts lookingat sheets of paper with Tony

TONI
This is our ticket out of here.

YINSEN
What is it?

TONI
Flatten them out and look.

Yinsen flattens the sheets out to see a drawing of a metal suit.

"Oh my god," Bruce breathed. "You made it in a cave?"

"This is the best day of my life," Shuri squeals.

Toni just playfully roles her eyes at the two. Everyone else gives them both weird looks at the fawning over the blueprints.

YINSEN
Oh, wow. Impressive.

TONY
Let's put it in.

Toni is lying on a workbench, Yinsen craning over her.

INT. TONY'S OFFICE - STARK INTERNATIONAL - DAY

Pepper enters and is surprised to see Obadiah sitting behind Toni's desk, head in his hands.

OBADIAH
Sorry, did I startle you?

PEPPER
A little...

He watches as Pepper swaps yesterday's unread L.A. Times and Wall Street Journal with today's. Her little vigil. Stane rises, gazes out the windows at the vast Stark compound. Pepper comes up behind him.

OBADIAH
This was a bad idea, I should never have let her go over there... He starts to break down. She touches his shoulder.

"What a pathetic liar," Pepper scoffs. "I can't believe we all fell for his act."

"What happened?" Scott asks. Everyone except Toni, Peter, Pepper, Nick and Rhodey are confused at the animosity directed towards Obadiah.

"You'll see," growls Fury.

PEPPER
Hey, hey...we've got to be strong, she's going to be okay.

He composes himself, nods.

INT. LAB - CAVE - WEEKS LATER - DAY

Toni is wearing her dress pants she arrived in and a singlet, and is seen to be filthy, cutting metal flat- stock with a torch. Her shirt is revealing the glowing RT device in her chest. She snuffs the torch.

Toni secretly begins filling a cylinder with gas from the torch.

The door-slat flies open. It's Abu again. He barks, more stern than usual. Toni stops, the secret cylinder she was filling clatters to the floor. Yinsen notices, looks at Toni.

Everyone was silent in the room, tension high, watching Abu walk into the room.

Abu, Ahmed and Omar enter, followed by RAZA'S GUARDS. They take up positions, rigid. Raza enters (he speaks English).

RAZA
Relax.

They lower their hands. Silence as Raza meanders, picking up and putting things down. He almost steps on Toni's secret cylinder. He shoots Abu a cold look and turns to the workbench and preuses Tony's onion-paper schematics of the missile.

RAZA
The bow and arrow was once the pinnacle of weapons technology. It allowed the great Genghis Khan to rule from the Pacific to the Ukraine.

"What?" Clint cried incredulously. "It is still a pinnacle."

Natasha just shook her head fondly at her best friend. He may be good at other weaponry, but he will never be seperated from his bown and arrow.

He pushes the schematics around trying to make sense of them.

RAZA
Today...whoever has the latest Stark weapons rules these lands. Soon it will be my turn...

A beat as Raza looks back and forth between Yinsen and Toni.

RAZA (to Yinsen in Urdu)
What's really going on here?

YINSEN (in Urdu)
Nothing. We're working.

RAZA (in Urdu)
It's been a long time. Where's the weapon?

YINSEN (in Urdu)
She's working very hard. It's very complex.

Yinsen flicks a glance at Toni, who watches apprehensive.

RAZA (to Abu, in Urdu)
Get him on his knees.

Yinsen is forced to his knees by Abu and Ahmed. Using tongs, Raza lifts a hot coal from the furnace and approaches Yinsen.

Everyone is silent, watching the scene play out.

RAZA (in Urdu)
Tell me what is going on?

YINSEN (in Urdu)
Nothing! NOTHING is going on.

RAZA (in Urdu)
OPEN YOUR MOUTH!

Yinsen won't do it. Abu and Ahmed force his mouth open. The coal starts heading for Yinsen's mouth. He struggles.

RAZA (in Urdu)
TELL ME NOW!

"What a brave man," Thor compliments.

"He really held out for you," Clint praises Yinsen.

"He was the best," Toni says quietly, leaning on Rhodey for support.

Nobody but Bucky, Natasha and Clint pick up on the words, was.

YINSEN (in Urdu)
He's building your bomb.

TONI
What do you want? A delivery date?

Toni tries to go towards Raza and Yinsen but the other men pull their guns on him.

TONI
I need him. Good assistant.

The glowing coal nearly at Yinsen's mouth now....then Raza drops the coal on the floor in front of Yinsen and leaves. Raza's men follow and slam the door shut.

Yinsen gathers himself.

RAZA
You have two weeks to build my missile.

"Fuck," Sam swears, and before Steve can comment Natasha shoots him a scathing look causing him to be quiet.

INT. LAB - CAVE - DAY

Toni wipes her face, pulls on a pair of gloves as she goes to the furnace. She takes a white-hot piece of metal from the forge and starts pounding on it.
Yinsen, soldering a complex circuit, looks up. He is struck by the image of Toni strong and resolute, hammering away.

Sam let's put a short whistle. Not many people had seen Toni outside of suits and gala dresses. Nobody knew how physically strong her physic was.

"I never knew you were built," Clint comments.

"The original suit built in her own house alone weighs roughly 200 pounds. She often moves machinery, equipment and whatever she has made, by herself. Of course Toni is built," Carol says stiffly.

"Not to forget the multiple martial arts and combat and self defence training she has been doing since she was 6," adds in Fury. "She would give some of you a run for her money, even without the suit."

They all sit there in silence. They really knew nothing about Toni. They all thought Toni was nothing without her suit, not know she was trained and raised by spies, the arm, and had one of the highest IQ's the world has ever seen.

YINSEN (O.S.)
My people have a tale, about a Prince -- much hated by his King -- who was banished to the underworld and jailed there...

BOOM! BOOM! The hammer blows ECHO.

YINSEN (O.S.)
The evil King gave him the most difficult labor -- working the iron pits.

Toni's muscles ripple, sweat flying.

Bucky couldn't help but stare at awe at Toni working. He had obviously never seen her in her workshop and only seen her in her Ironman suit. During his time in the tower he rarely saw her because Steve kept him far away from her and she was usually in her workshop.

YINSEN (O.S.)
Year after year the Prince mined the heavy ore, becoming so strong he could crush pieces of it together with his bare hands. Too late, the King realized his mistake...

Dazzling sparks fly around Toni.

YINSEN (O.S.)
When he struck at the Prince with his finest sword -- it broke in half. The Prince himself had become strong as iron...

Toni, sweating, holds up the metal he's been working on -- A crude iron mask stares back.
She tosses the mask down. It lies there smoking and pulsing with heat.

"Could you imagine if the suit was smiling," Scott joked causing many of Toni's friends to groan.

"Don't give her ideas," Carol scolds.

INT. HALLWAY - STARK INTERNATIONAL HQ - DAY

From down the hallway, Pepper watches Obadiah and Rhodey in close, heavy conversation. Obadiah, grave, looks over and catches Pepper's eye, then he walks off, shaking his head.
Rhodey on his way out. Pepper steps into his path.

PEPPER
So that's it? Everyone's pulling the plug and moving on...

RHODEY
There's nothing left we can do. If there was any indication Toni was still alive--

PEPPER
Spare me. I read the official e-mail. Thought maybe you'd have something different to say. If anyone could figure out how to beat the odds, it's Toni. If it was you over there, she'd be finding a way to get you back. Or inventing a new one.

RHODEY
What do you want me to do?

PEPPER
Be a better friend to her.

At this, Toni slightly leans away from Rhodey. She can't believe he was just going to give up. She thought he never stopped looking. However, he just listened to his boss over looking for his best friend. Had Toni ruined their relationship to this point? She would have never stopped looking. Just like she would have for Steve to find Bucky if asked.

"Toni," Rhodey whispers. "It's not what it seems."

"Okay, Rhodey."

Rhodey knew he had hurt her when she used his name instead of one of his infamous nicknames. Pepper was sitting there glaring at the screen remembering this conversation as if it had happened yesterday. She remembered never having felt so disappointed in him before.

Even T'Challa, Carol, Hope and Nick are all looking down disappointed. They all knew how loyal Toni was, even if you had recently had an argument. They could have lost Toni forever if Pepper hadn't pulled his head out of his ass.

Rhodey knew that he needed to talk to Toni about this later. He just hoped she would still lean on him when needed during the film because no one but him and Pepper know as many details and even still they don't know all. Toni can be angry later, but for now, he needs to be there for her.

And with that, she storms out, leaving him stung.

EXT. EDWARDS A.F.B. - DAY

Rhodey, duffel slung in front of a C-17, is shipping out on a line of soldiers. General Gabriel pulls up on a golf cart and approaches. Everyone salutes. The General pulls Rhodey aside.

GENERAL GABRIEL
What do you think you're doing, Rhodes?

RHODEY
Going back there, Sir.

"Finally pulling your head out of your ass," Nick says dryly.

"I needed a reminder that some things are more important," Rhodey replies grimly, before turning to Toni. "I shouldn't have needed that reminder though."

Toni nods at what he says and just squeezes his hand showing she heard him.

GENERAL GABRIEL
Listen, son -- it's been three months without a single indication that Stark is still alive. We can't keep risking assets, least of all you.

"You would have thought with who Toni is, people would have been looking for years, not giving up after three months."

"That's the government for you," Toni says bitterly. "Picking and choosing who is more important and when."

"Just like you and the accords," spit out Wanda.

"You don't know the half of the real story behind the accords," Peter defends. "If you had waited half a minute, maybe you would have learnt the truth about the accords."

"What does Peter mean, Toni?" Asks Sam quietly.

"There was a lot more to the accords than anyone thought, and a lot that happened due to the aftermath of the fight in Germany that happened whilst you were all in the Raft. However, no one here has given me the time of day to explain anything, so yes, Peter is correct. What you know that happened before and after the accord signing is 10% to the real story."

"Will we ever know?" Scott asked.

Both Scott, Clint and Sam were conflicted. They had all joined in the fight against Toni by the request of Steve without finding out proper information and all of a sudden they were in the Raft. They don't know the true consequences of their actions because Toni had covered so many tracks.

"Depends if you'll give me the time of day or not. It's been months and no one has," Toni replied sarcastically and before anyone could retort the film continued.

RHODEY
Are you blocking my transfer, Sir?

GENERAL GABRIEL (looking around)
Any one of these guys would kill for your career. Are you telling me you're willing to sacrifice that to fly a bunch of snake-eaters on a desert patrol half way around the world?

RHODEY
I am, Sir.

GENERAL GABRIEL
Then I have one thing to say to you: Godspeed.
He salutes Rhodey. Rhodey salutes back.

GENERAL GABRIEL (to the soldiers)
As you were.

Rhodey turns and heads up the ramp into the loading bay.

INT. LAB - CAVE - A WEEK LATER - DAY

Toni puts the finishing touches on a strange box housing a laser-pointer, fan and tinsel. She tapes the box shut, peeks through a tiny hole in its side.
The strange box Toni was working on is being affixed over the surveillance camera.

A work-light is on, revealing Toni and Yinsen by the workbench. A sensor on Toni's leg is coupled to a contraption. Yinsen watches intently as Toni plugs a wire into her RT 'heart', a moment as Data races up on the crusty laptop...then as Toni moves her leg, the contraption on the table springs to life, responding to her actions. Toni's chest-device, which dims with the power loss. Yinsen and Toni's eyes drift up and hold.

TONI (unplugging herself)
We're ready. A week of assembly and we're a go.

YINSEN
Then perhaps it's time we settle another matter...

Nobody says anything as they continue watching the movie, to enthralled to say anything.

INT. LAB - CAVE - DAY

Toni and Yinsen eat and play backgammon.

YINSEN
Ah, anchoring with 13-7. You know, I have never met anyone who understands the nuances of this game like you.

TONI
Right back at ya.
Silence
You never told me where you're from.

"You've known him for how long and not asked anything?" Steve comments rudely.

"Not that I have to answer to you, but I didn't want to get to close to him if I didn't think we had a chance. I didn't want to lose someone close to me."

Everyone falls silent at the reply.

YINSEN
I'm from a small town called Gulmira. It's actually a nice place. It was a good place... before these men ravaged it.

"Wasn't there an unknown airforce that took down terrorists in that town?" Sam questioned causing Toni to grin and Rhodey to groan.

"You'll see later," Rhodey replied at the questioning looks.

TONI
Do you have a family?

YINSEN
When I get out of here, I am going to see them again. Do you have family, Stark?

TONI
A son. His name is Peter. I adopted him after his aunt passed away. He's my whole world.

"Mum," Peter groans but is secretly beaming at her. He had lost two sets of parents by the time he was 6, she was in all purposes his mother. He remembers his mum and aunt, but Toni raised her, and he believed calling her anything but mum was not being truthful.

YINSEN
That sounds nice, Stark.

INT. RAZA'S CONTROL ROOM - CAVE - WEEK LATER - DAY

Guards pour over a map, discussing heatedly. Others clean and re-assemble weapons. Khalid keeps watch at the monitors.
Yinsen is laboring furiously behind the jig.
Raza enters, wiping his face and neck with a towel. He drifts to the monitors, observes. Troubled he leans in, staring intently.

RAZA (in Urdu)
Khalid. Where is Stark? He taps the monitor.

INT. CORRIDOR OUTSIDE LAB - CAVE - MINUTES LATER - DAY

Khalid arrives, pulls the slat aside and peeks in. He glimpses a disembodied Yinsen working behind the jig.

KHALID
Yinsen! YINSEN!

Yinsen ignores him, keeps working. In the door-slat. Below, the IED 44 cylinder (propane tank Tony filled earlier), is rigged to the door-latch.
Khalid, as he turns to his men, who ratchet their guns. He 45 unlocks the door. It won't open. He shoulders it and the door explodes in his face. Smoke. Debris.

"Holy shit," Bucky breathes. "You can literally make anything out of nothing."

"Give me scraps and the basic equipment and it's my playground."

INT. RAZA'S CONTROL ROOM - SAME TIME - DAY

Raza witnesses the explosion on the surveillance monitor.

INT. LAB-CAVE-SAMETIME-DAY

On the laptop the progress bars are loading slowly.

"You're not going to have enough time," Bruce mutters quietly, catching the attention of a few people around him.

TONY (O.S.)
It's frozen, the systems aren't talking to each other. Reset!

YINSEN
No, they're moving. Very slow.

A bulky chest piece being lowered over Toni. The STACCATO WHINE of PNEUMATIC TOOL is heard as Yinsen seals Toni in.

"Thank god you had a second person."

"I was lucky I had Yinsen. He wasn't just a good partner. He was a good friend."

Multiple people at that point had caught on to the word, had.

YINSEN
Okay? Can you move? Okay, say it again.

TONI
41 steps straight ahead. Then 16 steps, that's from the door, fork right, 33 steps, turn right.

"How do you remember that?"

"Aunt Peggy taught me if I'm ever blindfolded and kidnapped to use my other senses to figure out my way in and out. Then I have an eidetic memory, so it stays forever."

INT. RAZA'S CONTROL ROOM - MINUTES LATER - DAY

Raza, at his monitors, orchestrating his men over the radio.

HALLWAY - DAY
Raza's men cautiously approach.

INSIDE LAB

Yinsen eyes the laptop, the bars creeping ever so slowly. He turns, listening to the SHOUTING MEN outside growing louder.

YINSEN
Let me finish this.

TONI
Initialize the power sequence.

YINSEN
Okay.

TONI
Now!

YINSEN
Tell me. Tell me.

"The stress," Scott mutters to Sam and Bucky who are both watching the screen, nervousness written all over their faces.

Everyone in the room except Wanda and Steve were all sitting on the edge of their seats.

TONI
Function 11. Tell me when you see a progress bar. It should be up right now.
Talk to me. Tell me when you see it.

YINSEN
I have it.

TONI
Press Control "l".

YINSEN
"I."

TONI
"I." "Enter."

YINSEN
Got it.

TONI
"l" and "Enter." Come over here and button me up.

"Come on, Yinsen and Toni," chants Scott, Rhodey, Sam, T'Challa, Hope, Bucky, Nick and Maria. Harley and Peter however were holding their breath in anticipation.

YINSEN
Okay. All right.

TONI
Every other hex bolt.

YINSEN
They're coming!

TONI
Nothing pretty, just get it done. Just get it done.

YINSEN
They're coming.

TONI
Make sure the checkpoints are clear before you follow me out, okay?

YINSEN
We need more time. Hey, I'm gonna go buy you some time.

TONI
Stick to the plan! Stick to the plan!

Yinsen grabs dead Khalid's weapon and runs into the tunnel, firing in the air.

TONI
Yinsen! Yinsen!

Everyone is silent at the sound of Toni's broken screams for Yinsen to stay and keep safe. None of them had heard her that broken and defeated before. Yinsen was her lifeline the entire time she was trapped there.

Rhodey tugs Toni into his chest and she focuses on her breathing to make sure she doesn't have a panic attack at the memory of Yinsen.

OUTSIDE LAB - DAY

Yinsen rounds a corner, encountering Raza's men.
He opens fire -- the men are caught off guard, and retreat. Yinsen chases, firing madly, unleashing pent-up rage.
He enters the outer cavern, and is confronted by Raza and his troops. Yinsen lowers his weapon to the ground.

"Oh no," Scott says quietly. Everyone bows their head, knowing exactly what would happen next.

INT. LAB - CAVE - SECONDS LATER - DAY

Toni is trapped in the suit, watches the loading bars on the laptop get close. Suddenly Multiple BURSTS of gunfire. Tony throws a look. The loading bars on the laptop finish their cycle and -- A surge of power to the suit dims the lights.

"Not the right time, but that looks so cool. Everything goes dark, and just the arc reactor lightens up," Scott says fast.

"It does look super scary and ominous," Sam agrees. "I wouldn't want to face you."

Again, is the unsaid word that nearly everyone thought. Having watched this, they could see exactly how well and unique Toni's brain works.

OUTSIDE THE LAB - SAME TIME - DAY

The lights dim to darkness. Raza's Guards, scared, inch up on the lab. Two of them break off and move forward -- the two Guards go to enter the dark, smoky lab cautiously. It appears deserted. Then, a Guard stops, turns slowly -- in the dark, an eerie glow, twin-flames. The SCREAM of surging METAL and as the two Insurgents SCREAM and are flung back out.
The other Guards fire wildly into the lab. As they re-load there is a THUMP and SCREECH of METAL. A glowing chest plate. The flicker of blue pilot lights, and finally, out of the smoke, the complete nightmare vision -- Iron Man -- the Original Gray Armor.

"Fuck yeah," Rhodey cheers. "Go kick some terrorise ass."

Cheers from Toni's side of the room is heard. Peter and Harley clap the loudest. "Blow some sons of bitches up," they yell.

Steve looks over disapprovingly at the language of the kids but Toni turns and glares at him. "Stop looking at my kids, Rogers. They aren't yours, so butt the fuck out of it."

"I just think their language..."

"Shut the fuck up, Steve," she says tiredly before ignoring him and praying the movie will continue quickly.

The Insurgents backpedal, firing, but Toni keeps coming, feet CRUNCHING on the cave floor.

INT. EXIT TUNNEL - DAY

The crazy streak of tracers, bounce off Toni.
An Insurgent jumps from a side-corridor, firing his pistol point-blank at the back of Iron Man's head.
PING! The bullet ricochets back, killing the man instantly.

"Oh thank fuck," Fury growls. "That could have gone a lot worse."

"But it's my Nicky," Toni teases, trying to pull herself together for what is to come. He just shakes his head exasperated.

As Iron Man clumps towards the light of freedom, insurgents spill out of nooks, in front of him, behind him, firing Toni's arms swivel, knocking Guards down, absorbing countless rounds. The suit is shredding, smoking, pockmarked.

Toni turns into the main chamber and sees Yinsen on the ground.

YINSEN
STOP! STOP!

TONI
Yinsen!

YINSEN
Watch out!

Raza tries to shoot at Tony but misses. Tony shoots back, hitting the wall behind Raza, causing a mini explosion and knocking Raza out.

TONI
Come on.

Tony opens is helmet, sweat and blood pouring down her forehead, tear marks streaking down her face.

Once again everyone was silent. This was the most amount of pure emotions anyone had seen on Toni in a long time. She always covered and protected herself with a wall of narcissism and sarcastic elitist comments but this was proving her otherwise.

TONI
We got to go. Move for me, come on. We got a plan. We're gonna stick to it.

YINSEN
This was always the plan, Stark.

"The entire time, and you never knew?"

"Never."

TONY
We could've made it. Both of us.
You could've seen your family again.

YINSEN
I am going to see them again.
They're waiting for me.

And now Toni understands -- Yinsen's family is dead.

"He was a brave warrior Lady Toni," Thor says quietly.

"He saved me," Toni breathed back, closing her eyes and leaning on Rhodey.

TONI
Thank you for saving me.

YINSEN
Don't waste it. Don't waste your life. You are more than what people think you are.

Yinsen hands Toni a necklace with Regulus constellation on it.

YINSEN
This was my daughters. The brightest star in the Leo constellation. I want you to have it. Never forget Stark. You are better than what you think. Be the brightest star you can be.

"Are you crying?" Clint asks Natasha who he sees brush her fingers against her cheek.

"No, are you crying?" Natasha spits out and Clint just shakes his head.

"No."

"Good, we're both not crying."

However, others in the room couldn't stop their tears.

"You are the brightest star, Mum," Peter says turning to look at her, as both Pietro and Harley nod in agreement, whereas Steve and Wanda look bored of what they're watching.

Sam and Scott however start seeing Toni in a very different light to previous times.

TONI
Yinsen, I can't.

YINSEN
Take it

Yinsen puts the necklace around Starks neck and smiles and then sags into himself, dead.

Toni's eyes change from sorrow to anger. She flips down the mask and steams towards the exit, roaring.

"Shits about to go down," Bruce cheers, trying to lighten the mood, and many chuckle. However others look wary. The stoic mask that Toni put on sent chills down multiple people's backs.

EXT. EXIT TUNNEL - DAY

Raza's men fleeing as a deluge of flame shoots from the tunnel. Then Toni emerges, the gray armor scarred and sizzling. Insurgents keep firing, trying to draw him from the massive ammo dump under the camouflage. But Toni is relentless, keeps moving towards it. A withering barrage of gunfire knocks Tony to his knees.
Another bullet catches a seam and enters his shoulder.
But Tony struggles back to his feet. The suit GRINDS.

TONI
My turn

Bucky couldn't help but bite his lip. He was finding Toni's resilience, her brain, her attitude to the situation, and loyalty extremely attractive. He had always appreciated strong headed, independent women, although they weren't common back in the 40's, and at the time he was what is now known as a player, and didn't mind who he went out with.

However, hearing the deep, murderous voice getting retribution on the stolen weapons, forced kidnapping and death of Yinsen was the final straw for him.

Toni turns his flame throwers on the crates. They begin to burn -- the STARK logos eaten by flames. She pushes further into the maze, torching everything.

"Holy shit," T'Challa breathes. "You had a full on flame flower in your suit."

"Yeah, I don't anymore, but I did for my original one yeah."

"Shuri would love this," he breathes.

"Anytime she wants she's free to join me in the lab, you know that."

Now Toni opens a metal flap on her arm, flips a red switch. A WHINE builds to a ROAR. Toni tucks, angles forward as Heel-boosters glow white hot, kicking up desert plumes -- and then she blasts off like a missile, rising hundreds of feet.

One Insurgent watches dumbstruck, as Toni arcs across the sky towards a mountain pass. And then The first ammo dump ignites. Then another and another, fire roses joining in a hellish conflagration. And barely outpacing the fireball

The gray armor shoots forwards. Tonk clears the mountain ridge by inches, and then her boosters are suddenly spent. She plunges like a human cannonball.

EXT. SAND DUNES - DAY

Toni THUDS into the sand, pieces of the armor splitting away.
Dazed, she struggles from the exo-skeleton.

TONI
Not bad

"Only you would say that," groans Fury, shaking his head at his god daughters commentary.

"To be fair, I built that with scraps in a cave. I was pretty proud of myself."

She staggers into the dunes, away from the smoke and DISTANT EXPLOSIONS.
She's torn up, clutching a bullet wound. She falls, gets up again and keeps moving.

EXT. SAND DUNES - DAY'S LATER - DUSK/ NIGHT

Toni staggers down a dune, dying from thirst. Behind her a USAF Blackhawk suddenly rises over the lip of the dune.

"How long were you out there?" Sam asks quietly.

"I think it was three days? I'm not entirely sure. I only had one bottle of water, so I was quite dehydrated but I'm pretty sure it was three days."

"How the hell did you survive?" Scott asks.

All he received was a shoulder shrug in response.

Waving down the helicopters.

As one of the helicopters lands, Tony collapses to his knees, holding up a peace sign. Rhodey and a few men are seen running up to Toni from the helicopter.

RHODEY
How was the "fun-vee"? Next time, you ride with me, okay?

"Classic Rhodey and Toni," Carol chuckles.

"Can you blame me?" Rhodey grins. "She would have killed me if I went all mushy on her."

Toni let out a small laugh before collapsing in his arms and tears started streaming from her eyes as he pulled her into his lap and pressed a kiss to the top of her head.

Everyone breathed out a sigh of relief at the site of Toni haven't been found safe and somewhat alive.
