Loki
That name was something near and dear to your heart. Well.. Your wrist too. Every one was born with a name on their wrist. Their soul mates name. Whether it was platonic, romantic or any other kind of soul mate couldn't be told till you met. But at least you knew their name right?
Loki was quite the interesting name choice. You found out it was the name of a norse god when you were younger. After that you were always fantasizing about living life like a god with the man of your dreams. You still did occasionally, not that you would admit it.
You hadn't come close to meeting your soulmate. Having such a unique name like "Loki" on your wrist would do that to you. Nonetheless it still drove you nuts. All your friends in high school had found their soul mates by collage or after. While you were alone. You have gone to seven weddings in the last couple years. Being a bridesmaid in a few of them. You were happy for them but you also couldn't help feeling cheated for your absolutely rotten luck.
Well, it couldn't be that rotten. You did have a well paying job that you loved doing. At least most of the time. You worked for none other than Tony Stark. Originally you were just a simple secretary but you volunteered to help with a test project and Tony ended up liking you so.. Now you worked as his "personal assistant". But at this point it was almost as if he was just paying you to be his friend now. Despite the fact he tended to seem rude or harsh most of the time, he was actually rather kind when he wasn't being moody. And when he found out you were living in a tiny New York apartment he had You moved to his tower.
You were finally making yourself into something and you felt good. Like the whole soulmate thing wasn't holding you down anymore. But then disaster struck. The Battle of New york. You were there, but Tony wouldn't tell you anything. He sent you away and you were going to leave.. When the portal opened. You had to make sure your friend was okay. Even if he was Ironman.
You took the elevator to the level with Tony's landing zone. Hoping you weren't too late.
"Tony?" You called as you stepped out of the elevator, but you didn't see Tony immediately. Instead there was a tall man standing before you. A shiver ran up your spine as he turned to look at you. He had raven hair, and icy blue eyes that seemed to gaze right through you as if staring into your soul. He was at least a few inches taller than you –witch said something since you were not in any sense short– and stood with such presence that you knew he had to be royalty.
"And who might you be?" His voice was.. Was.. Difficult to describe. He sounded intrigued but he also sounded as if he was mocking you. It was confusing but enticing at the same time.
"I-"
"Don't tell him anything." Tony cuts you off before you get a chance to speak.
"Why?-"
"Is this one of your friends you were talking about? Stark?" Loki says with a smirk. "Doesn't look like much"
"Excuse me?" You were having none of that. You knew that you weren't very "manly" looking, you were rather stringy, skinny too. You were often mistaken for a women; which more often than not you took as a compliment, but that's not the point here. The point was that you did not like being talked down too. "You should learn not to judge a book by its cover." You say eyes narrowing. This man may by drop dead gorgeous, but he was a jerk and you were still going to demand respect.
"You're a feisty one aren't you?" The man said with a devilish smirk as he stepped towards you.
"Stay away from him!" Tony yelled, the confusing part was that you couldn't tell who he was talking to. The stranger or you.
"You could say that yes." You say, trying to hide the fact that your confidence was beginning to waver. "I'm not going to tolerate some arrogant, pompous man. Push me around or talk down to me."
"Oh I'm no man you foolish mortal, I'm a god and you will treat me as such." His voice was filled with venom in every word.
"You don't look like much of a god to me" You spit back.
"You fowl, little insignificant !" He goes to grab you by the throat.
"Y/N back away!" Tony yells.
The man hesitated. "Wait... Y/n?"
You however did not hesitate in the slightest. The moment he was in reach you punched him right in the face. Somehow you delivered such a blow that he was knocked out cold. But your wrist started to burn hot causing you to wince in pain. You pulled up the sleeve of your shirt to see what it was. Your soulmate mark changed. It was now a deep red. Meaning not only was the man unconscious before you Loki, But he was your romantic soulmate.
