Chapter 1
*Peter was sitting at his desk beside Ned and MJ when the teacher announces their field trip to Stark Industries, he knows that no one believes that he works there, and definitely not that he is the son of the billionaire who runs it which makes his chest feel heavy as he knows this trip is going to be hell for him. The only ones who believe him about the whole internship and parental thing are Ned and MJ. Of course the only teacher who believes him, Miss Honey, isn’t here today and Mr Harrington is subbing for her, as well as announcing the field trip. MJ notices that he looks tense and a bit panicked so she leans over to him*
MJ: Peter! Are you okay? *she whispers quietly as to not draw the attention of Mr Harrington.*
*Peter jumps suddenly and looks up at her, his heart rate rising again, before shaking himself out of his trance like state and nodding*
Peter: Yeah, yeah, I'm fine.
*He says with a slightly strained voice, and she notices that he’s holding his chest*
MJ: let me guess Pete… Flash is tormenting you about the whole internship thing again and telling everyone that you’re lying? *she whispers. Pete was her nickname for him, it was originally started by Tony and now the entirety of the avengers and Peter’s friends call him that.*
*He nods, looking around for possible listeners, and leans over to talk to her quietly*
Peter: Yeah, I don’t know why he hates me so much, I’ve never even talked to him and he’s just been on my ass since day one. And now, with this field trip coming up, he’s started convincing people that I lied to get my internship.
*he says, sounding frustrated but also a little exhausted*
MJ: well he’s just an asshole. Don’t worry, he’ll get humbled real quickly on this field trip. *she says, sounding annoyed with Flash’s antics as per usual. She hates Flash with every inch of her being.*
Peter: I hope so, but I'm kind of worried about it because some of the people he's told are people that I consider my friends too. I mean they're starting to believe him and they're saying things like they don't want to hang out with me as much until they know for sure that Stark hired me. *He says to MJ, sounding disappointed and worried.*
MJ: well you still have me and Ned. Also you have Kate Bishop as well, and Harley so you aren’t alone in that sense Pete. *she says softly as if to comfort him*
*He sighs and nods*
Peter: Yeah, I know, and I’m so grateful for that. But it’s just still upsetting that people I thought of as friends are starting to believe his BS. I mean how can people that know me so well be led to believe something so ridiculous just because one guy said it? *he sounds exasperated as he leans his head against the back of his chair.*
MJ: because he’s the most popular guy in school, I swear those people would believe him if he said he could shit gold. *she says in an annoyed tone as she leans back in her chair*
Peter: *laughs, despite the circumstances, this being a pretty accurate description of it*
Peter: But come on, even if he’s popular it’s not like he’s infallible. The fact that so many people are so quick to assume the worst of me is baffling. It’s like they don’t even care if what he’s saying is true or not because he said it.
MJ: it’s because you’re known as the nerd of the school and no one really knows how you act so they’re quick to believe the popular guy they’re head over heels for instead of you because you’re less popular. Although I bet the ladies would be head over heels for you if they knew that you had those killer muscles and that you’re jacked as fuck. Also how *do* you hide those muscles?
*He smiles a little, blushing slightly as she mentions his muscles*
Peter: *blushing* I just uh… you know, wear baggy clothes and stuff like that. I mean everyone knows that I’m really thin so I don’t think anyone expects me to randomly be super muscular you know?
MJ: I guess the baggy clothes really add to the whole “skinny nerd who can’t protect himself and has a baby face” thing.
*He laughs a little*
Peter: Exactly, that’s exactly what I’m going for, although I’ll admit it’s sometimes hard to resist taking off my shirt and showing off my muscles.
*He says, as he flexes one bicep to MJ and winks at her*
MJ: you do have a baby face tho. You look like a puppy despite your muscles. *she playfully slaps his abs (this is all platonic😌 MJ is a lesbian queen and Peter is a Bi-Con, or as he likes to call himself, Bi-der man)*
*Peter blushes as she slaps his abs*
Peter: Hey, you can’t just go and do that to me in class! What if someone saw?
*he says in a joking voice, smiling brightly because he’s glad that she’s actually paying attention to him and not Flash, whose probably gloating over having successfully convinced people that Peter isn’t working at Stark Industries*
MJ: it’s not like anyone is paying attention to you or me. Also you know that’s not the worst thing anyone has done to you. Remember when Cap dropped that Jetway bridge on you?
*He laughs as he remembers*
Peter: *laughs* That’s true, but that was during a fight. This was just you smacking my abs for no reason, in the middle of class. Although it’d be kinda hilarious if Flash walks over and sees you just playing with my muscles like I’m a stuffed animal or something.
MJ: the worst part is he would try to start a rumor about us dating… even though I’m lesbian and you’re Bi.
*He nods, laughing slightly as they talk about the inevitable of Flash trying to stir something up*
Peter: I mean, we could probably make him look pretty stupid if we came up with an awful rumor of our own and started spreading it, right? Like we could just come up with some totally unbelievable story and act like it’s true, maybe even get some other people to join in too.
MJ: we could start a rumor about him having a major crush on spider man. it wouldn’t be too far fetched since everyone already knows he’s a mega fan and it’s not that crazy to believe that he would have a crush on Spider man, well… you since you’re actually spider man but no one really knows that other than me and Ned.
*He laughs at the thought of Flash trying to deny that*
Peter: Yeah, I think the idea of him being a huge Spider-man fan is convincing enough, but you’re right, the fact that he has a crush on him adds a certain level of realism to it. Maybe we could say that he has a spider fetish and that’s why he’s so obsessed with him?
MJ: *muffles her laughter with her hand* spider fetish🤣
*Peter smirks a little at her reaction*
Peter: I’m serious, we could really mess with him that way. He’s probably pretty sensitive about people making fun of him for being obsessed with Spider-man, so if we tell people that he’s actually *in love* with him, I’m pretty sure that would make him lose his mind.
*he says with a slight sadistic smile*
MJ: he deserves it for bullying you for being trans and calling you “Penis Parker”.
Peter: *snaps his fingers* I can’t believe I almost forgot about that nickname, that’s like the worst one he’s given me out of all of them. But I don’t think he could come up with anything more humiliating than having people call him a spider lover, and if this plan works out, he’ll be dealing with this rumor for the rest of this school year.
*the bell rings and class ends. MJ, Ned (who wasn’t paying attention this whole conversation), and Peter stand up to leave but Mr Harrington, the history teacher (or in this case the substitute for Miss Honey), grabs Peter by the upper back and pulls him back to his seat. He has a look of concern as he talks to him*
Mr Harrington: Mr Parker, I’m going to have to ask you to stay behind for a moment, I’d like to have a few words with you.
*Peter sighs, seeming worried, but nods. MJ and Ned both give him concerned looks as they exit the room, but he waves them off and they exit the room as well. Mr Harrington waits for the class to be completely empty before closing the door and walking over to Peter*
Mr Harrington: look kid… I know you’re experiencing a lot of grief with your parents and uncle dying but this lie about your internship needs to stop.
*Peter looks surprised by this, blinking a few times to process what he said before shaking his head*
Peter: Wait, what? No, that’s not what’s going on. I wasn’t lying about the internship. It’s real, I actually work at Stark Industries, I’m not making anything up.
Mr Harrington: *he puts his hand up and shushes him* I don’t want to hear it Mr Parker. No more lies. And while we’re on the field trip do not mention your supposed “internship”.
*Peter sighs but stays quiet, he’s not about to argue with his history teacher and it’s clear that there’s no convincing him, but he hates the fact that people still think he’s lying about this. He just wants it to be believed that he actually got this job based on his own merit. But in the end, there’s nothing he can do, so he nods and says*
Peter: Okay… I won’t mention my internship at all when we’re on the field trip then.
