It was a Wednesday night and to relive your college days, you had headed over to your friends house for a few cocktails. But, due to the your medication, the cocktails hit harder than they ever did back then. Honestly, you hadn’t expected it but it didn’t bother you and as you walked home, feigning sobriety, all you could think about was returning back to your nice warm bed where Frank was hopefully waiting for you.
He knew you were at a friend’s and you hadn’t specified whether you were staying over or not - because even you didn’t know - but you were excited to be back in his arms. He had been on your mind all night even if you hadn’t really said anything. Instead, you’d rambled about various topics including why you thought legs were an inconvenient part of your body.
You were giggling to yourself as you texted your friends that you were back in your apartment building safely, remembering all the silly things the three of you had spoken about. A small grin spread across your lips as you focused on the elevator numbers to press on the button for your floor. You leant against the elevator, slipping your earphones back in their case and fishing your keys out of your coat pocket.
The elevator was making your stomach turn but that was always the case when it came to the big metal boxes. Once it stopped on your floor, you slipped out and headed towards your apartment door. You shoved the key in, managing to get it in first try - surprisingly - before you slipped into the apartment. You dumped your keys on the side and latched the door before kicking your shoes off by the mat.
A soft hum of contentment passed your lips as you stripped your coat off your figure and placed it onto the coat hook. A grin spread across your face at the thought of seeing Frank again and you shed your jacket, discarding it on the table as you walked over to the bedroom.
When you pushed the door open, Frank was sat reading. Only the beside light lighting the room, a dope-y smile spread across your face as he turned to look up at you. The smile that spread across his face made your heart soar and you pulled your t-shirt over your head.
“Have fun?” He asked, a teasing lilt to his tone. You hummed out in agreement, unbuttoning your jeans and letting them drop to the floor. You stepped out of them before crawling onto the bed. Frank placed his book down as you crawled over before plonking yourself in his lap. You smiled at him, the grin only widening.
“I missed you,” You whispered softly as if it was a sacred promise, leaning close to him. He chuckled and he wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you against him. You snuggled up to his chest, humming contendly, “Mhm, missed this.” He pressed a kiss to your hair.
“Missed you too, baby,” He muttered. You couldn’t help the grin that split across your lips and you pulled your head up so you could pepper kisses across his face.
“Mhm, my perfect man,” You mumbled as you moved your kisses from his lips, his cheeks and his nose up to his eyes and forehead. Your hands cupping his cheek as you showered him with affection, “Nobody I would want more.” He chuckled softly at that and squeezed your hips affectionately. You rested your forehead against his.
"You wanna sleep?” He asked softly. You nodded your head, letting your eyes fall close. The presence of him was just so calming and as much as you loved your friends, his presence was really what you craved. That smell of leather, home-cooked meals and raspberry lip balm that you got him to use. It was perfect. He was perfect.
“Could stay like this forever,” You said, quietly. Your arms wrapped around his torso, snuggling up to him. You pressed your bodies together, giving him no choice in the matter and he chuckled softly. He loved how affectionate you could be at times even if he could never really understand it. He never believed he deserved it.
“Want some water before you sleep?” He asked curiously. You nodded, giving him a reprieve and rolling off him onto your back. You arched your spine, fiddling with your bra straps before discarding it on the side. Frank slipped off the bed and pulled his t-shirt off, chucking it to you. A grin spread across your face and you picked it up off the sheets, pulling it over your head.
“I love you,” You called as you curled up on top of the sheets. Your heart was bursting with admiration, you loved him so much. There weren't words to explain how much you adored the man that you had come to call your boyfriend. You weren’t really sure where you would be without him but you knew that you wouldn’t be this put together. He completed you. A missing half that you had managed to find.
After a few minutes, Frank returned with a glass of water and you moved to sit up, leaning against the headboard as he offered it to you. You smiled and took a long sip once you had it in your palms.
“I’m so lucky to have you, baby. I don’t know where I’d be without you. I-” You paused, placing the glass down to drag Frank into your lap. He was usually an immovable object but he was willing to be moved by you and only you. He let himself fall into your lap and you wrapped your arms around his neck, “My baby, my man, the only man I ever want. If you proposed to me right now, I’d say yes. Don’t want anyone else, ever, in my entire life. You’re it for me, Frankie. Honest to God.” You were usually a very open person but the alcohol loosened your tongue, allowing you to say things that you had always been a little too worried to. Frank tightened up slightly in your hold and that sobered you up in an instant.
“Frankie?” You mumbled softly. He lifted his head and you could see the raw emotion in his eyes. The love, adoration, confusion but mostly pure unadulterated love. It brought you right back into your happy, drunken state.
“You’d say yes if I proposed right now? No ring?” He teased. You nodded solemnly.
“Don’t care how you do it as long as I can call you my husband for the rest of my goddamn life,” You mumbled, a smile spreading across your lips. He chuckled and moved out of your lap, pulling you on top of him. You curled up on his hard chest, resting your head onto his chest, listening to the soft thump-thump-thump of his heart.
“Don’t give me ideas,” He mumbled. You chuckled and let out a contented sigh. The thump of his heart seemed to lull you into a sleep without even realising. His fingers ran across the skin of your arm as you fell asleep then and there, “I love you, baby,” He whispered softly. You smiled in your sleep, as if you’d heard him from your dream world.
