The Avengers saved the City.
After a long fight, the Avengers managed to beat Loki and the chintauri, unknown to them was that a small boy was walking around not that far away from them in search of his relatives while clinging onto an iron man plush that he saw lying on the ground.
As they saw the boy walking out the streets they were shocked, they thought that everyone was evacuated.
The boy turned facing them with his big brown doe-like eyes that were puffy from all the crying and slowly started walking towards them while holding onto the plush more tightly, Steve walked towards the boy and met him half on the way before kneeling "Hey son. What are you doing here all alone?" He asked in a gentle but also worried tone. The boy looked up at Steve and looked like he was about to cry again as he answered "I-I lost my aunt and Uncle. I-I hid in a building b-because I was scared." He looked a bit at the other Avengers before looking up at Steve again "C-Can you help me to find them p-please sir?" The boy sounded like he would break down in tears at any answer that isn't a yes but they still had to arrest Loki.
The Cap thought for a short moment, watching the boy getting more nervous at the silence "We still have to arrest the one who caused all this. But we can help you after that okay?" He suggested, the boy nodded as answer and hugged the other man with his plush still in his hand as he whimpered a quiet "T-Thank you, sir." Steve patted the boy's back before getting up again but as soon they went up to the others the boy walked towards the Hulk, they all swore they had a heart attack at that moment except Thor who gleamed at the child's 'bravery' and Hulk himself who was rather confused by the boy's actions.
The child looked at Hulk in worry for a moment "Are you okay? Auntie says that it's not good if you're green." He said and Hulk grunted in response before saying "Hulk is fine. Tiny human no worry." The boy nodded understanding "Okay then Mister." the rest sighed in relief and they went to to tower, Clint picked up the boy seeing that he couldn't keep up and carried him.
Tony looked over to the child a few times "Hey, what's your name Kiddo?" The boy perked up almost immediately "My name is Peter Parker." He said before he seemed to remember something "You saved me at the Expo!" He exclaimed to the others in confusion. But Tony just groaned and rubbed the bridge of his nose "Don't tell me you are the kid who tried to stop the one drone with his Iron Man Toy repulsor" Peter stayed quiet at that before Tony started talking again "Kid?-" "Sorry but Uncle Ben told me not to lie and you just said not to say it." Peter immediately interrupted with a sheepish grin.
Clint chuckles a bit at the response and Tony groans quietly while they go into the tower and get to the elevator while Hulk just jumps to the top before entering it. Peter looked over to Tony "Thank you for saving me back then Mister Iron Man Dr Stark sir." He said with a bright grin Tony was choking on the air hearing this child saying all his titles at once. The others noticed immediately how it seemed like Peter had finally calmed.
The elevator finally arrived after a short moment and the doors opened showing Hulk standing there with the unconscious Loki in the room, Clint let the Boy down again who ran towards Hulk smiling and seemingly out of breath already after such a short distance. Peter doesn't seem to care and grins at Hulk happy before seeing Loki and looking confused at him "Is he the meanie?" He asked while pointing at him "Yes, tiny mortal. That is Loki." Thor spoke up and Peter nodded understanding but frowned at the cuts in the God's face so without hesitation he took off the small Iron Man-themed backpack he was wearing and took out some animal-themed bandages. He crouches down to the Unconscious Loki and puts them on his face.
They just watched until Peter had finished and turned to the others "Are you hurt too?" He asked while holding up the remaining bandages, the Avengers shook their heads in response and Natasha piped up "I think Tony would like a cat bandage" Peter's face lit up as he heard that and immediately searched for a cat bandage.
As he rummaged through his backpack a small piece of Plastic fell out of it which Thor picked up "What is this strange device?" He asked while holding it up to show to the others "That's an inhaler." Steve answered and took it from the god to give it back to Peter "Some people on earth have a sickness that can make it hard for them to breathe especially when they move fast and that helps them breathe properly." Clint explained the obvious question Thor was about to ask while he watched Peter taking back the inhaler.
The God of Thunder looked pitiful at the child who finally pulled out a bandage with little cats plastered all over it in different colours and walked over to Tony smiling who knelt reluctantly so Peter could put the bandage on him which he did swiftly. They noticed how Loki seemed to regain consciousness and circled him while drawing their weapons and putting Peter behind them so he would stay safe.
Loki looked up at them seemingly trying to find something to say but just smirked a bit after a moment "I would like now that drink." He said with a smile on his lips Tony rolled his arms and Steve pulled him up by his arm. Clint was a bit too eager to put the cuffs on Loki's wrist, Peter watched the entire time in silence while staying close to Hulk and hiding behind his leg a bit.
The Avengers fastly wanted to get this over with but Loki's gaze saw Peter before they managed to push him towards the elevator "Who is that child? Are you already getting a new career as Babysitter's?" He taunted the adults but also saw the child getting a bit out of hiding and walking towards him with a pout.
They could only watch as the child glared up at the God inraged which looked like a kitten trying to look threatening "You are why my Aunt and Uncle are missing and they are fixing it so stop being mean for no reason!" He shouted and Loki raised an eyebrow at that "Why aren't you worried about your parents instead?" He asked slightly teasing. Peter's face darkened at that and he looked down at the ground "They are not there anymore. Mr. Pirate said that they passed in a plane crash..." Loki visibly flinched at that information but only slightly "My... Apologies, Young mortal." He now looked more closely at the boy, he seemed young maybe around 5 or 6 years, and knowing at that age already how it feels to lose someone was gut-wrenching. Loki looked away from the child as the Avengers dragged him into the elevator "Hulk you need to take the stairs the elevator can't carry you" Tony said as they got in one by one "Hulk don't like stairs" He got as a response.
Tony sighs "I understand that big guy but this elevator physically can't carry you and you don't want Peter to get hurt on the way down do you?" Hulk looked down at Peter and grunted in defeat "Fine, Hulk takes stairs." He finally agreed and went to take the stairs down while Tony guided Peter into the elevator with the rest.
With Peter clinging onto Tony's hand Tony was surprised that it wasn't as uncomfortable as it was with other people holding his hand. It felt to Tony like he could protect this child just by holding his hand and it was very odd to him. He was Tony Stark after all, he took down Alien's not even an hour ago, he's a genius for god's sake but this was something he couldn't understand at all, how the boy managed to affect him like that in such a short time and so much more.
But Loki also stayed uncharacteristically quiet ever since the boy told him that his parents died, just to make sure Natasha made sure to stand physically between Loki and Peter just in case their least favorite God would try something. It took a minute until they arrived at the entrance area and they stepped out of it one by one with Thor and Steve guarding Loki, a group of shield agents were already waiting with Fury there. They walked over together and handed Loki over to the agents, Peter looked up at Fury for a moment and tugged on his trenchcoat to gain the man's attention "Hello Mr Pirate." The boy said with a small smile, realizing what Peter just said the four of the Avengers looked judging at Fury who ignored them and looked down at Peter "Hello Peter." Fury replied almost immediately followed by "What are you doing here? You should be with your relatives." Peter played with the hem of his shirt a bit and looked away while mumbling "I lost them and went hiding because I was really scared." The older man nodded understanding "I see. Don't worry we will find your Aunt and Uncle for you." he reassured the small boy.
Peter nodded smiling, Tony actually already tasked Jarvis to find Peter's guardians as soon as the boy went to Fury and had bad news but didn't knew how to tell the kid. He suppressed any sighs of something negative happening and waved Fury over who left Peter to walk to Tony "What is it Stark?" Fury asked defensively "I found the kids Aunt and Uncle but..." Tony trailed off with his gaze to Peter who talked to Natasha and Clint smiling "They seemingly got killed during the evacuation." He finished and shows Fury the report that says that May got killed by a chintauri and Ben got squished to death by a part of a building falling ontop of him.
Fury's facial expression twitched a bit as he read the report and he looked now over to Peter as well "He doesn't has other family." Fury stated "And I don't want him to end up in the system." he finished his thought before looking back at Tony who nodded agreeing "Yeah it isn't the best. But where else should he go? And how are we gonna tell him?" He said to the other man. Fury shook his head slightly "I can tell him but about where he should stay... Most of my agents have no families like that for obvious reasons or I don't trust them enough to watch him. Two of your team are unable but the rest might be." Fury contemplated while holding thoughtfully his chin "We could maybe make it out that he's a distant relative of capsicle" Tony suggested while holding his arms crossed and Fury nodded agreeing, saying "He's the best choice of all of you. Full offense Stark" Tony rolled his eyes "I'll go warn gramps you tell the kid" Tony said before walking off, leaving the man with no other choice than doing his bitting.
With a sigh he walks towards the kid "Hey Peter, we have some news for you." He said while kneeling down to the kids hight. Peter turned to Fury smiling "Yes Mister Pirate?" He asked with a bright smile on his face, it took even Fury a short moment of hesitation before he said "I'm sorry to inform you but your Aunt and Uncle have passed away." it was obvious how all the happiness left his face and he looked heartbroken at Fury who felt pity for the small child but didn't show it of course "I'm sorry Peter." He said quietly to the child who had already started to cry hard.
Natasha knelt to Peter and hugged him gently while rubbing his back to comfort him, Fury took a small breath and got up before looking at what Tony was doing he seemed to be still talking with Steve who was nodding along with what Tony was saying and a good sign.
Peter was still crying and was falling into an asthma attack from barely breath from the crying in the first place, the two agents noticed that immediately and Clint fished Peter's inhaler out of the boys backpack giving it to him as soon he had it in his hand.
The kid took the inhaler and took a few puffs which took a minute and calmed down his breathing again. They were releaved that the child was semi-alright now, as far as he could be after receiving such news "But you don't need to worry kid." Tony said while walking up to them smiling with Steve right beside him "I let my AI make some research and found out that you are a distant relative from cap here form your father's side" He added while ruffling the kids hair "R-Really?" He sniffles and looks up at them hopefully, the both men just nodded and Peter burst out in tears again running up to Steve hugging his leg, thanking them a thousand times.
Steve smiled a bit and pics up Peter hugging him immediately rubbing the boy's back as Tony clapped his hands "Well I'm hungry. Let's get some Shawama." He exclaimed grinning.
