Rogue came down the stairs, it was late in the morning. She’d been up all night thinking about Remy. She’d barely gotten any sleep.

Remy was truly the guy of her dreams, he had everything he wanted in a man. He was especially charming, he’d managed to first catch her eye when they were on different sides. Which was another thing. Most of the X-Men seemed apprehensive to welcome Remy in as Rogue’s partner. It was understandable, he’d been working for Magneto, but it had been almost a year and Remy had shown her that he’d truly changed. Scott especially shared his dislike of him, as Scott did with most things. But she knew Scott, he’d warm up to Remy eventually. Her brother, Kurt, also seemed nervous to be around Remy. But Kitty and Jean seemed supportive enough, which she appreciated.

The sounds of the younger X-Men kids sharing breakfast followed her as she walked down the stairs. She peaked her head into the dining hall but didn’t see anyone worth talking to. She rarely talked to any of the younger kids, except for when Amara asked for fashion advice. Rogue then walked out into the living room. Where she found Scott cuddled up with Kurt whilst talking to Jean. The redhead had her knees pressed to his chest as she sat in one of the armchairs. Rogue sat down in the remaining chair.

“Guten Morgen, Rogue.” Kurt greeted drowsily.

“G’morning y’all.” She smiled

Jean and Scott each greeted her with a nod.

“How’d your date go, Schwester?” Kurt asked, shifting in his place.

“Good, Rem’s the most amazing guy.” She giggled

“What’d he do for du?”

“He bought me flowers an’ took me dancin’.” Rogue tucked loose hair behind her ear, “Really, he’s great. The professor said I could bring him over for dinner soon.”

Scott raised an eyebrow, “What-?”

She gave him a glare, “He’s not that bad, Scott. Even Charles thinks he’s redeemable”

The brunette snorted, “The professor thinks everyone is redeemable.”

Kurt elbowed him, “Scott, shut up. Give him a chance.”

Ah, yes, Scott, always the stubborn one. He didn’t say anything else, continuing to keep his neutral expression.

“Anyways,” Rogue smiled, “We haven’t made anything official yet, but I think we will soon.”

Kurt giggled, “Gut, you two have been eyeing each other since you met.”

At least Kurt was being supportive, that was nice.

Jean was oddly quiet. She was pretty talkative in the mornings, she was talkative in general. Not that Rogue minded, as far as she was concerned Jean was nice to talk to. She was kind, and was basically the X-Men’s golden child. But Jean was always humble about that. Maybe that’s why Rogue didn’t despise her.

Rogue caught Jean looking at her, the redhead blushed subtly as they made eye contact. Rogue would have to admit, Jean was beautiful. Her silky hair over her shoulder. Jean was well built from years of soccer and training. If Rogue had to describe her type in women, Jean would be a great example.

But she was (sort of) with Remy. And she’d worked so hard to get to where she was. Rogue wasn’t even sure she liked Jean like that. But, even without being a telepath, Rogue could tell Jean liked her. It was flattering, really.

Before she could get another word out, Kitty walked through the entryway. She was followed by Colossus. Piotr had been hanging around the X-Men lately, thanks to Kitty. Turns out, he was a big softy, especially for Kitty. Which was cute, and was definitely healthier than Kitty’s relationship with Lance. Though, most of the X-Men weren’t even sure they were dating.

“Hey guys.” She smiled, sitting cross legged on the floor, Piotr joined her.

“Hey Kitty,” Rogue greeted, “How’s it goin’?”

She turned to Piotr, ginning widely, “Well, we talked to the professor and he’s letting Piotr join the X-Men!” Kitty swung her arms around him.

“Glückwünsche!” Kurt said

“Nice.” Rogue smiled

Scott looked relatively ok with the news, he didn’t say anything snarky, thankfully.

“Cпасибо.” Piotr smiled, “It’s good to feel welcomed.”

Kitty released her grip on him, turning her attention to Rogue.

“So? How’d your date go?”

“Good, he’s real’ nice.”

“Yesss, see, I told you he’d fall for you!”

Rogue just nodded, looking at Jean. She seemed out of it, deep in thought.

“Jean? Ya alright?” She asked

“Oh! Sorry, just thinking.” She paused for a moment, “Actually, Rogue, could we talk for a minute?”

Rogue shrugged, getting out of her seat, “Sure.”

She followed Jean into the next room, the library, as the others continued chatting.

Jean sighed, grabbing Rogue’s gloved hands.

“Listen, Rogue..”

“What is it?” She was more than a little shocked that Jean was being so blunt at that moment.

Their faces were inches apart. Rogue felt Jean’s hot breath on her lips. Rogue brushed her lips against Jean’s, but pulled away when she realized what she was doing, what she could do.

“I can stop it.” Jean mumbled, “Your power.”

Rogue placed her hands on the redhead’s cheeks, “You’re amazin’..”

Jean blushed, connecting their lips. The kiss was soft, almost sweet. Rogue could barely process what they were doing.

But, she could tell that there was no spark. Her heart didn’t leap when they kissed. She felt indifferent to it. It was cruel, doing this to Jean. But the feeling of skin-to-skin contact was reliving. She didn’t have to worry about hurting Jean.

Jean pulled away after a moment, looking anywhere but Rogue. The brunette pulled her hands from Jean’s face. She grabbed the redhead’s hand instead.

“I’m sorry, Jean.”

She shook her head, “No, no. I understand.”

It was clear she was upset, nothing could hide that. Rogue felt guilty, kissing her, then ditching her.

“Jean, listen, I-... you’re beautiful. But you know my hearts’ with Remy.”

“I know,” Jean shook her head again, she clearly felt stupid.

“But..” Rogue closed her eyes, grabbing Jean back by her waist, “No one has to know..?”

Jean nodded, “No one, yea..”

And Rouge kissed her again.
