"Babe, I'm just asking you to think about it." Bucky sidled up behind you and wrapped his arms around your waist. Rinsing another dish, you rolled your eyes and turned your head to look at him. He'd placed his chin on your shoulder, his beautiful blue eyes shining imploringly.
"We already have the one cat, Bucky." You pursed your lips and looked at him pointedly before turning back towards the sink.
"And you love Alpine." He said, pressing a kiss to your shoulder.
"She's grown on me, but that doesn't mean I want another cat."
"Just consider it?" He nibbled lightly on your ear. Sighing, you braced your hands on the edge of the sink and closed your eyes.
"You're not going to seduce me into saying yes." You instinctively tilted your head giving him more space. Bucky smiled into the crook of your neck.
"Maybe I'm just really turned on by my best girl, did that ever occur to you?" He breathed against your ear, squeezing your waist for emphasis. You smiled warmly and leaned into him.
Until you saw it.
With a screech you jumped inhumanely high and moved to hide behind him. Bucky's old instincts kicked in and he tensed like a live wire. Somehow, he'd acquired a kitchen knife, and was silently scanning the perimeter of the kitchen.
"Do you see it?" You whispered peaking over his shoulder.
"I don't see anything." He narrowed his eyes and glanced at you quickly. "Doll, what did you,"
"Oooh, Bucky! There!" You squealed, jumping on his back, doing your best to put space between you and whatever it was you'd seen.
"What? I don't see anything!" He practically shouted to be heard over your panic as you were still trying to climb him like a tree.
"There!" You waived a hand emphatically at the wall behind the sink. He made a soft 'oof' sound when you accidentally cuffed him in the ear with your elbow and followed your flapping hand with narrowed eyes.
And then he saw it.
"A cockroach?" He stared at it in disbelief. Then it skittered up the wall and you shrieked again, burying your face in his hair and to your great embarrassment, whimpered. That was enough to push him into action. With you still wrapped around him like a territorial koala, Bucky swiftly grabbed a paper towel and smooshed the offending creature and threw it in the trash can.
"Is it gone?" You raised your head tentatively and looked down at your boyfriend. He looked up at you and his eyes softened.
"Yeah. It's gone." You sighed and started to climb down only to be caught around the waist and swept into Bucky's arms.
"Buck," He cut you off with a firm kiss to your forehead.
"Oh, I'm going to be teasing you ruthlessly tomorrow, but tonight," He jostled you in his arms playfully. "My best girl needs movies and cuddles." You raised a brow and opened your mouth to protest, but he gave you a very convincing scowl. "That's an order." You shivered and your expression turned coy.
"Well then," You wrapped your arms around his neck. "Yes sir."
