"Wakanda 2.5 Million years ago."
A portal opened up, and an advanced-looking ship emerged above a small country that falsely claimed to produce and sell textiles but would eventually become the most advanced civilization on planet Earth. Thanks to the vibranium meteorite that was due to land in a few hours.
"Are you prepared?" a voice said; this was the captain of the ship and its sole authority. His word was law.
"Yes, my Lord. The timebreakers are ready. I have the technology to make the necessary adjustments," an AI voice responded.
"Good. Then let's not waste time," he said, observing the meteorite in view. 'Let's see how you survive and help Barnes and Rogers without your precious vibranium. If you are so worthy,' the captain thought and smiled as he began to plot.
The meteorite landed, and the Timebreaker ship made its move. It unleashed black dust, causing all nearby people to fall asleep, and landed. The captain walked out in a giant Iron Man suit, large enough to pick up the meteorite, emerging from the giant ship.
"Let's begin," the captain said as he used the giant suit of armor to grab the meteorite and bring it into the ship. A few hours passed, and both the Iron Man suit and the vibranium were secured.
"My Lord, the vibranium has been secured. Shall we proceed with the plan?"
"Yes," the captain said as he took off his mask to reveal a face all too familiar – Tony Stark. This wasn't just any Tony Stark, though.
"Steve Rogers failed the timeline. Wakanda's selfishness was the reason I wasn't prepared for Thanos. The Avengers ruined everything. It was a horrible investment. I did better with people I never fought with on Planet Titan than Steve Rogers did with powerhouses like Thor, Maximoff, and the Wakandan Army, who were more useless than the United States Military. And that's saying something. Let's not forget Steve Rogers had a team he worked with and knew their abilities inside and out, like they were Peggy Carter herself," Tony said, recalling everything.
Flashback:
The Time Heist went as planned. They had gotten the stone and brought everyone back. Hulk snapped, but then tragedy struck. A sight Tony didn't want to see appeared. Someone had betrayed them. The Sanctuary II. The next thing Tony knew, the entire Avengers compound was destroyed.
Tony, Thor, and Rogers were the ones awake and decided to confront Thanos. So, he walked with them to Thanos. He saw Thanos sitting on a rock.
"You could not live with your own failure. And where did that bring you? Back to me. I thought by eliminating half of life, the other half would thrive. But you’ve shown me that’s impossible. And as long as there are those that remember what was, there will always be those that are unable to accept what can be. They will resist," Tony heard Thanos say.
Tony decided to respond. "Yep. We're all kinds of stubborn."
"I'm thankful. Because now, I know what I must do." [stands up] "I will shred this universe down to its last atom. And then– With the stones you've collected for me, create a new one. Teeming with life, but knows not what it has lost but only what it has been given. A grateful universe," Thanos said as he put on his helmet.
Then Rogers said the most stupid thing. "Born out of blood." And all Tony could think was 'do you think he cares? This is Thanos, the man that killed Peter Parker, the one that commits mass genocide, and you think Thanos cares. God, he was surrounded by idiots. No wonder he lost.'
They fought. The revived dead Avengers returned, as well as those who were out of commission. Eventually, Tony knew it was time when Doctor Strange signaled 1 to him. He knew what he had to do, and for Peter, Pepper, and most of Morgan, he would give his life. He dashed at Thanos to find a green glow around him.
"Foolish wizard, you thought you could use him as a pawn to save the universe. You were really arrogant to think the future is set in stone, that you, a mere human by wizard, would be able to dictate time. Like you, I also used the gauntlet to see why you gave me the Time Stone. My future self sent me his memories. We played you and your foolish arrogance. You were too stupid to see the obvious," Thanos said as he moved his hand.
Tony was confused, but the answer was simple. Thanos then turned to Tony. "Like my future self, I respect you. You will live in this new world," Thanos said as he snapped, and everything was gone.
Tony found himself waking up, remembering nothing. A few years passed. Tony heard a voice; it was Friday. Tony had ordered her to tell him everything before Thanos snapped, removed his memories, and destroyed everything. Tony did have his phase. His phase of depression. Pepper, Morgan, and Peter were gone, razed to the ground atom by atom by Thanos. Tony knew he couldn't fight Thanos, so he did the next best thing. He reverse-engineered the Pym Particles and decided he would fix the world by correcting the mistakes that led up to the events.
The Avengers forming was one of them. To Tony, he thought that the Avengers should stay an idea, not a team. Tony knew he spoiled them, and not just that, they were entitled assholes who cried more when something didn't go their way. He admitted Ultron was 40% him, 50% Wanda. Not just with her being the catalyst that made him restart the project, but she actively helped Ultron make the weapon needed to destroy her failed state, Sokovia. Also, she helped divert the Avengers so that they couldn't stop Ultron. Finally, the remaining 10% would be Bruce. If Bruce wanted to, he could have easily denied, and what would Tony do to the Hulk? It was Bruce's weakness that allowed Ultron to walk.
But the biggest thing that needed to change was Wakanda. Wakanda was nothing but arrogant, egotistical assholes who helped parent murderers. Tony hated them with a passion. Tony knew this was wrong, hating a country based on their king's actions, but he was the son of a loving mother. How could he not hate the country that protected her killers? Tony would never forget that.
But moving on from that and putting his hate aside, logically, Wakanda was one of the main reasons they failed. Their selfishness with vibranium was the reason Earth as a whole was not advanced enough to fight back, and them using stupid weapons rather than making better guns with their advanced technology was also another reason. Let's not forget their tactics were so old; you could tell they were a weak country who never had war. Because when they saw War Machine was the only effective member taking out the invading Chitauri because he was air support, did they A) authorize an airstrike or B) continue charging and following stupid Rogers orders? The answer was B, and they nearly died to cannon fodder that a less advanced Iron Man suit and a smaller team handled better in 2012. Tony was embarrassed
watching the footage from Rhodey's machine. It was lucky for them Thor showed up and wiped out Thanos's cannon fodder that he called a force.
Tony decided if they couldn't use vibranium properly, then they shouldn't have it. So, he decided to take it from a past Wakanda before they even could comprehend what vibranium was. He would give it to his own counterpart by leaving it on his private island and then messaging his past version to go and find it. He also decided to put some countermeasures in case that version of Wakanda, who would also have vibranium because Tony taking vibranium from the past Wakanda won't affect timelines already set, would oppose or try to steal it. How that he will not disclose, just in case Wakanda is having Wanda go through his head as he thinks this because hey, if Tony can break time, then his capture is also a possibility. Thanos had humbled Tony, showing him that even the powerful can fall, and Tony needed to make sure Morgan, Pepper, and Peter were safe, at least in a few timelines.
Flashback Ends:
"Sir, we have arrived at your desired year. Shall we drop the vibranium meteorite on Stark Private Island and have the countermeasure you prepared for Wakanda, Hydra, Shield, the Avengers, and worlds military prepared?" the voice said.
"Yes. Make sure that is done. Make sure to monitor this timeline; we might have to kill some pests if they try to take this," Tony said as Friday nodded. They hovered above Stark Island, and hatches opened up, dropping the vibranium meteorite on the Stark Private Island.
"And the countermeasures, sir?" Friday said as Tony smiled.
"Activate," he ordered.
"Activated, Sir. All the necessary measures are ready," Friday said as Tony smirked.
"Send the message to my counterpart in this timeline," Tony said as Friday sent the message, and he was satisfied with the result. If Wakanda, the Avengers, and everyone on Earth needed to be trampled on so that his daughter could survive, which is a more noble goal than Pietro and Wanda Maximoff trampling over everyone to get revenge on him or how Steve Rogers trampled over everyone to save Barnes, then so be it. He would be as selfish as Steve Rogers and Wanda Maximoff were. After all, being selfish always got results for them.
"Time to head back. I will check to see what my other versions of the universe are up to and maybe see if they need help. The Timebreakers will make sure that the multiverse gravitates to a happy ending for Tony Stark and his countless different families," Tony said as he relaxed. He knew, like Rogers, in order to get his happy ending, he had to sacrifice people like Rogers did in Civil War. And after Morgan, Pepper, and Peter's death, he was all so willing to do so.
The End.
Author's Note:
So, I hope you liked this fanfic. It was a bit dark, and the reason is I was inspired by Dragon Ball Xenoverse and Naruto Storm Connections. So, the Timebreakers is a group Tony has created and will appear in many of my fics from now on.
Leave a review and kudos if you enjoyed, and to that one troll, I'm going to be the bigger man and delete your response.
