We’re going to save the kid! (Oh wait, he’s right here.)
In the middle of the spiders punishment, he passed out. The guards finally left him alone. When he came to, he was sweaty and his skin was red. Паук wasn’t angry, just tired. He knew punishment was needed to be a better soldier.
His handler entered the room, and thats when Паук realized he was on the ceiling. His body adjusted so quickly he never really knew when he was upside down. He quickly jumped to the floor and waited for instructions.
“You learned your lesson, correct?”
“Yes, sir.”
“Good. We have another mission for you. You’ll be going back to the avengers, but we want you to act as if you escaped. A double agent.” The man explained. “You’ll be under very deep cover. There’s no room for mistakes. You will tell them we have a dangerous weapon in Germany, and you will lead them right into our clutches. You mess up, and we will kill you. Do you understand?”
”Да сэр.”
“Хорошо, солдат. You leave tonight.” He turned and left the room.
Паук buzzed with excitement, realizing how close he was to finally taking down the avengers. He crawled back on to the ceiling to get some much needed rest.
Tony was stumped. He was trying to find information on the kid, anything, but there was nothing. As far as he knew this was the only child HYDRA kidnapped. Maybe he should ask Nat for help, considering she’s a spy.
He was sitting in his lab, scrolling through all information they had on HYDRA when Pepper walked in.
“Hey. I heard about what happened.”
“Yeah, it’s been… a lot. We’re planning to storm the base by the end of the week, but I can’t stop thinking about him, trapped in there.” His voice cracked. “I can’t stop thinking about them hurting him.”
“Oh Tony..” Pepper put her arms around him. “He’ll be okay. It’s just a few more days.”
Tony leaned into the hug. All he could do was hope for the best.
The next morning went off as usual. Clint was cooking breakfast, which meant everyone was waiting around like starving dogs. The aroma of eggs and bacon quickly spread through the air.
“Are you done yet Clint?” Natasha complained.
”Yeah, I’m hungry!” Steve chimed in.
”I’m almost done! You guys are worse than my kids…”
Giving up, Natasha returned to her spot on the couch. Steve sat down at the table next to Bucky. Their hands quickly intertwined. Soon enough, Tony entered the room.
“Clint, you really don’t have to cook for us.”
“Tony, it’s really okay. I cook for my kids most mornings anyways.”
“Yeah, but your kids don’t have the appetite of a super-soldier.” Tony grumbled under his breath.
No one noticed him at first, the sudden appearance of a brown haired teenager. The kid was wearing dark blue jeans and a red hoodie. He stood near the couch, so the first person to notice him was Natasha. She jumped up and had a knife at his neck immediately.
“Who are you and how did you get in here?!” She demanded.
Everyone’s heads whipped around in confusion, wondering how a teenage boy managed to get into the top level of the avengers tower.
“You seriously don’t remember me?” The kid says with a grin.
Recognition floods into the room at his voice, that thick russian accent that they all know.
“Holy shit… you’re the kid that was here the other day.” Tony gasps.
“The one and only.”
“We don’t have any proof it’s really him.” Natasha points out.
”I think it is. Same height, same voice.”
“You still haven’t answered my question. Why are you here?” Natasha digs the knife slightly deeper into his neck, but not deep enough to cut.
“It’s… complicated.” Tears well up in Паук‘s eyes. “I didn’t go back to HYDRA after our encounter. I couldn’t go back, knowing what they told me wasn’t true. I was told you all are evil, the most dangerous people and wanted to destroy the world. Seeing the way you interact, like a… family. It changed everything.”
Паук knew some of what he was saying was true, but he didn’t know why. The avengers didn’t seem to be evil… but they had to be acting. Right?
Паук sniffled more, playing into the “helpless child” act. As far as he could tell, the avengers were buying it. The widow suddenly let him go. The avengers looked at each other, unsure of what to do next.
“Kid, follow me.” Tony said.
He led him down the long hallway. Паук looked around, unsure of what was happening. Tony opened one of the doors.
“Sit tight here. I’ll be back soon.”
The boy entered the room, and the door was closed behind him. Паук looked around, it seemed to be some sort of bedroom, but one bigger than he’d ever seen before. There was an extremely large bed, a bathroom, a desk and a large screen on the wall. Паук noted that there were no windows.
After Tony left the kid in the guest bedroom, he quickly made his way back to the rest of the team. Before he was back in the kitchen, he told Friday to activate reinforcements in the guest room.
They all sat in silence, not knowing what to say. Suddenly Natasha broke the silence.
”He could be lying.”
“I don’t know. It seemed genuine.” Clint said.
Bucky gripped Steve’s hand a little tighter. “I say we just watch him for a few days. If he tries anything, we’ll be ready. If he’s telling the truth, we can help him.”
”I agree.” Steve said.
Tony also agreed. Leaving Clint and Natasha.
“Fine. But I will be on high alert.”
“So will I.” The archer spoke.
Tony took this moment to check on the kid again. He went back to the guest room to find the boy sitting on the ceiling.
”Shit kid, how’d you get up there?”
“I climbed.” Паук shrugged.
Tony closed the door. “You enhanced?”
”Yes. I’ve had these abilities since childhood.” He explained. “It’s more comfortable on the ceiling.”
”Is it? Doesn’t the blood rush to your head and make you feel uncomfortable?” Tony asked.
”No.”
”Oh. Well we’ve come to a decision. You’ll stay in this room for a few days, and if you try anything-“
”I know, I know. I will not try anything, I promise. I’m done with HYDRA.” Паук lied, but the words felt right coming out of his mouth.
“Okay.” Tony took a breath. “Whenever you’re hungry, just tell Friday. I’m sure you’re familiar with her, considering you disabled her for half an hour.”
”Yes. It was incredibly easy.”
Tony huffed out a chuckle “See you later, kid.” He left the room.
Паук flipped back on to the ground, then sat on the bed of his cell. Well, it didn’t feel like a cell. He expected to be tortured, beat for information. The avengers were treating him… odd. Especially Tony Stark. He hasn’t even been blasted by the Iron Man suit yet! Паук laid down, eventually falling asleep, exhausted by the days events.
