That's not right
"Let's go." Peter says as he gets up from his position against the car hood.
"Go where?" Tony questions while not making any move of getting out of that chair.
Peter gets in the drivers' seat and holds his hand out for the key, "Our local magician, maybe he can get this circus in order"
"The wizard is somewhere in the mountains or something, my call didn't even go through"
"Ugh God ok fine we'll deal with that later then, get in and gimme the keys I still gotta get to work" waving his hand out of the window.
With the way Peter was acting with him, there was no way he was going to just let him get away with it. Luckily he has 7 years of Dad-Experience under his belt. Twirling the keys with his finger he walks to stand in front of the car, "Not unless you change, can't have Spider-Man driving my car"
To his surprise, Peter actually leaves the car and stomps towards the warehouse. He looks so much like Morgan doing it that he can't contain the snicker that leaves him.
After a while, Peter leaves the warehouse, suit and a black vest in hand wearing a white button up with black trousers.
It's only now that he's actually looking at the kid. Dark circles under his eyes, hollow cheekbones with a fading bruise on his forehead and hair grown out up to his shoulder that he's tied into a little ponytail.
The empty look in his eyes is downright scary to look at, like he's seen way too much of the world. It's a look Tony used to gaze into in the mirror before Pepper and Morgan, and the fact that he sees his kid wearing it, terrifies him to the very core. He mindlessly hands the keys to the younger man, who looks a little baffled at the easy defeat.
They get into their respective seats and Tony just stares at the kid trying to find an inch of the boy he used to know. Peter looks straight ahead, "Done staring? Can we move now?"
"Yeah sure", he reluctantly removes his eyes off Peter's face and focuses his attention on his phone.
You: I found him
Miss Potts: How is he?
You: I have no idea, he just snapped at me asking if Fury sent me
Miss Potts: That reminds me, those illusions in Prague, we have a little information on that. Spider-Man was involved. Apparently, it was a SHIELD mission.
You: I'll keep it in mind
Miss Potts: Where is he now?
You: With me, he's driving
Miss Potts: He's right beside you and you're texting me!?
You: Right shit alright, love ya. tell Morgan I love her
Miss Potts: <3
Locking the phone, he turns to Peter, "So where we going?"
"My work"
"You said that. I meant, where is it?"
With a sigh he replies, "The Clinton neighbourhood".
After an hour of another silent drive Peter pulls up on to the side of the street, turns down the music and turns to Tony.
"Ok so here's the plan, I go in there try to shorten my shift for as long as I can and you go to the Himalayas or whatever and convince Stephen to stop his winter yoga. Go to the sanctum and wait for me there, and we'll see why this happened."
As he turns back to grab his vest, Tony puts his hand on Peter's bicep to hold his attention.
"Kid"
The younger man shifts a little in his seat to be face to face, "Yeah?"
"How are you?"
"What?"
"How are you?"
"...I'm good"
"I know it's a little lame to ask that after this time but... it's just been so long Peter"
Peter relaxes a little in his hold, slightly revelling in the mention of his name. A small smile subconsciously creeps up his face until he's reminded of the fact that this can never last.
Tony notices the scowl and moves his hand to Peter's cheek. To his surprise, Peter actually snaps his eyes closed and flinches away from it, "I'm late". Peter shuts the car door behind him and walks down the street in the hazy sunlight of the sunset leaving a stunned Tony frozen in his place, hand still hanging where Peters' face was.
