Old feelings
Peter has no idea how describe this feeling.
Sure, he'd taken Morgan swinging before but that was at lake house amidst trees. Now she can have the true experience of swinging through a city during the sunset, well not through an entire city but good enough for now.
After a few good minutes of him watching her face light up with every jump, he decided to bring her down to Happy who's been chuckling nervously every time Morgan spotted him and waved.
Spider-Man shifted her into Happy's arms who then hugged her with all his life. He was just about to leave when Happy started talking, "Hey uh you going somewhere after this?"
"Uhh I was planning for a bar, it's far from here but it's not so bad", why did he sound so nervous, it's not like he's not old enough to drink, hell he works at one!
"Alright uhh, here's my card" He took out a business card from his wallet and handed it to Spider-Man, "I work for SI and if you need some kind of help anytime, we might be available"
"Are you giving me a card based on a 'might be available'?", it was almost impossible to miss the smug look under the mask, how was it so easy to read him under that damn mask?
"Well-" Morgan starting squirming in his arms forcing him to halt the conversation, "alright then- Call me". With that he walked away with Morgan leaving Peter with a small piece of paper and a much bigger hole in his heart.
Shoving the card in his pocket, he had Love plot a route to a dark alley and changed there and headed to another long night of work.
---
That night luckily, he turned out to share his shift with Millie. And just as luckily, she sensed that he wasn't in the greatest mood and slipped him a joint in the staff room and left him alone.
Oh how he is forever grateful for that woman.
The rest of the night went smooth, boss wasn't all that aware of what was going on because of the less amount of customers, meaning more booze for the workers, less amount of customers also meant more amount of flirting...
It was 2:14 A.M. when Peter had stumbled out of the bar after turning a guy in to the police. Peter had tried to flirt with him at first, handing him free drinks but turns out the idiot was a lightweight and caused a ruckus. So much for a free night.
Millie turned in before he had a chance to goodbye or invite her for drinks so he was walking home to the subway alone with the company of his thoughts. His mind drifted straight to the encounter a few hours ago.
Every time Peter went over to the lake house before the spell Morgan seemed shy, reserved, kept to herself and her toys. It was almost weird seeing her so bubbly with him, reminded him of himself with May and Ben. Caught up in the sweet thoughts he almost didn't hear Daredevil leaping off the roofs following the direction Peter was moving along. Almost.
Daredevils hearing always made it harder to compete with him, sometimes Spider-Man and Daredevil would end up patrolling together and DD would hear their target moving towards them before Spider-Man even sensed it. Sure, he was impressed with the hearing but it also slightly ticked him off.
After a few minutes of waiting in an alley for the fight to pass, he heard Daredevil move to a different roof and speed off leaving grumbling and groaning people on the ground. Peter took this as his sign to get out of there as fast as possible.
