The Unknown...
Chapter 2: The Unknown...
The creatures breath was hot against his skin… He wished that he wouldn’t get so close all the time…
“I will lead us to victory…” Stated Loki, clearly annoyed by the creatures lack of enthusiasm about him. “They will all kneel before me. If your force is as… formidable… As you claim it to be.”
“You question us?” Snapped the creature relentlessly, spitting in Loki’s face. “You question… Him.” He motioned towards the large floating chair of rock in the distance. “He who put that sceptre in your hand? Who gave you ancient knowledge and purpose when you were cast out and defeated?”
“I was a king” Loki interrupted, agitated. “The rightful king of Asgard. Betrayed…”
“No doubt you’ll be better on earth.” The creature spun around to look into the distance.
“They are a lost people. They mistake selfishness for spirit!” Loki chuckled gently. “When the sky falls… It will be every man for himself.”
“How will you rule them then?”
“Unmercifully.” He smirked slightly, clutching the sceptre in his hand as he felt a sudden surge of power.
“Your ambition is little… And full of childish need. We look beyond earth… Towards the worlds the tesseract will unveil…” He shot Loki a deathly look. “And we…” The creature quickly corrected himself, “He. Will certainly not stand for you ruining our chances at conquering the universe…”
“QUIET.” A loud, booming voice echoed across the plain. “He is ready to lead. And the Chitauri will follow.” The voice was coming from the chair. "And the humans?” He paused for a moment. “What can they do but burn.”

“The tesseract is misbehaving…”
“Is that supposed to be funny?” Replied Fury.
“No. It’s not funny at all. The energy readings are off the charts… It’s like it has a mind of it’s own… I’ve never seen anything quite like it.”
“Well why don’t you just pull the plug Selvig? You’re meant to be a physicist.”
“The tesseract is its own energy source. We turn anything off it turns it right back on again.”
“Where’s Agent Rayla?”
“She’s there… Insists on maintaining a distance…” He points at the figure lingering in the back, long auburn hair and wearing a skintight black bodysuit. “She says that she prefers to be aware of her surroundings…” He trails off, clearly uninterested in her actions.
The screen flashed brightly, several warnings coming up on the screen. The floor began to shake violently, a blue beam shooting out of the tesseract and forming a portal of some sort.
The room went silent. Everyone’s attention fixated on the creation of this portal.
All of a sudden, a huge wave of energy erupted from the portal, sending everyone toppling over. A man knelt where the energy had erupted from.
Large stature; thick, slicked back hair; leather armour; and piercing blue eyes.
He rose to his feet slowly.
The soldiers maintained their guard, holding their guns at eye level, fingers on triggers.
The man grinned slyly, his eyes squinting to get used to the light. His gaze darted across the room and fixated on the soldiers with their weaponry.
“Sir. Please put down the spear.” Shouted Fury, unaware of the damage about to be caused.
The man peered down at the weapon in his hands, before drawing his arm back and releasing a huge beam of energy towards Fury and Dr. Selvig, sending equipment flying across the room.
He threw himself in the air, landing on a soldier, puncturing his flesh with the sceptre’s blade.
The others spent no time firing the guns, bullets hurdling through the air. Only to be deflected and shot straight back towards them. The man ducked, swinging the sceptre round, and slicing the waist of another soldier wide open, causing him to fall to the ground.
When he was certain no-one was left to fight against him, he rose to his feet, dusting off his leather armour with his palm.
Rayla crawled across the floor towards him, before jumping up and attempting to knock the sceptre out of his arms.
“You have heart…” He Muttered, pushing her to the ground with one swift movement. “I could make use of you…”
“Who are you?” Rayla shouted, unphased by his attempt at creating a sense of authority.
“I am Loki. King of Asgard. And I am burdened with glorious purpose…” He grinned at seeing her confused face, before placing the tip of the sceptre on her chest.
Rayla’s eyes flashed blue as she shook violently, energy coursing through her veins.
Loki chuckled lightly and removed the sceptre, allowing her to stand up. She dropped her gun, looking lifeless, and followed Loki through the doors. She watched as he placed the sceptre upon other soldiers chests, and noticed how they all had the same reaction.
Fury picked up the tesseract and attempted to make an escape.
“Where are you going?” He asked mockingly. “You know I still need that.”
Loki grinned widely, shooting another bolt of energy towards fury, knocking him off his feet.
Loki dusted off his hands, stepping over Fury’s limp body, and snatching the tesseract off the ground.
“Now let’s move shall we?” He smirked at his army of soldiers and scientists. “Let’s take over this puny little planet.”
