It was quite the scene, team RWBY and Jaune showing up in Vacuo. Everyone went absolutely nuts, a few even fainted thinking they were seeing ghosts.
Much was discussed and many tears were shed. The plan to defeat Salem was beginning to take shape. Ruby had slipped away while everyone was taking, wanting a moment to herself. She had walked till she came to a beautiful garden full of red roses.
Ruby walked right up to them and gently touched one, taking a sniff. She smiled at the beautiful scent.
Ruby walked around the small garden, guided only by the moonlight. She walked till she found a small bench, Ruby then decided to take a seat. She let her head fall back, as her Silver eyes gazed upon the moon, she couldn’t help but smile. She didn’t know why but she was smiling.
As Ruby stared at the moon. She hadn’t noticed she had a visitor. Not untill Ruby herself heard the sounds of Weiss boots, as she walked over to Ruby. Ruby turned to Weiss as she flashed a small smile.
“Hey, this seat taken?” Weiss asked softly, as Ruby shook her head no, she slid over a bit as Weiss sat down beside Ruby. “So, why are you out here all alone?”
Ruby shrugged. “Just wanted to be alone for a bit, think a little, ya know.” Ruby said as she flashed her toothy grin.
“Yeah, I understand. Our little trip in the everafter was quite an adventure.” Ruby nodded in acknowledgement, “I am sorry by the way..” Weiss said as Ruby turned her gaze to Weiss.
“Sorry for what? You don’t have anything to be sorry for.” Ruby said as she tried to reassure Weiss.
“No, I do Ruby. I haven’t been the best partner. Truth be told, I haven’t been a very good friend either.” Weiss sadly admitted as Ruby looked away.
“Well.. I didn’t help much.. I didn’t exactly make it easy. I just felt so lost, felt I wasn’t enough..” Ruby looked back up to the moon, as it shined back, Weiss could almost swear Ruby’s eyes were glowing. “I was.. I was so mean to you, Blake and Yang. I just snapped, Jaune was right though. If it hadn’t been for me, we wouldn’t have been there in the first place.” Ruby deeply sighed as she now looked down to the red rose garden.
“Ruby.. you should know by now that Yang, Blake and I know it came from a moment of pain, before I met you, I’d have those moments too. Just blind rage.” Ruby turned to Weiss, as Weiss took a deep inhale and exhaled, she then softly smiled. I always felt so mad and lonely living under my father’s thumb. Having to live as his doll, not even being treated like a daughter. Just… something to be used, nothing more… I didn’t know what it was like to feel happy… till I met you, Ruby.” Ruby blushed as the moonlight bounced off Weiss’ hair, as now Ruby could swear that Weiss’ eyes were as bright as her own, she could feel the warmth on her face as she stared into those bright and deep blue eyes. Ruby gulped softly, she didn’t know why, but she couldn’t stop staring at Weiss. Like she was being drawn closer. Ruby had to fight to make herself look back to the roses.
“Weiss… I.. it still doesn't excuse my actions, or the things I said.. I just felt so.. not good enough.”
Weiss sighed “Ruby, you’re good enough.. you have gotten us through some pretty tough situations. If anything I’m the one who can’t be excused…” Weiss said sadly.
“What do you mean Weiss?” Ruby questioned as Weiss leaned onto Ruby, making her not uncomfortable, but shy as the faint blush came back.
Weiss snuggled into Ruby’s shoulder. “I let you down. Simple as that, I should have been more open for you to talk to me, I should have been the person you could’ve let your guard down with.” Weiss smiled softly. “You remember the day we met?” Ruby nervously chuckled.
“Yeah.. I blew us up.” As that only memory replayed in Ruby’s head, she felt embarrassed till Weiss started laughed.
“I was so pompous then, I needed to be knocked off my high horse.” Weiss laughed again, as Ruby looked at Weiss, as she continued to listen. “I needed you Ruby. I need you to be a better person, I needed you to be the best, well me.”
“You need me?” Ruby asked, as Weiss stopped leaning on her, and sat upright. Ruby couldn’t help but stare into Weiss’ eyes when Weiss brought her eyes into Ruby view. Once again the only thing Ruby couldn’t look away. “Weiss…”
Weiss gently took hold of Ruby’s hand. As Ruby gulped. Unable to look away, their eyes locked. “Ruby, I don’t say this enough.. but you are amazing, you blow me away, Ruby Rose, you're my hero and I am so unbelievably lucky to be your partner.” Ruby felt her heart start to flutter.
“W-WEISS! WHY ARE YOU SAYING THIS NOW!?” Ruby nervously screamed as Weiss continued to smile softly.
“Because Ruby, it’s our time to sort out our feelings. It's me making time for you, the way I should have before.” Weiss smiled softly. “When we got separated, it was the wake up call I needed. I need you by my side, I can not fight at my best without my partner.”
“Weiss…” was all Ruby could say as found herself unable to look away.
“Ruby..” Weiss began to blush as she smiled. “I.. I love you Ruby, and I don’t ever wanna lose you again.” Weiss leaned in and gently bought her lips to Ruby’s as Ruby was both shocked and surprised, she returned the kiss, under the moonlight, in the garden of roses. Unknown to ether or Weiss or Ruby, that they planted seeds of their own in that garden. Seeds of love.
—ten years later—
Salem is defeated, Grimm still walks the lands. Only things aren’t as bad, there is a great peace across the land, thanks to four very special huntresses.
One such huntress, Ruby is sitting on a small chair, toys litter the floor of the small room and she has a large story book in her lap, and two small beds are in the room with her, the bed on her left has a little boy with black hair and red tips as he sleeps peacefully, and to Ruby’s right sits a little girl with white hair and red tips and large silver eyes.
“As the brave Huntresses struck the finale blow! The evil Salem had finally fallen, and peace was restored to the land!” Ruby said loudly as the little girl grinned.
“Can I hear one more story mommy! Please?” The little girl asked loudly as Ruby put her finger to her mouth to signal to her Daughter to be quieter.
“You know three is the limit Summer, we can read more tomorrow. It’s time for bed, Nicholas is asleep. It’s time for you to be too, good night my little Petal.” Ruby said softly, kissing her Daughter's head, then tucking her in. “You have a big day tomorrow too. You and Nicholas start school. So get some sleep. Ok?”
Summer pouts, “yes mommy..” Weiss at this time was trying to open the door as quietly as possible, to see her twins after work, but was quickly spotted. “Mother!” Ruby sighed with a smile, as she turned towards the door. To see Weiss with her small smile.
“You think by now you’d learn Weiss.” Ruby teased as Weiss chuckled softly.
“I’m sorry, I just wanted to see my three favorite people in the whole world, but guess I wasn’t fast enough to see Nicholas.” Weiss chuckled, as Ruby set the story book down and sat up as she headed to the door, and to Weiss. She gave Weiss a kiss on the cheek as they both heard a very audible ew from Summer. Winter and Ruby both chuckle at their daughter’s comment.
”alright little one, enough. It’s time for bed. We love you Summer. Goodnight.” Weiss said as Summer yawned.
“Night mommy, night mother.” Weiss and Ruby exited the room and shut the door, as Ruby saw Weiss wipe tears from her eyes.
“Are you ok Weiss?” Ruby asked, as Weiss smiled brightly.
“Of course, just so happy to finally have a home, two beautiful kids, and my beloved Wife.” Weiss happily stated as she grabbed a hold of Ruby’s arm. “Now are you ready for bed?”
Ruby smiled back. “Yeah, and whatever else this world has left to throw at us.” Ruby gently kissed Weiss once more before they headed to their bedroom, hand in hand.
