“Near as I can tell ma’am we have zero options and worse is Alpine might be up there.” Maria swore “I love that damn feline but if she startles even one of them. They’re gonna stampede and a lot of people will be hurt or worse.” This was the latest situation on the ranch somehow their horses got out. And there’s an entire herd up on that mountain plus one absolute menace of a feline. Alpine has really done it now and Brock was half tempted to recruit Buck. He’s seen that man ride horses like a pro and he’s a vet.
“The more we wait the more time we’ve wasted waiting for shit to hit the fan. We put the clinic on notice just in case same with parameds we get up there. Fast as we can and chase them back down the faster. We do this the less chance there is for things to go wrong.” Grant commented Maria looked at them both her aviators on and flight jacket. “Boys your logic is so flawed, but we don’t have any other option.”
She yelled over “Carol call the vet clinic be ready for anything. Then call county tell them it’s Maria and this is an emergency stand by in case we need them. Go now.” Carol nodded running inside while they prepped as quickly as possible. That is until Bucky showed up Brock looked up. Just in time for him to jog over get on that horse and smile. They all looked between each other but no one was about to tell him no.
“What’s the plan exactly? Or is this just go for it and hope no one dies?”
Brock chuckled some “that’s the plan we get up and down fast as we can. With any luck and with an act of god no one gets hurt horses included.”
Buck was a natural despite having been a city boy the way he handles that horse oughta be in a museum. Or a master class “I’m also the only vet/medic on site that can help if shit goes pear shaped.
Which made sense Brock used his free hand to indicate “protect the medic at all costs. If he gets hurt and one of you assholes gets worse. I’m not saving you for all I care you can curl up in a ball and bite it.”
Maria looked over at him but Brock gave a minute shake of his head. Bucky didn’t need to know that there’s the possibility of his fur child being up there. When it got to the half hour mark Brock let out a loud whistle.
“People were burning daylight and it’s gonna be damn near impossible when that sun goes down! Let’s fucking move before we lose our window!” Brock steered his horse keeping Bucky in his view all the way up the mountain.
Then all the way down meanwhile Buck is having the time of his life zooming down it as fast as his horse would safely go. Mainly because this absolute menace decided the horses needed a lead. And tag Buck is it when they could safely get behind and to the side of them. Buck veered off they got to the bottom and Brock could’ve wrung his neck.
“Fucking hell pretty boy now I see where Alpine gets it from. Nearly gave me a heart attack I thought for sure I was gonna have to deal with an angry blonde. And an even angrier red head.” Bucky chuckled smile so bright it’s almost blinding.
Then he got down to business “all horses and their foals seem fine. But my clinic is making the trip down here anyway. If one of their legs strain they could easily hemorrhage on a dime.” Brock nodded “just tell my guys where to go and they’ll help.”
Thankfully everyone was fine and he even found Alpine riding on Preston. So there’s that. At least it all worked out this time.
