Mikey set her phone down and slid against the alley wall. Their heart was slightly pounding, their hands shaking even with compression gloves. He tried to calm himself by playing with his hair, messing with the beads and twisting them around. Raph tried to keep him at the lair like always, but Leo was on his side and managed to convince her.
"You let me and Dee out when we were their age, and we didn't even have cloaking brooches yet!", he had said. "Stop babying him, he has to learn by himself." Mikey didn't like when they argued, but she was grateful for Leo's stubbornness in that moment.
He was rummaging through his backpack when he felt a whoosh behind him. "Miguel!", a voice rang out now in front of her, as she jumped up with a squeak and spun around to face Spiderman. "Sorry, sorry!", Spiderman said with a chuckle. "I didn't mean to scare you".
"Nah, it's fine. What did you want to give me?". He had just noticed that Spiderman had on a jacket and shorts on top of his suit, and he wondered if that had something to do with the gift he was supposed to receive.
Spiderman's eyes seemed to light up as he said, "First, I gotta take you somewhere". They had an edge to their voice that made him slightly nervous, a light blush dusting his cheeks. "Grab on tight, Mikey", Spiderman gestured to her, opening and closing his hand. Mikey blinked.
"What?"
"I told you I needed to take you somewhere so come on."
"Oh." Mikey felt embarrassed as he grabbed their hand, hiding his face with his other. Spiderman pulled her close to his chest as he got a running start and jumped, webbing away. Her eyes stayed glued shut the entire time.
Spiderman softly let go of Mikey at a blank wall in- Mikey could only assume- Brooklyn. He had never been to this part of New York, fearing that he would get his surface privileges taken away if Raph ever discovered he went further than NYC. It was a lot louder too, despite it being well after midnight when they met up.
The wall, she noticed, taking her eyes away from the street, was almost completely clear. He thought that was really weird, it looked like a prime graffiti spot, yet there were only small tags higher up on the wall. "How's this wall so clean? ", he asked, his curiosity being so strong that the words came out of his mouth before he could even register he had started talking. "This looks like a great spot, but it's almost completely bare". They were honestly a bit worried that this area was violent or heavily policed or something. Spider answered with a slight nervous chuckle. "Uhh, I-I dunno. Maybe this part of town is just not popular!". His voice got higher as he spoke, leading Mikey to believe they had at least a bit to do with the mysteriously blank wall. Mikey giggled slightly under his breath.
They started getting to work on the mural, Spider handing Mikey the colors from both their bags as they worked. As they painted, Mikey would make small comments to him, earning a laugh with some of them. They would hand her a spray can, she would respond with, "Thanks, hot stuff", and Spider would look away, presumably just nervous. They were making great progress, falling in sync with each other's movements as if they had been working together for years. At least, that's what happened until Mikey started to notice some discomfort and tremors from his hands. Immediately he dropped the spray can and tried to hide the golden cracks from Spidey, but that only seemed to make him more worried. "Are you okay?!", he nearly shouted, which made Mikey flinch. "Y-yeah I'm fine, this just happens sometimes". He was desperately trying to hide the pain, feeling slightly bad that Spiderman was worrying so much about him.
She crouched on the ground, clutching her hands as Spider sat next to her. "Are you sure you're okay? Your hands are kinda.. glowing". His eyes widened as he tried to think of a lie, failing, and sighing as he prepared to tell them. "During the um- invasion, the nerves in my hands got pretty messed up because of the.. aliens." Spider held out his hands in front of him, and slowly, she put her hands in his. Mikey winced as soon as they touched, a shock running through his nerves. Deep breaths, She thought, breath quickening. Deep breaths.
"Is there.. anything I could do to help?". Mikey thought for a moment. "No, nothing really helps. Thanks for sitting here with me, though".
They sat silent for 10 minutes until Mikey's tremors went down, Spiderman getting up first and helping her up. They stared at the mural for a moment, realizing it wasn't nearly done. "Are your hands okay now?", Spider asked, lightly pointing to her hands then the wall. "Um.. my hands usually start to shake again if I go right back to using them. Sorry, Spidey". "N-nah it's fine! You don't gotta apologize for something you can't control." He stood there for a bit until Mikey spoke up, "So we gonna finish this up later?". "Yeah, cool". He put two thumbs up, if a bit awkwardly.
"MynameisMilesbythewayokbye". They barely finished their sentence before shooting away in a blink.
"..." "WAIT, WHAT?!"
