First Meet

It had been a month since the invasion. A month since Jr. first showed up, a month since the worst thing that's ever happened in his life. It was all over now, but scars still lingered. The Kraang had sunk their tentacles into the turtle's flesh; they managed to defeat them, but the wounds still hadn't healed.

Mikey gripped his wrist in a vain attempt to quell the tremors in his hands. He cursed under his breath. The portal he opened had done significant damage to the nerves in his hands and arms, effectively frying them. It affected his ability to cook, draw, or- right now- spray paint. Sometimes it was fine, he wore compression gloves and did physical therapy to try and rebuild their fine motor skills, and that helped for the most part. But sometimes, like unfortunately right as they were about to spray a line, they got really bad. Like painful bad. She clasped her hands together and crouched on the ground near an empty dumpster; he quickly discovered it was not, in fact, empty, but decided it wasn't the worst of his problems at the moment. His hands glowed gold through cracks in his skin. He didn't move until he heard someone call out behind him.

"Hey, are you okay?", she heard an oddly familiar voice ask. She swiveled on her heels to face them.
"Huh? Oh- yeah- yes, I'm fine, sorry." They felt their face heat up. "Do I know you? You sound really familiar for some reason." Yeah, great going, Mikey, he thought. That's exactly what you wanna hear from some random crackpot in an alley. He mentally shouted at himself for quite a while until the figure spoke up.

"I dunno, do you know me?". The voice seemed amused, and Mikey couldn't figure out why until they stepped into the light.
Oh, my spirits
I'm talking to Spiderman.
She quickly stood up and brought her hands down to her sides, though they didn't stay there long. "I-I'm really sorry about vandalizing! Please don't arrest me, my brother'll be pissed!". His pleas seemed to be futile until Spiderman brought his hands up. "Hey, wait! I'm not gonna do that."

Mikey stopped for a second, wide-eyed and confused.

"I'm kind of infamous with the police for 'accidentally' wrecking some of their cars. I don't wanna see them either. Might lock me up too." He chuckled slightly at the last part.

"Y'know, I do graffiti too, though it's usually in Brooklyn."

Mikey paused at that. The Spiderman actually did graffiti? New York's hero, beloved and admired by many, has the same interest as him? He felt as though he were dreaming.

"Really?" His tone was shaky and quiet, a mix of nervousness and admiration.

"Well, yeah! It's mostly small tags, but I do big pieces when I have the time. I have one I add to all the time."

"Did- did you want to maybe collab sometime? I'd love to see your work." It was a stupid idea, and she regretted it as soon as the words left her mouth.

"Sure, I'd love to! Your art looks hella cool."

Huh? Did he hear that right? Did he say yes? Forget cloud 9, Mikey went straight to heaven.

"Cool! Cool. Same time tomorrow?"

"That sounds good..?"

"Call me MJ. " Mikey had been using the alias for as long as Raph's let her out on her own, and she'd grown fond of it.

"Alright. See you, MJ."

Mikey walked home the most excited he'd ever been, and when he got home he immediately started drawing Spiderman's suit. The eyes never failed to impress him, being the only feature on his face and just so expressive. They must've drawn just the mask upwards of a dozen times when Leo walked through the door.

"Whatcha doin', Angie?", he asked nonchalantly as he slid onto Mikey's bed.

"Nothing much whatsoever!", She said louder than she meant to, covering her sketchbook.

"Mhm, I'm just gonna believe you're not lying because why would you lie to your big brother?" When he said that, Mikey started to sweat. He looked away, hoping Leo wouldn't press any further. "O-of course not! Why would you suggest that?"

"You would tell me if something was going on, right?". Leo's tone turned serious, startling Mikey at the juxtaposition. "You'd be the first I would tell, always, " he smiled at him. "Now get out of my room! " He threw a pillow at him. Leo finally got the hint and left, huffing something about not being appreciated as he left.

The rest of the night, he didn't sleep, looking up compilations of Spiderman on YouTube. He watched what felt like all of them, read every article about him, consumed every piece of content that featured him. He felt like a creep, but he couldn't get the interaction out of his head, especially his voice. God damn, his voice. She'd never heard someone who sounded so- so- so dreamy. He'd never had a friend before besides his siblings- and April, he supposed, but that didn't count. Donnie met her first. This was his first real friend, so maybe this was just what happened with friends.

He was still thinking about when they went to sleep that night, dreaming about that same spider boy. He couldn't wait to see him.
