Comfort Amidst the Flu)
Addie Barnes lay in bed, her body wracked with chills despite the layers of blankets cocooning her. Her head throbbed with fever, and every movement sent waves of nausea coursing through her weakened frame. The flu had taken hold of her, leaving her feeling utterly miserable.
Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes, her devoted fathers, hovered anxiously by her side, their concern palpable in the air. They had seen Addie endure sickness before, but never like this. The sight of their daughter suffering so intensely filled them with a sense of helplessness.
"I don't feel good," Addie murmured weakly, her voice barely audible above the pounding in her head.
Steve and Bucky rushed to her side, their hearts breaking at the sight of their daughter in such distress. They sat on either side of her bed, their hands reaching out instinctively to offer comfort.
"We're here, sweetheart," Steve said softly, his voice filled with tenderness. "We won't leave your side."
Bucky nodded in agreement, his eyes brimming with unshed tears. "We love you, Addie," he whispered, his voice thick with emotion. "We'll do whatever it takes to help you feel better."
Addie managed a weak smile, grateful for her fathers' presence. Their love was a source of strength, a beacon of light in the darkness of her illness.
But as the fever spiked and the nausea overwhelmed her, Addie doubled over, retching violently into the nearby basin.
Steve and Bucky moved quickly to hold her, offering words of comfort and reassurance as she emptied the contents of her stomach. They rubbed her back soothingly, their touch a calming presence amidst the chaos of her illness.
Once the worst of it had passed, Addie collapsed back onto her pillow, utterly exhausted. Steve and Bucky stayed by her side, their presence a comforting anchor in the storm of her sickness.
As Addie struggled to catch her breath, Steve and Bucky sprang into action, administering the nebulizers and setting up the IV to help replenish her fluids. They worked together seamlessly, their love for Addie driving them to do whatever it took to ease her suffering.
As Addie drifted off to sleep, she felt a sense of peace wash over her, knowing that no matter how bad she felt, she was surrounded by love. With her fathers by her side, she knew she could overcome anything—even the flu.
And in that moment, surrounded by the warmth and care of her family, Addie knew that she was truly blessed.
The end.
