Kamala sat on the window sill and gazed outside at the stars hidden in the midnight sky of space. She had snuck into Carol's ship a few hours ago and had waited behind some boxes until it was clear then she got up.
She sighed as she watched the stars twinkle. "Hey Ms. Marvel" Carol said with a soft smile.
Kamala turned around but remained sat on the window sill and she met eye contact with Carol. (CAPTAIN MARVEL!!) "Did I wake you?" Kamala hesitated to ask.
Carol just smiled and gestured for Kamala to move over so she can sit beside her. "The stars are pretty tonight." Carol said softly.
"They are" Kamala replied softly.
Kamala sighed and wrapped an arm around her knee. She felt Carol's eyes land on her ever so gently. "Did you sneak out?" Carol asked with a slight mischievous smile.
"Yeaaaah.." Kamala mumbled. Her eyes looked downwards.
Carol laughed. Kamala raised an eye brow and looked at Carol. Carol chuckled before looking at Kamala. "I won't tell if you won't" Carol said with a similar smile that Kamala admired.
Kamala smiled at Carol. "Thanks" Kamala added.
"No problem Ms. Marvel" Carol voiced with confidence.
"That's Sirius" Carol pointed to the window. "It's the brightest star in the galaxy" Carol smiled.
Kamala gazed outside the window at the star that Carol was pointing at. She looked at it with awe. "Woah" Kamala whispered.
"I know? Right?" Carol smiled as she looked at Kamala.
"Monica would love this" Carol noted with a sad smile.
"We'll bring her back.." Kamala looked at Carol with a special hint of confidence in her eyes. "Of course we will" Carol added with a sad smile.. she wanted to give Kamala hope but deep inside.. she's unsure if they can bring Monica back home safely.
"We won't stop trying until we do." Carol said with a sad but confident smile.
"We?" Kamala asked quietly as she continued to look at Carol.
"We're a team after all" Carol smiled as she wrapped an arm around Kamala's shoulders and pulled her closer.
"You said it" Kamala whispered with a hidden joy. "No take backs-" Kamala looked at Carol with full seriousness.
Carol laughed. "Pinkie promise?" Carol said as she held out her pinkie for Kamala to take.
Kamala linked her pinkie with Carol's. "We'll bring Monica back" Kamala begun.
"As a team" Carol finished. They both smiled at each other.
Carol then wrapped her arm back around Kamala and pulled her close. Kamala leaned her head against Carol's shoulder and they both smiled.
