Some Time
“Kiss marry kill the Hulk, Thor, and Black Widow.”
“This scenario does not seem realistic.”
“You’re such a buzzkill, Yana.”
“Kiss Thor, marry Black Vidow, und kill ze Hulk.”
“Fine then. But that was the most basic kiss marry kill you’ve ever done.”
“I don’t see you coming up with any.”
“Can ve not fight? Look at vhere ve are.”
“Oh please, she’d find this hilarious.”
“Why did we get stuck on Genosha with you?”
“Because Rogue and Gambit couldn’t stay.”
“Und you’re a vanted criminal.”
“Technically Scott got me out of that sitch.”
“You’re still on a SHIELD watchlist.”
“Who’s on a SHIELD watchlist?” Kitty yawned as she opened her eyes.
“And the prodigy’s awake,” Bobby announced.
Kitty looked around, not quite seeing them and then immediately realizing she was in some kind of hospital bed.
“On ze floor,” Kurt spoke, appearing next to her in purple smoke.
She looked over at the edge of the bed and down, seeing Illyana and Bobby seated on the floor across from each other, both looking at her now.
“Hey,” Kitty smiled softly as she locked eyes with Illyana.
Both her and Bobby stood up and stood by the bed.
“How are you feeling?” Kurt asked.
“Not much of anything to be honest,” Kitty admitted before looking at her leg under the covers. She felt numb from the waist down. Not that she wanted to move. She then rubbed her head before everything came back to her, “How did I get here? Where are-?”
Kurt placed a three-fingered hand on her shoulder. Bobby went to stand by the door and Illyana stayed on the opposite side of Kurt with her arms crossed.
“As you can see, you got hurt vhile fighting,” Kurt began an explanation, “You lost a lot of blood. Bucky and Sam didn’t vant to risk bringing you to anozer human hospital so zey used your vatch to contact me. Zey tried to stop ze blood after you passed out und vhile zey vaited for us. As soon as I got ze message, Logan und I got Illyana to teleport us there. Ve picked you up and got you medical attention.”
Kitty nodded, processing the story, “And what happened to them?”
“No humans are allowed on Genosha, Kitty. You know that,” Illyana interjected.
“Ve told zem zey had to stay back. Zat you vould likely contact zem vhen you voke up,” Kurt continued to explain, “Zey agreed.”
Kitty looked down, “How long have I been out exactly?”
“Couple days,” Illyana answered.
Kitty looked around, spotting the orange and gray watch on a nearby table. She then looked around urgently.
“Vhat are you looking for, Kätzchen?” Kurt questioned, looking around the room and trying to figure out what she was after.
“Where’s my laptop? Shit- where’s your rain jacket?” Kitty continued to look around, instinctively trying to move to get up and look for the objects, “Shit shit shit, did they get left behind?”
“Uh-uh no moving,” Illyana lifted her hand and gently pushed Kitty back to bed before turning around and rifling through a bag. She removed the rain jacket and Kitty’s laptop, holding it up for her view, “Barnes made sure we got it.”
“And Lockheed?” Kitty asked, slightly more relieved.
“Under the bed,” Bobby answered with a frown.
“What?” Kitty looked at him perplexed.
“Bobby vent looking for him at one point and got bit in ze nose,” Kurt elaborated, holding back a smile.
Kitty matched Kurt’s enthusiasm, “Wanna prove it?”
“No thank you,” Bobby shook his head, “I’d rather do a Danger Room session with Logan.”
The door opening pushed Bobby, cutting off the rest of his statement as Logan came inside. Logan huffed as he came inside, failing to apologize to Bobby.
“Look who’s up,” Logan acknowledged Kitty before sitting down, “Looks like you moved a bit.”
“She is still numb,” Kurt spoke before Kitty could, “She vanted to know vhere her zings vere.”
“She ain’t supposed to move,” Logan replied as he moved the bag to the floor and sat down in the chair.
“Good to see you too, Logan,” Kitty greeted him with slight sarcasm.
Logan looked at Kitty in bed and leaned back in his seat, “Alright, everybody out. I wanna talk to her alone.”
“Do we have to? I mean, she just woke up,” Bobby pointed out before being shoved out of the room by Illyana.
Kurt gave Kitty a reassuring look before following the others out. Kitty was glad Kurt looked better than before. He had the color back in his face and he didn’t seem uncomfortable standing.
Logan stayed quietly seated, watching Kitty for a moment before speaking, “Be honest, Cat. How’re you really feelin’?”
Kitty sighed. She really couldn’t lie to Logan. He had the unique quality of having a very accurate bullshit detector, “Sore.”
Logan nodded and then pulled a beer out of nowhere, using one of his claws to pop the cap off. He got up and then held it out to her, “Take a sip.”
She stared at him, utterly dumbfounded, “You’re joking.”
“No, I’m not,” He continued to hold out the bottle, “I promised yer first drink and alcohol helps with the pain. I don’t recommend using it in the future.”
Kitty nodded, half getting what he was saying before she took the bottle and looked at it, “I thought we three agreed to go together.”
Logan shrugged, “Don’t tell Kurt.”
“He’s German, he’s gonna know,” Kitty cracked a smile.
“It’s a sip,” Logan responded, “Yer the one that’s been pesterin’ me and him about yer first drink.”
Kitty laughed, “That’s true.”
“So take the sip,” Logan instructed.
Kitty nodded and then lifted the bottle to her mouth before taking a sip.
Once she was done, Logan took the bottle back and sat down, placing it next to him, “Congratulations, yer an adult now.”
Kitty laughed again. Leave it to Logan to be sarcastic and sentimental.
“You sure gave everybody a fright, Cat,” Logan brought up, leaning back in his seat, “I specifically remember telling you not to do anything I’d do.”
“I really tried not to get hurt, Logan, but that comes with fighting. Especially with Frost,” Kitty explained in defense of herself.
“Last I checked, Frost doesn’t fight with knives,” Logan made it clear that he wanted a better explanation, “And the place where ya almost bled out is a stab wound.”
“I am well aware,” Kitty looked down.
“So what happened then, Cat?” Logan prodded.
“I fought Walker. Then Sam. So did Bucky,” Kitty explained, “And then I fought Bucky.”
Logan nodded, taking in the information, “Remind you of Hydra?”
Kitty turned her head to look at him with confusion, “How did you-?”
“Kurt told me about it after you left,” Logan cut her off, “Saw him freakin’ out and pulled him aside to calm him down. He started rambling and spilled. Don’t get mad at him or anythin.’ He was just concerned.”
“I’m not mad at him,” Kitty stated, still confused, “I’m just confused as to why you aren’t madder.”
“Yer alive,” Logan replied simply, “And from the looks of it, you kicked his ass. I’m proud.”
Kitty nodded before looking down again.
“But you don’t seem proud of yerself,” Logan pointed out, “So what’s really wrong, Cat?”
“I feel bad,” Kitty spoke simply, not fidgeting with her fingers.
“Need me to get a doctor?” Logan asked, raising a brow.
Kitty shook her head, “Not feel bad feel bad. I mean, I feel like things ended badly with Bucky.”
Logan nodded, “Because of the stabbing, I assume.”
“That played a role, but I feel like we were making progress,” Kitty explained as best she could, “And then Frost went and fucked it all up.”
“First of all, language,” Logan narrowed his eyes before sighing, “And second, he’s probably feeling the same.”
Kitty scrunched her nose. He usually wasn’t the one scolding her about language. But he seemed pretty genuine about it, so she didn’t question it. Sometimes he just did things like that.
Kitty hesitated before continuing, “I forgave him, Logan. And then everything went to sh- bad. Went bad.”
“Good on ya,” Logan shrugged half-assedly as he adjusted his seating, “You know I hold grudges like I smoke,” Logan then continued, “But, the truth is, this is something you have to talk to him about one on one. Which means, send him a message on yer watch and then take the time to heal.”
Logan then looked at the beer and took a swig, “We’re pretty much on probation until you and Kurt are healthy again. Eh, we’ll figure out some way to sneak past Genosha’s security and off this island so we can avoid goin’ back to the mansion.”
“About that,” Kitty interrupted him, “What do you say about potentially going back to the mansion at some point in the near future? Like, not immediately after we leave the island, but at some point after that?”
She was expecting him to be angry. Or, at the very least, to be annoyed with her.
Instead, he looked relieved, “I’ve missed my bed.”
Kitty giggled, “That’s all you have to say?”
“It’s true,” Logan said, “I’ve missed my bed and I’ve been hopin’ to get back to it before Scott or the Professor turn it into some kind of gym or dorm.”
“So you’re not angry?” Kitty questioned, thankful he didn’t seem pissed.
“For the last time, no,” Logan shook his head, “All ya need to do is just tell me when it’s time to go back. I’ll drive.”
Kitty smiled, “Thanks, Logan.”
“No problem, kiddo,” He then reached into his pocket and pulled out the gray and orange watch and threw it over to her, “Now send that message.”

“I don’t know about you, but I’m going to need a break from all this mutant stuff for a while,” Sam declared as he walked with Bucky.
The two were headed towards a SHIELD facility where they were to meet Fury and discuss the events leading up to today.
“I’m not sure if it’s going to be our choice,” Bucky brought up. He’d been waiting for any message or sign from Kurt, Logan, or Kitty. A message that seemed to be taking forever to come.
“Well, Kitty’s injured and as far as we know, Kurt’s still recovering,” Sam pointed out with a shrug, “We’ve got time.”
Bucky nodded and went quiet, removing one hand from his pocket to scan his badge at the door, Sam doing the same.
They were directed down a long corridor until they eventually made it to the briefing room where Fury was waiting.
The metal door shut behind them with a clang and Bucky and Sam exchanged a look before approaching Fury at his desk.
Fury glanced up at them, wearing his usual disapproving frown, “Want to explain to me what the hell happened out there?” Fury got up from his desk.
“I’m sure you were given reports by agents,” Sam responded, keeping his cool.
“A fragmented report,” Another voice came up.
Both Bucky and Sam turned their heads to look at the source of the voice. Bucky instantly recognized Agent Munroe from Kitty’s dorm. Munroe wore a stern look that concealed a thin layer of annoyance.
“And who might you be?” Sam asked.
“She is Agent Ororo Munroe. She was the leading agent during the investigation into Katherine Pryde,” Fury introduced her and then went on to explain, “Since then, her role has been expanded to investigate the other mutants involved.”
Sam about half-listened and then approached Agent Munroe, attempting to introduce himself, “A pleasure to meet you, miss. I’m Sam-”
“Wilson. Yes, I’d be a fool not to know your identity,” Munroe cut him off, “And the pleasure is all mine.”
She held out her hand and Sam kissed it with a smirk. Munroe cracked a slight smile. Bucky and Fury watched on with discomfort. After the exchange was over, Munroe went to stand by Fury, removing an electronic notepad and a stylus from the desk.
“Moving on,” Fury broke the awkward tension, “Like Agent Munroe said, we’re lacking on the details. So do you want to tell us what you were doing with SHIELD’s most wanted?”
“We were working together to track down someone working with the Power Broker that was causing harm to their community. In exchange, they said they would help us find the origin of the government leaks to the Power Broker,” Sam explained, “Speaking of which, we never followed up on that last part.”
“Kitty told me she was working on it,” Bucky stated. Munroe’s eyes flicked up from the notepad to look at him.
“That’s great and all, but I need details,” Fury prodded, “What the hell happened?”
“We ran into a telepath by the name of Emma Frost. She got control of Sam and Walker’s heads and even mine at one point,” Bucky started to retell the story, “Kitty and I managed to get rid of the threat and free them, but Kitty got injured in the process and we let her people take her back to get medical attention.”
“So Frost is no longer a problem?” Munroe questioned.
“According to Kitty, yes,” Bucky affirmed and crossed his arms.
“And what happened at the hospital before Katherine went on the run?” Fury questioned as well, “During their breakout of Wagner?”
“Kitty went on the run because Frost got control of Sam and pushed him and Val to try and trick her and Kurt into possibly being imprisoned,” Bucky explained. Sam observed quietly, hearing this for the first time, “They were nearly successful, but Kitty and a group of other mutants as well as myself and Torres helped them save Kurt and escape. Kitty stayed behind and she and I worked together to take down Frost and free Walker and Sam. Simple enough?”
Munroe wrote down everything and tapped the tablet with the stylus.
Fury looked at him speculatively, “Do you have any idea where Pryde and the others are? If they’re still a threat?”
“They’re not a threat,” Bucky stated, looking him dead in the eye, “That group has no intention of causing anyone harm, so I think it’s time we stop trying to hunt for them.”
“And their location?” Munroe asked. Bucky evaluated her look. She knew.
“Unclear,” Sam answered.
“How many individuals do we know of again?” Fury asked Munroe.
She looked through the tablet. She knew the real answer, but she would never reveal that to Fury, “There’s currently seven. Six have been confirmed as mutants while the seventh was deemed innocent of anything.”
“The Drake boy,” Fury remembered.
“Robert Drake, former CIA,” Munroe affirmed.
“I can tell you right now he’s a mutant,” Sam confirmed, “But whatever happened to him?”
“Walker had him arrested under conspiracy suspicions. Drake somehow got an impressive lawyer from New York to represent him and he got out scott-free,” Fury reluctantly retold.
Friends in high places, Bucky thought.
“Drake disappeared not long after he was proven innocent,” Fury finished.
“So you think they’re all hiding somewhere,” Sam concluded.
“Correct,” Fury nodded, “We need to know where they are in order to keep the planet secure.”
“I’ll say it once and I’ll say it again, the mutants haven’t done anything to cause us harm. The only one that did was told to screw off,” Bucky argued.
“Need I remind you that these people leveled multiple hospital floors and one of the most highly secure prisons on the planet,” Fury retorted, before going back to his desk.
Bucky saw Munroe scowl in his peripheral vision. She was biting her tongue, holding back her own argument.
“Both were done to protect their own,” Bucky argued in her place, “SHIELD’s done the same thing with its own agents time and time again.”
“We would be hypocritical to keep hunting them,” Munroe added, “If we do, the likelihood is we’ll be making enemies instead of allies.”
Fury looked between the three of them, “So now you’re ganging up on me.”
“Seems like it,” Sam remarked.
Fury glowered at the three of them before pinching his nose and shaking his head, considering the options, “Fine. We’ll lay off them for now. If they follow through with their promise to help with the government leak, then we’ll leave them alone permanently.”
Bucky and Sam exchanged a look of approval and nodded. Munroe acted nonchalant as she wrote on the tablet.
“Also, can we leave Val out of this?” Sam requested, “Things really went to shit the moment she showed up.”
“I already dismissed her from this, but she still wants reports on progress,” Fury spoke as he went to sit down at his desk again, “Now if that’s all, everyone out of my office.”
Bucky and Sam went to leave, being followed out by Munroe.
Munroe cleared her throat once the doors closed, “Mr. Wilson, I would love for you to meet my trainee. You see, she’s quite the Captain America fan.”
“Of course, I’ve got time,” Sam agreed with a smile.
Bucky wanted to yell at him, to tell him this woman was probably a mutant. She knew Erik. She could be volatile. He then locked eyes with her. She was telling the truth. He knew that for a fact.
“She’s right down the hall,” Munroe stated as she went past them and guided them down the hall to an office marked with her name.
She removed a key from her pocket and unlocked the door to her office, holding it open for the two men.
Inside, Jubilee sat with a gaming device in hand. She was so engrossed in the game that all she said was, “How was the meeting, Storm?”
Both Bucky and Sam looked at Munroe with confusion. Munroe cleared her throat again, causing Jubilee to look up. She dropped the game device on the floor.
“She calls me Storm because I have an affinity for bad weather,” Munroe clarified, “You two may call me Ororo.”
“Yeah, what she said,” Jubilee spoke, looking at Sam gobsmacked.
“Jubilee, please come meet Mr. Wilson,” Ororo directed.
Jubilee jumped up and sprang over to Sam, introducing herself and just about talking his ear off and shaking his hand quickly. It left Ororo and Bucky standing next to each other by the door.
“I have to applaud you,” Ororo started, “For defending Kitty and the others. Not many would do that for people like us.”
Bucky looked at her, raising a brow, “So you know that I know what you are.”
“Erik contacted me not long after Illyana took Kitty to Genosha,” Ororo nodded, “He said she was safe but a human with a metal arm was looking for her.”
“I only wanted to help,” Bucky quickly stated.
“I know,” Ororo bowed her head, “You proved that when you helped rescue Kurt and when you delivered Kitty to Logan and Kurt when she was wounded.”
Bucky listened and paused for a moment, debating whether or not to ask, finally deciding he should, “Have you heard from them?”
“I have heard little from Kitty, Kurt, and Logan,” Ororo explained, “All you need to know is that they are safe. Kurt, Logan, and Illyana are all grateful that Kitty returned in one piece. I have heard nothing of her current state.”
“I was told I’d be sent a message once she was awake,” Bucky shared, “I probably know less than you do.”
“It was honorable, what you did. I know that she’s been tortured for many years,” Ororo began and then admitted, “It was admirable. Staying and seeking her forgiveness.”
“It was the least I could do,” Bucky downplayed it. Despite not being under Frost’s control, he still blamed himself for Kitty getting hurt.
“You are a good man,” Ororo stated, “No matter what you think of yourself, you are a good man with a good heart.”
Bucky nodded, not quite forming a response, but accepting her words nonetheless.
The two of them watched Sam and Jubilee eagerly speak to each other in silence before Bucky felt the watch on his wrist buzz.

“I actually think I might explode if I stay in this bed for any longer,” Kitty claimed and groaned as she flopped back on the pillows.
“Alvays so dramatic,” Kurt chuckled as he sat on the edge of the bed.
“Kurt, it’s been two weeks, I need to move,” Kitty begged, “Please, just help me stand and get around the room. No one will know.”
“Nein, you are on strict bed rest for anozer two days,” Kurt denied her the freedom she craved so badly.
“But I’m going to combust. Do you want me to combust, Kurt?” Kitty continued on.
“Nein,” Kurt chuckled, “I know you can make it anozer two days. Plus, I don’t vant Illyana coming after me.”
“Please please please,” Kitty leaned forward and tugged on his arm, “Just five seconds standing.”
“Not happening, Kätzchen,” He shook his head and denied her once again.
Kitty groaned and flopped over again, covering her face with her hands.
“Don’t pout. You vill be fine,” Kurt assured her.
“This is torture,” Kitty declared as she threw a pillow over her face.
Kurt rolled his eyes with a smirk and continued, “Have you tried to decrypt zat drive again?”
Kitty groaned, “I did, but it’s so unnecessarily complicated. Whoever the Power Broker is, they really don’t want their secrets getting out.”
“Zat is reasonable,” Kurt shrugged as he looked over the drive, “You vouldn’t vant anyone going through your personal items, hm?”
“It’s a little late for that seeing as SHIELD tore apart my dorm,” Kitty pointed out, her voice muffled by the pillow.
“Speaking of MIT, did you ever reach out to Riri?” Kurt questioned, now looking at Kitty.
“Nope, I mean, how do I explain this?” Kitty gestured to the room and Kurt, “This- none of this is normal.”
Kurt chuckled slightly.
“What are you laughing at?” Kitty asked, removing the pillow from her face and looking at him with suspicion.
“I zink you vill find zat Riri has her own secrets,” Kurt responded ominously before setting down the drive and getting up to leave.
“Kurt! You can’t just say that and leave!” Kitty shouted.
“Oh, vell I am,” Kurt shrugged with a smirk as he opened the door, “Looks like you vill have to ask Riri about it.”
Kurt exited the room and shut the door. Kitty groaned and flopped back over again.

“You don’t think it’s weird that we haven’t heard from them in weeks?” Torres asked as he stepped out of the jet, “Other than the message Kitty sent after she got better, we’ve heard nothing.”
“Relax, Kitty’s got a process,” Sam reassured him as he put the shield on his back.
“I could ask, but I doubt she’d respond,” Bucky replied with a shrug.
“Let’s worry about that after we hand in the crap ton of paperwork for this mission,” Sam waved it off and then led the two men out.
The three men entered the SHIELD base and were handed several forms before being dismissed.
As they filled out the forms, they heard someone approach them, “Fury’s really working you guys a lot lately, huh?”
They looked up to find Sharon staring at them with a stack of files in hand.
Sam smiled and shrugged, “He’s just trying to keep us busy while we wait.”
“Wait?” She tilted her head, “Does Fury have you waiting on something?”
“It’s classified,” Bucky replied curtly, narrowing his eyes at Sharon.
“Alright,” Sharon’s response mimicked Bucky’s attitude, “Does whatever it is have to do with that gala I got you tickets for? Because if it does, then I feel a little entitled to a real answer.”
“Yep,” Torres nodded. Both Bucky and Sam looked at him.
“Ah, so it has to do with the mutant problem,” Sharon concluded, “You could have just said that. I’m taking over those files.”
Sam looked up at her with confusion, “I was under the impression that Agent Munroe was in charge of those files?”
“Munroe handed in her notice. Apparently, she’s going back to teaching. Some school in upstate New York,” Sharon waved it off as small talk.
Upstate New York.
Sam had a realization and looked at Bucky.
“It was nice seeing you, Sharon, but we’ve got to go,” Sam bid her farewell before grabbing Bucky and Torres and finding a more private area.
Sam looked around before staring Bucky down, “Did you know?”
“Of course I knew,” Bucky spoke coolly.
“What are we talking about?” Torres asked, utterly confused.
“An agent we knew is a mutant and Sam’s just realizing this now,” Bucky explained quickly.
An oh fell from Torres’s mouth.
“They really are everywhere, huh,” Sam shook his head.
“You were thinking about asking her out, weren’t you?” Bucky asked, knowing the answer.
“I was.. Considering it, yes,” Sam admitted, raising his arms in surrender.
“She’s out of your league,” Bucky replied bluntly.
“He’s Captain America, nobody’s out of his league,” Torres sided with Sam.
“You don’t get to talk, you haven’t seen her,” Bucky responded to Torres and then looked back at Sam, “Probably best to just leave her be.”
“Alright, man,” Sam crossed his arms, “Have you reached out at all?”
“I’m giving them space,” Bucky sighed.
“Maybe check on them?” Torres suggested.
Bucky shot him a scowl before rolling up his sleeve and typing a message on the watch.

Kitty looked at her computer, just about ready to throw it into the sea as she gazed at another failed attempt to decrypt the drive. She shut her computer and then laid down in the grass.
On this particular day, she’d used her newfound freedom to find an empty clearing where she could focus solely on decrypting the drive. It was the perfect plan until she realized how difficult it would be.
Kitty gazed up at the clear blue sky. Genosha was starting to feel like a prison rather than a paradise, seeing as she had to sneak away to feel any sense of freedom. Kitty shut her eyes to absorb the sun for a few minutes. The warmth on her face was nice compared to the room she’d been provided after she was discharged a week earlier.
The temporary warmth was interrupted by a sudden shadow coming over her face. Kitty opened her eyes and glared upward, finding Illyana staring down at her.
“I knew you’d be out here,” Illyana smiled as she put a hand on her hip.
“How do you always know?” Kitty asked as she sat up.
Illyana sat down next to her and shrugged, “I just do.”
Kitty evaluated Illyana’s expression, “Something you need to tell me?”
“I’m heading back to the school,” Illyana admitted, “I was going to ask if you wanted to come with me, but you seem preoccupied,” She picked up Kitty’s laptop and plucked the drive out of it before setting it down.
“It’s something I have to do, you know,” Kitty shrugged, “I made a promise.”
Illyana sighed and looked at the drive.
“But I also made a promise to you. That I’d come home,” Kitty went on, “And I very much intend to fulfill that. I’m not breaking another promise.”
Illyana smiled at her with a certain familiar fondness, “I-,” She stopped herself, “You know how to contact me if you need me.”
“Always,” Kitty replied.
Illyana looked at the drive, “Are you sure you’ve tried everything?”
“I’ve tried everything twice at this point,” Kitty groaned before flopping down in the grass.
“So there’s nothing you haven’t tried?” Illyana continued to ask.
“Can you magic it or something?” Kitty asked. What started as a joke became a genuine question.
“That’s not how magic works,” Illyana shook her head before handing the drive to Kitty.
“I know, but I can’t figure this out,” Kitty claimed as she laid in the grass.
“Yes, you can,” Illyana decided, “You just need to try it from another angle. That’s what I do when I can’t understand a spell, I try it in a new way. Hank has always said magic is just science we don’t understand yet.”
“Since when did you become the wise one?” Kitty cracked a smile and questioned, sitting up to look at her.
“Try a few years in Limbo,” Illyana sighed, “But consider my advice. It may speed things up.”
“Right, because the sooner I get this done, the sooner I get back to you,” Kitty recalled, smirking at her.
Instead of getting flustered, Illyana confidently responded, “Exactly.”
“See, you always know where I am and I always know what you’re thinking,” Kitty acknowledged.
“Because you’re so predictable,” Illyana declared.
“And so are you,” Kitty retorted with a sly smile.
“Stop smiling like that, it makes you look silly,” Illyana rolled her eyes, not being able to help the small smile that crossed her face.
“Yeah, but you like me anyway,” Kitty assumed.
“You know what, I’m going to go before you make me stay here for another week,” Illyana stood up and dusted herself off. Kitty put on a fake pout, staying in place.
“I’ll see you around, Illyana Rasputin,” Kitty spoke.
“Until then, Kitty Pryde,” Illyana stood up and then created a portal for herself, smiling at Kitty before stepping through it.
Kitty looked at the drive for a long while, attempting to take Illyana’s advice and think of a new way to try and decrypt this pain. She pulled up her laptop and then plugged the drive in before cracking her knuckles and starting again.

“It’s about two and a half months off, but here’s to yer first drink, Cat,” Logan raised a glass and winked at Kitty.
Kurt also raised his glass with a fanged smile. Kitty did the same, holding up a fruity eccentric drink that she’d chosen from the bar’s menu.
They clinked glasses and then all took a sip. At the taste, Kitty scrunched her nose, “My god, that was sweet.”
Kurt clapped her on the back, “Now are you rezinking your choice?”
“Never,” Kitty blew a raspberry and then took another sip.
“Try not to get ‘er drunk,” Logan suggested as he ordered himself another beer, somehow having downed the last one at the last minute.
“It is her first time drinking, she has every right to get drunk, Logan,” Kurt argued lightly as he took a sip of his drink, “Shot, Kätzchen?”
“Gladly,” Kitty agreed. Logan grumbled to himself, preparing to order another beer.
Kurt ordered shots for all three of them, Logan reluctantly agreeing.
After a couple shots, Kitty went back to drinking the fruit drink from before.
“I’m so glad all that stuff with Cap and his buddies is over. I missed times like these,” Logan admitted as he moved on to what seemed like his millionth beer.
Kitty and Kurt stopped mid-drink to exchange a look.
Logan spotted them and then grumbled, “What now?”
“You can handle zis one,” Kurt handed it off to Kitty as he ordered another drink.
Kitty glared at him before turning to Logan, “So, there’s one last thing we need to do before we head back to the mansion.”
“You’ve gotta be shittin’ me,” Logan scoffed, “What else is there?”
“We just need to drop off a drive. That’s it,” Kitty explained with speed, “I uploaded all of the information they need to take down the Power Broker onto a drive. All we need to do is give it to them, then we’ve completed our side of the deal.”
“A drop off? That’s it?” Logan questioned.
“That’s it. I’ll ask Bucky for a location and then we can drop it off on our way back to the mansion,” Kitty finished her explanation.
“I can agree to that,” Logan nodded and then chugged his drink.
“Hurrah!” Kurt exclaimed, now extremely tipsy, “To our last day on Genosha und our future!”
“To stayin’ together,” Logan added.
“And to drinking!” Kitty added as well.
Kurt burst out laughing as they all downed another drink.
About two hours later, Logan found himself holding up both Kitty and Kurt as they made their way back to their temporary home on the beach of Genosha. For most of the walk, Kurt had been loudly singing some German tune before abruptly stopping and dropping his head, using Logan as balance. While Kurt had been singing, Kitty had tried to do the same, but due to her lack of fluency in German, she had just been making random sounds.
Logan managed to herd them both inside and got Kitty to her room first. As he laid her down on her side, he heard her mumble, “I love you guys.”
The moment her head touched the pillow, Kitty was out cold. Logan put a trash can next to the bed before exiting the room and leaving the door slightly ajar. He then repeated the process with Kurt. Logan helped Kurt stumble to his room and laid him down on his side, kicking a trash can next to him as Kurt mumbled something unintelligible. He then exited the room and left the door ajar.
