Place of comfort

God Savannah was so conflicted right now. On one hand, she loves her girlfriend and doesn't wanna hurt her. On the other hand, she really wants to tell her who she really is. Savannah can't live this lie any more. Sure, it might damage her relationship, but she may damage herself if she doesn't tell someone.

Penny <3

savannah: Penny pls come over I need to tell you something.

Penny: you can just text me!

Savannah: no it's important.

Penny: oh god Ricky you're scaring me

Penny: of course I'll be over in 10

Too late to turn back now. Sure, she's slightly scared, this is going to be her first time coming out to someone but the thought of coming out to someone has been eating her alive.

She needs someone to talk to when she thinks she doesn't look good enough, when she's standing in front of the mirror, crying at the look of her face, thinking she doesn't look enough like a girl. When she's in school, constantly having to listen to the blatant transphobia around her and having to act like every word doesn't effect her deeply. When she's constantly getting called the wrong name yet she can't tell anyone because no one else can know. When she has to cut her hair because she's getting bullied for having it too long. She needs someone. Anyone.

That's when she heard her bedroom door swing open. Savannah wasn't exactly in the prettiest state. That really concerned Penny.

"Oh my god, are you ok?" Penny asked, sitting next to Savannah on the bed.

"Not really" Savannah signed.

"Come on, take as long as you need" Penny said, pulling Savannah into a tight hug.

They stayed like that for a while, waiting for Savannah to calm down. Eventually, she did, and decided it was now or never.

"Penny, what I'm going to tell you now, has the possibility to effect our relationship, and possibly how you think of me, forever" Savannah signed shakily.

"Take as much time as you need, I can promise I will never think badly of you" Penny said, grabbing Savannah's hands and planting a small kiss on them.

"Penny, I'm, I'm not a boy" Savannah signed, slight tears pouring from her eyes. Penny just smiled softly.

"It's ok Ricky, honestly, are you non binary?"

"Penny, I'm a girl. I'm trans. I'm so sorry, I really am, just please don't tell anyone, I'm so sorry" Savannah signed, now crying hard.

"That's, not what I was expecting, but I really do not mind at all Ri- is it Ricky? I would love to know your name if you have one" Penny consoled.

"Savannah. My name is Savannah. I'm so sorry, I haven't told anyone i know in person before so I'm really scared" Savannah signed, still crying.

"Savannah. Listen to me. I will never stop loving you. In fact, want a secret? I'm pansexual. And you being a girl will never change my perception of you. I love you so much that I just love Savannah for Savannah, not just for gender, or looks, for Savannah. I love you so much, I will never leave you. " Penny said, now slightly crying herself.

"I'm so happy you're my girlfriend" Savannah signed.

"I'm happy you're my girlfriend too" Penny smiled.

By now they had fallen into each other's shoulders, crying. Penny has never been prouder of her girlfriend. She'll always be there, no matter what.

They let go, Savannah now having something else to ask.

"Penny" Savannah started.

"Yeah?"

"Can you help me come out to my parents?" She asked, to which Penny's eyes lit up.

"Of course I will! Honestly, I'm so proud of you, you'll never know" Penny said as she planted a kiss on her girlfriend's head.

Coming out to her parents went well. It didn't take a lot, Penny did the talking as Penny was too shaky to do it herself.

"-And it's not Ricky anymore, it's Savannah, and we wish for you to respect her" Penny said, to which Savannah's parents smiled wider than ever.

It was a long conversation of memories, like when Savannah was a child and would always steal her moms dresses, constantly draw herself as a girl, even from when before she lost her ability of speech she would speak for hours about wanting to be like the girls in her class, or be the girls in her class. How she stopped acting like that the minute she hit 6th grade and started getting bullied for acting feminine.

All in all. It was a very emotional day for everyone, but certainly one no one minded. It was probably the proudest day of Savannah's life.

The girlfriends walked into school the next day happier than ever, sure, no one else knew about Savannah. But Penny did. That's what matters.
