The Balcony

"So, how long are you stayin' in town?" asked Ashe, leaning forward on the table. She quickly glanced at the menu beforehand, but she knew what she wanted already. "About a month, but I arrived here about a day ago." responded Amélie, looking intently at the menu. She knew what she wanted to drink, at least. She basically lived off wine since the untimely death (read: murder) of her husband. Ashe smiled and leaned forward on the table slightly, getting closer to Amélie. Ashe smiled softly "Wish you could stay longer, gorgeous. So, what brought ya to the U.S?" Ashe asked, cocking her head to the side curiously. Amélie contemplated whether or not to tell her she was currently on the run from a terrorist organisation. Talon treated her like crap, all for Moira's experiments. They helped the company, at least. She only escaped thanks to the help of a certain loud-mouthed Mexican hacker. She'd never liked Sombra much, but she seriously owed her one for getting her out of that hellhole of an organisation.

"Travel. It's difficult to be a good assassin if you stay in the same place too long, people can catch on quick." Amélie lied, noticing Ashe's small motion forwards and doing the same. Their faces were a solid 12 inches apart, and they were fine with staying this way as they spoke. "I know what'cha mean." Ashe leaned back slowly with a smirk. "Can't let them catch onto you, me n' the Deadlocks have been on the run for about a year." she explained as the waiter comes by. The waiter was some pretty blonde woman, so naturally Ashe got a bit defensive. She sat up a bit straighter and almost side-eyed the woman. Ashe knew Amélie wasn't really her girlfriend, but she really didn't want some random person to ruin her chances. She almost forgot that her and Amélie were complete strangers about 6 hours ago. "Mkay, what can I get you girls started with?" the woman asked, pulling out a notepad. Ashe was really only there to drink, but if Amélie wanted food, she wasn't gonna stop her. "I'll have a red wine, s'il vous plait." Amélie said, and her elegant french accent filled Ashe's ears. Ashe flushed ever so slightly at Amélie's delicate voice but recovered quickly before speaking. "Uh, I'll have some beer." she responded, a bit coldly. The waitress smiled and nodded "Alright, ladies. I'll be right back with that." she said, scurrying away to the modern-looking kitchens. She looked over at her date, but realized Amélie was already staring at her. Ashe smiled and leaned back onto the table. "You hungry? I can buy us food if you want." she asked softly. Amélie shakes her head. "No, I'm not particularly hungry." she responded softly and smiled. She'd really never been 'soft' around anyone before, so this was a new thing.

"Alright, gorgeous." Ashe said, smirking as she twirled her blonde hair between her fingers. "You're such a flirt, ma belle." Amélie responded with a small chuckle. Ashe blushed and laughed quietly. "Well, how could I not flirt with a pretty girl like you?" she said, slowly leaning forward a bit more. "Oh really?" Amélie purred as she leans forward a bit too. Their faces were inches apart. Her breath was hot on Ashe's lips, and it made her face heat up as she gazed into Amélie's striking yellow eyes. Ashe could almost feel Amélie's lips brushing against hers, and she blushed profusely and smiled.

"Alright, here's your beer, and for the pretty lady over here, the wine. Enjoy!" the waitress said with a wink at a flustered Amélie, making both women quickly pull away before anything could happen. Ashe flushed and chuckled as she turned her head to face the woman. She did not enjoy the use of 'pretty lady' by the waitress, and she had to restrain herself from scowling at her. "Thanks." said Ashe flatly, waiting for the waitress to walk away. Once she was gone, Ashe looked over to Amélie who was sipping her wine. "Did you hear that? Who does she think she is, hitting on my gi-.. you." exclaims Ashe with a mix of embarrassment and jealousy, cracking open her beer almost violently. Amélie puts down her wine glass, which was actually almost empty. "Don't worry, cherie. I do not want... her." responded Amélie truthfully with a small chuckle, as if she was amused at the idea. "So, your name's Ashe? No surname?" asked Amélie, cocking her head to the side. Ashe's face drained of colour slightly, a complete opposite reaction to all the blushing done lately. "Well, my name's Elizabeth Caledonia Ashe, but I don't like 'Elizabeth' too much. Don't have a good history with that name, y'know?" she responded, taking a drink from her beer and looking deeply into Amélie's eyes. This was a bit of a touchy subject for her, and she swore she could see a flash of sympathy in Amélie's normally cold eyes. Amélie nods and sips her wine. "Oh.. je m'excuse." said Amélie, apologizing because obviously this was a touchy subject for Ashe. She downed the rest of her wine before piping up. "I've been told" she paused, just to make sure Ashe was okay. After Ashe gave a soft look back with a small smile, Amélie continued to speak "that this place has a wonderful balcony." Ashe sips her beer and her eyes light up a bit. "Oh, yeah! Not many people know about it though, sugar." Ashe finishes her beer and smiles softly. "You wanna go see?" she asks hopefully. A smile creeps along Amélie's lips. "Sounds lovely, cherie." Amélie stands up and reaches for her jacket, but Ashe beats her to it. Ashe drapes the jacket over Amélie's shoulders and she giggles softly.

Ashe takes her hand and leads her up the winding marble staircase. In the back of her mind, Ashe was still thinking about the name thing, the bad memories that came with being known as 'Elizabeth Caledonia Ashe", but with Amélie, it was like those memories were on hold. Not gone, just paused. They walked until they reached a doorway. They walked through the doorway which led to a beautiful stone balcony overlooking the city. The sun had set already, so they must have been in the restaurant longer than they had thought. Amélie gasped a bit and hugged Ashe's arm. Ashe looked at Amélie and smiled. "You like it?" she said as Amélie released her arm to go look over the edge. She nodded and seemed mesmerized by the starry night, meanwhile Ashe seemed to be mesmerized by her. "C'est magnifique.." she remarked, her voice hushed as she turned to look at Ashe who had settled next to her, leaning on the railing. "Glad you like it, sugar." Ashe took out a pack of cigarettes "You mind if I smoke?" she asked, taking out a cigarette. Amélie shakes her head and holds out a hand "Could I have one, cherie?"  "'Course." Ashe hands her a cigarette and lights it for her. "So, what's your story?" Ashe asks, taking a long drag from her cigarette. Amélie was still looking at the view, but she shrugged and glanced at Ashe. "I don't have one." responded Amélie, her French voice rasping a bit. Ashe honestly loved that voice but she'd never admit it. "C'mon, everyone's got a story to tell." said Ashe, a bit playfully, as she put an arm around Amélie. She waits a beat before answering, and she sighs. "I've been the world's best assassin, but being so... cold.. it comes with a price." she took a drag from her cigarette and went back to staring off in the distance "I killed my husband, Gerard, four years ago." Amélie responded, turning her head back at Ashe, who had apparently been staring at her this whole time. Amélie blushed, something that hasn't happened until a few hours ago. She hadn't felt anything for years, only the thrill of the kill. But with this woman, she felt.. something.

"What about you, cherie? Tell me." Amélie said, her hands traveling to Ashe's waist. Ashe got a bit week in the knees and she let out a shaky chuckle at the sudden touch. She may be a flirt, but she got flustered very easily. "I- Well- There ain't much to tell.." Ashe breathed, her heart started beating fast. Amélie got a surge of confidence as she saw the effect she was having on Ashe, and she put out her cigarette and pulled her closer, and this time she put her arms around Ashe's neck. Amélie chuckled softly. "You're getting so flustered.." she purred with a smirk. Ashe blushed profusely and they locked eyes, neither would be breaking eye contact any time soon. The staring was so intense, Amélie realized she never took the time to really look at Ashe's beautiful red eyes. Amélie leaned in and whispered in Ashe's ear, her hot breath hitting Ashe's neck. "Do I make you nervous, Ashe?" she murmured, smiling against Ashe's ear before pulling away. Ashe looked up at Amélie, breathing heavily and blushing profusely. Both of their hearts were racing, their breathing was heavy and uneven, and neither wanted to break this eye contact. "Kiss me.." breathed Ashe desperately. She'd never been like this before with anyone. This desperate. She just wanted to kiss this woman till she lost her breath. "I'm afraid that if I do, I won't be able to stop." said Amélie, smirking down at Ashe.

"Then don't stop."

Amélie smiled and slowly closed the gap between them, savouring every moment. She kissed Ashe once softly before pulling back, but even before Amélie could pull all the way back, Ashe took the neck of her dress and pulled her back in. She kissed Amélie desperately, and Amélie kissed back with the same energy of 'let this moment never end'. Soft noises escaped their lips as they pull each other closer. Ashe smiled against Amélie's soft lips and pulled back. Their faces are inches apart. Amélie smiled softly, and a purple blush spread across her cheeks. Ashe grabbed Amélie's delicate face down to hers, and her cigarette-and-alcohol scented breath was warm against Amélie's lips, and she felt the desire to kiss her again but she holds back. "Let's go back downstairs, sweetheart." said Ashe breathlessly, smiling slyly as she pulled away completely and wrapped an arm around Amélie's waist.
