Phone Calls

Ashe arrived home at around 6:30, she hung up her jacket and locked the door behind her. Her home was cozy, with a type of western feel to it. The walls were decorated with photos of the desert, and of Ashe and Cole. The radio played softly in the living room, and the evening sun was shining through the windows. It created such a nice atmosphere. She let out a heaving sigh, the thought of Lacroix still lingering in her mind. She poured herself a drink of whiskey, and she practically threw herself on the couch. Ashe eyed the phone nervously, and looked down at her shirt. She unbuttoned her shirt slowly and takes it off to get a better look at the numbers on the shirt.

Amélie stumbled into her hotel room, the weight of her gun making it a little hard to walk. She threw her rifle on the ground of her hotel, and wonders how many people come in carrying guns in America, because nobody seemed to mind the fact she was armed with a sniper rifle in a hotel lobby. She smiled at her freshly made bed, and she lay down on the comfy mattress. She took out a novel that was left for guests, but her eyes only glided over the words. Ashe was still in the back of her mind, whether Amélie wanted to admit it or not.

I hope she calls-

As if on queue, the phone rang. Amélie smiled as she picked up the phone.

"Bonjour?" she said, but she was almost certain she knew who was on the other end. Ashe smiled as she heard that French accent.

"Hey, gorgeous." she answered, and her face goes red at how bold she was being.

Should I have said that?

Ashe heard Amélie giggle before she heard her silvery voice again.

"Someone decided to call.. you must really like me, ma belle." she responded, and Ashe blushed slightly at the nickname. She smiles to herself, and chuckles softly. "How could I not, sugar? You were so.. bold.. earlier."  Ashe drawled, her voice a little bit breathy. Her heart was pounding a little faster, being on a call with the pretty woman she'd met only hours prior was having quite the effect on her.

Amélie smiled, she felt a warmth wash over her as Ashe speaks. "Well, I'm glad I could have such an.. effect on you." she responded, emphasizing the word 'effect' with a little rasp in her voice. "Are you doing anything tonight, ma belle?" Amelie asked, her voice becoming a bit breathy too. She felt more alive.. she hadn't felt that in a while. It wasn't strong, but there was something about Ashe that made Amélie feel almost living. Like a bullet leaving a gun, but the shot hasn't connected yet.

"No, do you want to ask me out?" said Ashe, smirking through the phone. She felt oddly giddy, and looked at the clock. It was about 6:45, and she figured it wasn't too early to go out. She heard Amélie chuckle through the phone and she flushed slightly.

"Peut-être, would you like to go out?" Amélie asked, a smile playing across her lips. She sat up, a feeling of nervousness bubbling in her stomach.

"Of course I would," Ashe smiled. "I know a place, I'll pick you up at 7:15. Wear something nice for me, sugar." she said, her stomach feels like it's doing backflips. Jesus, she felt like a middle school girl. Its almost like 13 year-old Ashe was coming back out, even though she was well into her 30's.

Amélie smiled. "Alright, cherie. I'm staying at the hotel in town, I'll be waiting for you.." she said, her voice a bit raspier. Her heart started beating faster, and she still had that lively feeling. It wasn't love, it was just.. a crush. She hung up the phone, and looked at the clock. 6:47 P.M, she had about 25 minutes to get ready.
