The best people in life are for free
Teddy fell down his bed the second his alarm started to ring, he had a slight deja vu from the first day of school which had already been almost 4 months, he grabbed a hoodie and a pair of sports shorts.
He quickly brushed his teeth, splashed water on his face, and glanced at his reflection, he looked good enough to go out without feeling weird, he went downstairs to the kitchen, his mother was there sipping her coffee and reading the newspaper.
"Morning sugar, I left pancakes in the pan and I think there is still a little milk in the fridge"
He grabbed 3 pancakes, poured the milk into a cup, and sat on the table to have a small conversation with his mother before grabbing his keys and backpack and going to his car, luckily there wouldn't be much traffic so he could arrive in time to class.
He parked his car right in front of the school and checked his schedule, he must have an awful memory of not memorizing the schedule he had for 4 months, he had mathematics, as he entered the building he saw Eli Bradley talking with a girl, he met Eli playing basketball after school, he was a nice guy, especially compared with Kesler and his group, and talking about John, Teddy tried to stay away from him, but he realizes that when he is around Kesler he is slightly less painful to be around, so he stayed close, not much, but still.
"Holy shit you came in time, this hadn't happened in like 2 months"
"Oh shut up I haven't been late in like a month" He said while stretching his hand.
"Oh yeah, she's Cassie" Eli said while she made a small salute with her hand.
"Hey, I'm Teddy"
"I like your hoodie, I like the color," She said.
"Really? This piece of cloth? it is probably older than me" Teddy said with a slight chuckle.
Cassie answered with a slight smile just before the bell rang, Teddy and Eli said goodbye to Cassie before going to their classroom.
"She seems nice"
"Yeah she's pretty kind, she's the reason I haven't failed math yet"
"Yeah, I still don't know I haven't failed yet, especially with the teacher we have" Teddy said shortly before entering with Eli to the classroom taking his usual seat at the back of the classroom.

"I swear you'll get in trouble someday for this habit of yours".
"W-What?" Teddy said in confusion.
"Dissociate, whenever we talk there comes a point where it becomes obvious that you are not paying attention to me".
"S-Sorry" Teddy said still confused, but he knew what Eli was talking about, he knew exactly what he was talking about, he was right, he always stopped paying attention to his conversation with Eli at a certain point, but he didn't dissociate, he's just trying to be discreet when he looks at Billy, yeah, he still isn't over him, the difference is that this time they are just 2 desks apart, being Kate's one of them.
Eli sighed, shaking his head. "Whatever, man. Just don't blame me when you miss something important."
Teddy nodded absentmindedly, his attention already drifting back to Billy. Billy was engrossed in his work, his brow furrowed in concentration as he scribbled notes. Kate, sitting next to him, seemed to be whispering something, causing Billy to smile occasionally. Teddy couldn't help but feel a pang of envy. They seemed so close, and their friendship appeared effortless.
