A good dream
Summary
You found yourself in the past can you change it?

“Where the…”

You look around you and you have no clue where you are. A place covered in steel and glass. Kind of like a lab of sorts.

“Alright…breath. You’re smart, you can figure this out. That’s your whole thing.”

You assess the situation. You remember…fading? Disappearing, like teleporting but different, more slow.

“Well…I’m definitely not in Kansas anymore.”

You walk slowly and you figure it out, a wall tells you all you need to know.

“No way…” you touch the sign.

It’s the Facility. The place that made your girlfriend. When you figure it out your heart boils with rage but you calm down. You can’t afford it yet.

“...didn’t think they would still be around.”

You left the wall and continued making your way down the hall. Sneaking past the guards you made it to a glass window leading to a white room. You had no idea where you were but then you saw something and it made your heart stop.

“My god…” you touch the glass and there she was the love of your life, but she’s so…young. So…sad.

“Laura…” That answers a question. Time travel, what a wonder. But that didn’t matter now. You shouldn’t see her but…you have to, you just had to. You couldn’t leave her to hurt.

So you open the door and take slow measured steps to her with your arms up

“Hey…relax please. I’m…I’m a friend.”

She looks at you, then she stares and takes a sniff and then proceeds to do nothing

“Okay…” you put your hand on your heart. “Can I sit next to you?” she nods slowly and you do so.

“I’m….Y/N. I….you’re….” you take a breath and smile “....you know I didn’t know you were so cute when you were young.” you let out a chuckle “...I’m sorry. For what’s happening. It’s…it shouldn’t and I’m sorry I couldn’t do anything before. But…I can tell you that this isn’t forever. You...you’re going to be amazing, fantastic even. You’re going to have so many friends and…..and you’re going to fall in love and…it’s going to be great, you’ll see.”

She stares at you, with eyes wide, shocked at what you’re telling her.

You hugged her and held her in comfort, you felt her grab onto you like you were safe.

“You’re going to be so loved Lau…” you take a shaky breath “you’re going to be so loved. You’re already loved.”

Then you heard something fall onto the floor and get into a protective stance.

“Who…the cameras, how did no one…?”

A female voice, you looked at her name tag and saw something familiar.

“I hacked them, it’s on a loop. You’re Sarah, right? Sarah Kinney?”

“How…”

You point to her name tag.

“Can we talk in private? Please…”

Your voice sounded sad, she nodded her head and you found yourself in a secluded hallway. Just you and her.

“You want to take her away right?”

You see her tense up.

“Relax, I’m on your side. I want Laura to be happy.”

“You…you’re not from here are you.” She puts two and two together.

‘Crap’ you thought to yourself “Yeah…um…I’m from Canada?”

She shakes her head “I meant…this time. You’re…you called her Laura. I didn’t tell that to anyone…not even her.”

She grabs your arm

“Tell me is she…did she…is she happy? I..I need to know…” she starts to cry “Did I do the right thing?”

“She…” you smiled “...you did the right thing. She’s…doing her best. She’s beautiful, she has friends and a family. She’s loved. She’s so loved.” you place your hand over hers “Thank you Sarah. For what you did.”

She stops crying soon after.

“Okay…let’s get her out.”

“Wait…”

Laura told you how it originally went down, the facility was destroyed but Zander Rice still got the last laugh. The trigger scent forced Laura to kill the first person who actually loved her. You won’t let it happen, not this time.

So while Sarah was getting Laura out you decided to pay him a visit. He didn’t notice you at all and with a snap he was gone. You’re not sure if your Laura would be disappointed in you for that but it didn’t matter.

Just as Sarah exited the facility with Laura in her arms the facility was destroyed and wiped from the map in a fiery explosion.

“My god…” Sarah muttered out in the snow while holding Laura in a protective embrace.

You soon emerged from the rubble.

“No one should be coming for you. The facility is gone, so get to the mansion. I’m sure you know where it is.”

“Thank you” you felt her hand on your shoulder. “Not just for this but for the future as well, for loving my daughter like you did.”

“How did….”

“It was obvious, what’s your name?”

“It’s…Y/n, Y/n L/n” then you vanish, like you were never there. But you were, Sarah Kinney is alive. Laura never killed her and she can finally have the life she deserves.

The next thing you remember was Laura jumping on to you.

“Where have you been stranger?”

“...a good dream” a smile graces your face as you say that.

“That answers nothing…” she kisses you. “You better tell me everything later.”

“Of course…”

In another time and place, both mother and daughter make it to the mansion. They were safe, protected. Sarah…found herself as a teacher there and Laura…she could finally be an actual kid. Years later, she meets a boy her age. A new student, as broken as she would have been if she never left the facility with Sarah.

Logan…her father(still feels weird) introduces her to him.

“Darlin, this kid here is Y/N. Show him around will ya?”

She smells him, it’s familiar, it's him…her hero.

“It’s you…” and she pounces on him with a hug and a smile.
