let the good times ponder
The team hasn’t brought up Peter’s seduction techniques again, and he himself is happy to leave it in the past. Admittedly, Peter thinks they’re only avoiding it because he’s done nothing else for them to nag about. Whatever, he’ll take what he can get.
When he thinks about Yondu, Peter doesn’t recall thinking that they were doing anything wrong per se. He remembers being angry. Gods, was he angry. And he remembers being spiteful. But he doesn’t recall ever thinking that what Yondu told him to do was bad.
It was just a shitty part of his shitty life. But for Drax, Gamora, and Rocket to see an issue with it? That means it can’t have been good either.
And it wasn’t always shitty. Peter grew into his flirty pastimes. He got really good at it and didn’t mind batting his eyelashes at whoever was looking.
So did it really matter if it was bad for a little while?
Peter saved all of his units up, and he got away from the Ravagers, and that’s what he wanted. Who cares about the nitty gritty details?
Flirting was a part of Peter. He doesn’t think he could get rid of it if he tried. Quite frankly, Peter has only seen good come from his charming nature as of yet. He doesn’t see a reason to change himself.
But the team wasn’t asking him to change. They were telling him that growing up the way he did was wrong. And not that it was wrong of him, but that it was wrong of Yondu. They weren’t judging him; they were judging his upbringing.
Okay, that didn’t sound the best either. But still, Peter’s point stands.

“Peter, come eat!”
Peter flounces up the ladder leading to the kitchen, Walkman left on his bed. He could smell Drax’s cooking, a stew native to his home planet. Rocket is already seated with a bowl in front of him, Groot at his side with a water bottle and an artificial light.
Gamora dishes out three more bowls and sets them at the table. She looks incredibly soft, hair wet from her shower and wearing an old sweatshirt of Peter’s.
“Thanks for cooking, man,” Peter addresses Drax.
”You are welcome.”
Drax being a good cook was a surprise to them all, but they’re glad that he is. They’d be eating a lot more processed shit without him.
Peter looks around and thinks about how they all fit together. He thinks about how it doesn’t bother him to share such a tiny space with these three. He thinks that he loves this family.
