Chapter 3

Logan and Morph pulled onto the road with all the vacation homes that the team were staying in. Wolverine could hear Morph’s breathing and heart rate pick up again, but this time they seemed more excited than worried. The two parked on the road between their cottages and got out of the car. Morph held the dolphin plushie close to their chest and covered half of their face, but Logan could still tell that they were blushing wildly. “So uh, you wanna do this out here or-”

Logan cut them off by grabbing their hand and pulling them into his cottage. For it being the first day that they were there, the whole place was already trashed, like he didn't care where any of his stuff ended up, but the small couch was clean enough for the two to sit. Logan grabbed the toy from Morph and set it on the coffee table that had his still wet shorts from earlier on it. “I know you said you’re worried about this, that y’ don’t trust your own brain right now, so if there’s anythin’ I can do to help you feel more grounded, let me know. We don’ even have to-”

This time Morph was the one to cut him off. They grabbed his face and kissed his lips, and he kissed back. Their fingers ran through his sideburns and around the back of his head to pull him closer. Logan opened his mouth slightly and Morph followed suit. Their mouth tasted like beer and ice cream. He ran his hands along the side of their ribcage, down their waist and landed on their hips. Without their lips parting he pulled them up onto his lap. Morph moved their legs around and hooked behind his back. After a few minutes they stopped and pulled away from his face.

“Everything ok Kev?” Logan moved his hands up to right under their shoulder.

“Yeah, yeah I just-” They collected their thoughts, “Did you mean it when you said you wanted me to be happy as myself?” They were still wearing dark hair and brown eyes.

“Of course I did. You can be yourself now if you want, I’d like to see your other face again if you let me.” He touched the side of their face.

“Ok. You know, if you want, I can be someone else too.” They were hesitating and their eyes shifted away from his.

“If I wanted someone else, that's where I’d be.” He reassured them. “If you don’t want to keep-”

“I do! I do. It’s just that, uh, I mean I want you to know that you have the option.” Morph still couldn’t meet his eyes. “And uh, I know how bad you want Jean.”

“Kevin, I don’t. Not anymore.” He moved his head so that they were forced to look at him. “I want you, and if you want to look like this, I’m fine with it, or your other form, or hell if you decide to change your look entirely that’s fine too, as long as you ain’t tryin to be someone else for me.”

They shifted into their base form, their face still seemed worried though. “I’ve never kissed someone like this before.” They paused and waited for a response, to which Logan had none, “I haven’t used this form since I was a child. It wasn’t until I was going through treatment that Moira suggested it. My parents didn’t even want to look at it. So if you don’t want to either, it's fine, I get it.” Their voice was quiet again. “You just have to tell me.”

Logan grabbed Morph and pulled them into the deepest kiss he possibly could, their tongues met and Morph let go of a very deep breath that they didn’t even know they were holding. Their arms found their way to his chest, feeling him up and down, and Logan did the same in return. He moved the already off-shoulder shirt Morph was wearing it bit their neck. “Oh, I wouldn’t do that!” Logan came away from the attempted hickey and parts of Morph’s goopy skin came away with his teeth, like a long piece of melted cheese. Morph let out a hearty laugh from their chest as Logan tried to fix his mistake, trying to maneuver the skin back to its place on their shoulder.

“Shit, sorry I didn't realize that could happen!” He tried to apologize, but he was laughing too.

“You gotta warn me next time! Ok ok try again.” Morph solidified their shoulder and Logan began to kiss at it, slower this time, then he bit their neck, leaving a soft bruise and Morph moaned.

“Sorry for being weird.” They breathed into his shoulder.

“I love how weird you are.” He moved back up and softly kissed their lips. They leaned into him, breathing harder, there was no space between them anymore. Logan’s hands made their way under Morph’s shirt and their heart rate picked up again.

They pulled away and said “Not tonight, Logan, I don’t want to take it further than this.”

“I was just feelin, wasn’t tryin to do anythin else.” He felt Morph’s breathing under his hands, he ran his thumbs up and down the shallow ridges of the ribcage. “You’re skinny,”

“Haha, yeah, I’m working on it.” They leaned in and kissed him to keep him from talking about their body, to no avail.

Logan leaned away this time and asked, “Can I take your shirt off? I wanna see more of ya’”

Kev contemplated for a second. “You gotta show what I do.” They offered, and without hesitation, Logan ripped off his black t-shirt. Morph’s face flushed with pink, sure they had seen him shirtless before, today even, but being this close and intimate, knowing that the reason for his breathing being so heavy was them made them blush like crazy.

“Haha, you look cute in pink.” Logan teased, noticing their excessive staring at his chest. It wasn’t chiseled like Scott’s or Remy’s, but it was big, and housed all the muscle it needed to and the hair on his chest looked like a jungle. “Ok, your turn.” He started undoing the few buttons left on Morph’s shirt, and their face just grew redder as his hands made their way down their chest and revealed all the scars that came with their past and stretch marks that came with being a shapeshifter. “You’re so pretty.”

“You don’t have to lie.” They didn’t believe him.

“‘M not,” He kissed their shoulder. “You look like porcelain.”

“Cracked porcelain.” They sighed.

“You ever hear what they do in Japan when they break ceramic? They repair it with gold. It's real pretty.” He grabbed their waist and ran his thumbs over the small scar on either side of their belly button. “You’re porcelain and gold, Kevin.”

Their eyes fluttered, staring at him in disbelief. The red only their face only grew. “I don’t know what to say.” They genuinely didn’t believe what he was saying. All those visions and illusions, none of the best parts even came close to what they were feeling, how Logan made them feel in that moment.

“Could say something nice back.” He grinned and they pushed playfully at his shoulder.

“You look like how it feels to cuddle with a teddy bear.” Their eyes were wide and a smile on their face appeared.

“Or a stuffed dolphin.”

“Or a stuffed dolphin.” They repeated and leaned into him again, the kissing was slow but it quickly picked up as the two learned more about each other than they knew before by touch alone. Morph learned that Logan’s biceps were incredibly firm, and Logan learned that Morph was squishier than they looked. At some point, Logan picked up Morph and carried them to his bed, still without parting lips, this is something they both wanted for so long, why did it take this long again? Morph laughed as Logan kissed at their collarbone and his sideburns tickled their exposed skin. They grabbed his face and looked at him, “I wish we could stay like this forever.”

“I know, but we gotta be X-men at some point. Think we both owe Charlie that.” He hovered above them.

“He’s not even here though, he’s in space, playing dress up with some alien bird lady. How did you guys even meet her, again?” They had missed a few things and were still trying to catch up to anything relevant.

“Hmpff” he plopped down next to Morph. “That’s a long ass story that I don’t feel like tellin.”

They leaned over to lay on his chest. “Another time?”

“Maybe. You stayin the night?” He placed his hand on their shoulder.

“You told me that I look like porcelain and gold, you’ll be lucky if I ever leave.” They snuggled into his side and he brought the blanket over both of them, and they both softly drifted off to sleep.
