Clint goes visiting

Clint wasn’t entirely sure which venue he should check out.

Should he go to the house?

Should he go to the community center?

Skulking around the home of the local director of the FBI would probably be frowned upon, especially if no one was there.

Community center it was.

Clint walked in the front door, keeping it casual.

Just in the neighborhood, checking the place out.

Not a threat.

Not out of place.

Tony had definitely thrown some money at this place, the technology wing had Stark written all over it…literally in some places.

The guy at the desk paid him no mind.

That was good.

Gym

Art spaces

Office

Public restrooms

And then…

Hesitant and careful.

*you are uncle C L I M T*

Clint crouched down to meet Brianna, he carefully took her hand and helped adjust the finger positions for the finger spelling.

She tried again.

*you are uncle C L I N T*

Clint grinned. “Yeah, that’s me.”

She grinned in response and pulled him forward, he moved out of the crouch quickly so not to end up on the floor.

Brianna pulled him into the room to meet Papa Cooper. First carefully showing papa cooper the right finger spelling.

Cooper nodded.

*Hello C L I N T*

“Hi.”

So…yeah…this was probably what the others had been feeling…

This was family.

Good family…

Not the….other kind.

He stayed most of the day. Helping Brianna with the signs from the flash cards and chatting between set up for classes with Cooper.

He joined them for lunch.

Met Isaac.

Isaac who had dozens of questions about sign language and how his hearing aids worked and told him about the surgery he had on his ears when he was younger because he didn’t hear like he should with one ear and that was before Brianna came.

He tested Clint’s vocabulary, asking for a variety of signs used in math and Clint let him know he’d look some of them up before summer camp, because he didn’t typically sign algebraic equations or calculus, but he knew the signs existed.

Clint reminded himself that the briefing he and Nat had assembled was very clear that Isaac’s father had a PhD in applied mathematics and his mothers had been a computer programmer (hacker) and a statistician. So….yeah….maybe he needed to sort out some specialized vocabulary here.

Cooper kept an ear and an eye on the conversations…Isaac happy to know there was an option for communicating if his ear stopped working again and geez….no one had thought about that one, Cooper was sure of that. It had been almost two years since that hospital visit had happened, right? Hell, they’d had so many things happen that resulted in hospitalization since Isaac joined his dad that Cooper wasn’t even sure.

He texted that intel to the SG.

Ian blinked looking at the text.

*Hey, has Isaac talked to therapist, re ear surgery? Just told Clint he was happy ASL was available in case his ear stopped working again.*

Ian stared at a point on the range ceiling for a moment.

The next text that came in wasn’t from Cooper, but his mother, the continuation of wedding plans.

He’d call Charlie when he had a moment and they’d talk about it with Isaac. Explain the surgery a little better and what had been wrong with his ear, maybe?
