The disaster starts
March 2009, FEDRA section number 4
Wednesday, 8am
Joel says when tess gives him a questioning look "I ain't expecting anyone"
He stood from his chair, walking towards the door that was getting knocked on over and over again; grabbing his gun, he stood behind the door, ready to ask who it was
The way that they cracked the door open with a few but hard kicks made him fall onto the floor
5 soldiers in the house, kipping their guards up as they searched the room
One of them yells out that he had found her, the next second Joel is looking at her pregnant daughter whose arms are in the grips of two of the men
Joel doesn't know how or when but he can see tess pointing a gun at them, threatening them so they would leave Sarah alone
He can't hear anything expect his own rapid heart beat, trying to breath, he stands up, throwing a punch at one of them, it lands perfectly on the soldiers nose
He struggles to free himself from the two frim grips that are holding him back from reaching to Sarah, he can see tess who's limp body is on the floor
With a sharp move of the knife by the soldiers hand on Joel's fingers his grip gets loose on the gun, it falls on the floor
Sarah is crying, joel feels the wetness in his own eyes, he can feel the way his own hands tremble, he can't move them to wipe the tears away from Sarah's face, or to free her from their tight grips
A second later and he gets knocked out by them
Sarah is no where to be seen when he wakes up, tess has left a note that she is looking for Sarah
3 𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴 𝘢𝘨𝘰
The speakers wouldn't be used much except the night-time to announce the same rules of people not being out in the dark over and over again
But on a Wednesday morning they announced some new words for people to hear
"Here we go again" tess mumbles with her eyes getting slowly open as the speakers get turned on
She doesn't turn to face Joel who is on the other side of the bed, instead she moves her eyes to take a look at the clock
It shows 5am
"Dear people, as we all remember how our world got ruined, how it got smashed by a virus, and how no-one is able to create us a solution, here we are to give you people some good news" the man behind the speakers says, he doesn't even bother to apologise for waking them the fuck up
She got up from her laying down position and instead sat on the bed, the darkness of the night hadn't left the sky yet
"Me myself, I have lost many friends, a son, and my both wife's, and I believe that you people have also felt pain, the grief, the sadness and mostly the anger that has gotten shaped inside our hearts because of the dear friends and family's that we have lost through this cruel time" The man continues
It wasn't usual for them to announce the same stuff in the middle of the night just to ruin peoples tight sleep schedules
"But finally after all these years of suffering, FEDRA is now able to create a cure for the humanity, but that wish will only come true with people's help"
"As we have all heard about the dramatic and imaginary heroes that used to be so popular back them, they have had their sacrifices, all of them have chosen to save the world instead of saving a loved one, cause not even the dearest person will be able to replace thousands or millions of innocent lives"
"So I'm going to repeat myself, this cure will only come true if we get help from you, and your friend's"
"We need help from your wife's, your daughters and your sisters who have not delivered their baby yet, there is no risk at losing or damaging the mother or the baby, we just need to test the blood and take some, then they'll be back in the warm hug of their family and will receive the cure in a month"
"Have a great day, we will see you at the main hospital"
At 8 am gunshots feel out the place, FEDRA soldiers point their weapons up as their make their ways into different houses, people had shown no reaction to their new announcement and it had not made the upper hands feel very great
It didn't take long for them to make their way into Joel's house, to search the rooms, and to find Sarah and to take her

2009, Friday, April
3pm
"I was your mother's friend"
"Oh" it's all ellie can manage to say, massaging her wrist, trying to ignore the pain that the handcuff had given her in the past week
"Just that? Oh?"
"I'm just surprised that you kept your friend's daughter locked up for an entire week, I wouldn't do that if I was you, or at least if I had done it I wouldn't call myself a friend anymore"
Marlene shakes her head, chuckling "You're just like your mom, ellie"
"Did she see the colours?"
"Yes, she...we were able to see the colours when we met each other"
"You two fucked? Or like, went on dates or something?"
"Soulmates do not have to be partners, ellie, they can be siblings, or just friends"
"Then I'm not like her" Ellie continues when Marlene asks her why "I can't see colours"
Ellie thought that Riley would be her Soulmate, but even after Riley came back from her 46 days of being absent the magic of seeing the world with its real colours did not happen for ellie
Riley had found her Soulmate in those 46 days of being absent
"What is he like?" Ellie had asked her when they were on their way to the abounded mall
"My Soulmate?" She had laughed "I never said it was a he"
Riley had described a tall girl, who was 2 years younger than Riley herself, a blonde
"Did she also see colours when you two saw each other?" Riley had said no, she didn't sound sad though, she had also mentioned that "I dont really care, I like her, and I'll get to talk to her and know her when I leave here" they had a fight after that, cause ellie was too jealous to let Riley leave her; only to go and be with the blonde haired girl who had not Riley as her other half, as her Soulmate
"It's ok, you'll find them in the right time" Marlene says and causes ellie to snap out of her thoughts of the dead Riley
Thirty minutes later and there is the man named Joel, she doesn't look at him when she runs towards him with her knife being pointed
He simply kicks her on the floor, placing his foot on her knife so she won't pick it up
"I'll give you the battery after you're there, the car, and whatever else that you need, just take her with you, please" Marlene doesn't sound weak even though she is bleeding
"I dont give a shit about my battery, you promise me that I'll have Sarah safe and sound and ill take this gril wherever that you want"
"You will, joel, you'll have your daughter with you in the same hospital that you need to take ellie to, I swear"
The sound of FEDRA soldiers steps get closer by each second that Joel wastes on thinking about trusting Marlene or not
"Joel we gotta go" tess gets closer, warning from where she is standing behind him
He grabs ellie by the arms and lifts her up on his shoulder, goes for the back door
"You asshole- my knife-" Ellie screams, trying to free herself
She calms down a bit when she catches the sight of tess picking her knife up from the dirty floor and pushing it in her pocket; the wink that tess gives her makes her smile even though Joel's shoulder is uncomfortable and hurts like a stab in her stomach
