Summary
Helana Stark was a busy woman. She was a scientist in a world torn by war, a businesswoman in a male-dominated field, and an icon of women's power in a place where it was shunned. She had to be sharp yet soft, violent yet peaceful, flirty but untouched. And that was the problem. Helana was much too busy to be a good enough wife to keep her husband in their bed, much too busy to be a good enough mother to see how isolated Tony was because Marcus wasn’t there unless she was there to convince her he was a good father, much too busy to be a good enough friend that she noticed when Obi started plotting her murder.Busy, busy, busy. Right up until she died. Then she has nothing to do.Nothing to do but watch her baby grow up and regret it.When Tony dies and the battlefield is left covered in dust the very stones who killed her baby offer her the chance to go back, to fix her wrongs and 'make the world a better place'. She says no, and apparently, that is what they'd been waiting for.

“Antony!” She calls happily as she rushes through the other students and their parents. The graduation had been brilliant, and Tony had been the valedictorian [of course, her baby was amazing]. His speech about then pathing the way to a brighter future was brilliant too and she was sure applications to Stark Industries would soar again. “Lumina mea dragă a stelelor. Sunt atat de mandru de tine.”  She tells him as she crashes into him, crushing him into a hug.

“Mamă!” He laughs as he crushes himself into her chest just as hard. “I’m so glad you made it.” Hank frowns as he approaches, he’d chosen not to run as soon as the ceremony was over so he was only getting there now.

“Of course I made it!” She laughs as she pulls back so she can cup his face. “Draga mea, lumina stelelor mele, all grown up and ready to take on the world.”

“It’s just Aunt Peggy said…” He trails off, she’s good at hiding her emotions but Tony knows her better than anyone. She knows he saw the way her smile shifted from real to fake.

“It was a bit of a close call.” She lies as Hank scowls. She plans exactly how she’s going to make Peggy pay for making Tony have doubts as she pets his head. How dare she. “But I’m here and I will always be here, okay?”

“Okay.” He says, wrinkling his nose when she kisses his forehead. “Who’s this?” He asks wearily. She’s just as good at reading him so she can tell that he already knows who Hank is, looks like he’s been getting JARVIS to hack Shield again.

She introduces him anyway since Tony clearly wants to pretend he doesn’t know Hank. “This is Dr Hank Pym, he’s my best friend. Hank, this is the light of my life and the future’s best chance not to fall into disrepair, Antony Stark.”

“Glowing review kid, it’s good to meet you.” Hank grumbles as he shakes Tony’s hand.

“Mamă exaggerates.” Tony says with slightly reddening cheeks, so cute.

“I’m glad we made it in time, I was worried that I wouldn’t be here to see you getting your graduation gift in person.”

She steps back and moves to the side, watching confusion wash away to wonder. “Rhodney!” Tony rushes into the his friends arms. “What are you doing here? Weren’t you supposed to be deployed?”

He had been but she’d pulled a string and gotten it postponed for a week, his entire unit was currently enjoying the all-expenses paid break with their families, and by a string she means that she’d asked if postponing was possible and they told her that it was if she toned up some of the Hammer Tec they had laying around. It took three minutes to see that it was basically useless so she melted it down and now they have free Stark replacements. Stane had thrown a mini fit but she’d managed to dazzle the board with her plans for the official line-up of cybernetic limbs for veterans [significantly powered down, of course, she wasn’t about to flood the streets with winter soldier grade prosthetics].

“We’ll be looking after our heroes during and after battle. The public will eat it up.”

She lets them hug and chat for a few minutes before approaching. “Are you all packed Tony?” She asks making them look up.

“Yes, I just have to get it.” Tony tells her with a wide grin.

“Oh good, we’ll have time for lunch before you leave. If you could be a dear and help, James, that would be wonderful.”

“Leave?” Tony asks as James hooks their arms and starts walking towards the dorms.

“Yes Ma’am.”

“It’s Helana, James.” She reminds with a smile.

“Yes Ma’am.” He says again before he speeds up.

“Where are we going?” Tony asks again, addressing James this time.

“Tones, I have no idea but your mom is terrifying so we’re just going to do what she says before she strings me up by my toes.”

“She wouldn’t do that!”

“Dude, do you not read the news? Your mom makes grown men cry for fun.”

“Well, yeah. But she likes you, it would be a quick death.”

“Not Helping!”

She grins after them until they are out of view. “Would you like to have lunch with us Hank?” She asks as she turns to him.

“No, I have a few things I need to fix.” He sighs. “I’ve got a ride home too so no need to worry about dropping me off.”

“Are you sure?” She asks.

“I’m sure. Have a good lunch.” He assures.

“You too, and hey, I’m call away if you want help.”

He eyes her outstretched hand for a moment before taking it. “You too Helana.”

“So, where are we going?” Tony asks as they’re sitting down for lunch.

A glass of her favourite wine is brought out as soon as they’re properly seated. “Thank you.” She smiles as she takes it. “I’m going to have a relaxing week at home building things I don’t have to hide in a bunker to build.” She hums as Tony and James are given sparkling grape juice to match. “You…” She pulls out the keys for the house on the new island she bought. “… will be having a relaxing week on our new island catching up with your friend before he has to get shot at again.”

“Really?!” Tony asks as he takes the keys. James just sits there with his glass half up to his face, frozen.

“You’re an adult now Tony, eighteen and everything. I trust you to be responsible.” She promises. “I don’t trust you to be able to cook though so Anna and Edwin will be there with you.”

“I can cook!” Tony protests.

“You’ve set fire to our kitchen so many times Dum-E forced you to create a fire hydrant back-pack for him.” She intones.

“I was a kid.”

“This was last spring.”

“Exactly, a kid.”

“Tony, I think we need to stop arguing with your mom. She just gave us keys to an island.” James cuts in.

“For a week.” She reminds as menus are placed on the table.

“Yes, Ma’am.”

“Edwin and Anna are already there as well because I don’t want you to starve to death.”

“Yes Mamă.”

“Now, tell me about this secret project you were making as your graduating assignment.”

Tony beams and pulls out his phone, a phone bathed in metallic orange. “Say hi, FRIDAY.”

“Hi FRIDAY.” The cheek Irish voice says making her grin.

“Hello, FRIDAY. I’m you bunica Helana.”

“I know grandma, JARVIS told me and Tată confirmed.” FRIDAY tells her happily.
