It’s Friday and still no sign of the redhead wearing beanie. Peter stood at the entrance of the building again, waiting for the thin silhouette to appear. MJ stepped beside him, rubbing the back on his neck as a soothing gesture.
“He won’t come today either Pete…” the sad scent of Peter only grew, but he nodded in defeat and turned towards the door.
“He won’t answer my texts or calls, i don’t know what to do MJ…” he sounded overall hopeless, his brows where knit in concern. Early on Tuesday morning Harry had left the house, Peter tried to convince him to stay and even sleep on his bed while he go downstairs to give him space. The redhead was like a shell of his former self. He was flat and monoton, the faint sad scent lingering in the air it was sickening, while he got his bag and went to the door.
“Goodbye Pete…”
And then he left into the early cold morning. It still was dark outside. Peter’s Alpha howled in protest, leaving his pack member in such a vulnerable state to go alone home in such hard weather conditions. He was the reason for it and he knew Harry was freezing all the time.
But he let him go nonetheless, seeing how evading and uncertain the smaller male was around him crushed Pete. He was the reason why his friend was in pain, he couldn’t handle it because he had no fucking clue about Omega dynamics. Always assumed they know their own way and he just needs to give them space.
Like MJ told him back then on the phone; ”you know as soon as it’s over.”
He needs to care for his pack members, each one of them, he couldn’t keep dodging problems, even tho he didn’t meant it in a careless or ignorant way, he just didn’t knew better. He thought if he’d respected each of their privacy he would be doing the right thing.
As soon as the class was finished, he headed over to the library section of their school and grabbed a certain book he was always eyeing it out of curiosity, but also avoided the hell out of it. As he finally got home again, he bumped right into a smaller person.
“Peter! You scared me.” The woman turned around and scolded him softly before her face broke out into an endearing smile, Peter looked down at her doing the same, before he leaned down for her to kiss him on his forehead.
“How was school dear?” She turned around and took a basket as she was heading to the laundry room. The brown eyed male cringed inside but swallowed it down.
“It was okay May.” She sat her stuff down before she eyed him suspiciously.
“I wasn’t born yesterday, you smell like a thousand puppies died.” She leaned her attention back to the machine in the corner, waiting for him to elaborate.
He bit his inner cheek worrying it and eventually formed some words together. “What do you do… when someone hurts you?” She stood still for a second, words registering, she headed to the Alpha that was one feet apart from her. Directly addressing these kind of issues wasn’t his strong suit.
“What happened did someone start a fight with you??” She grabbed his forearms lifting it up and eyed it for any injuries. Peter’s eyebrows went up, he collected himself quite fast.
“No everything is fine with me, what can i do if ‘i’ hurt someone ‘mentally’?” She let his arms fall down as they dangle besides him.
“Did you dump somebody?” Peter looked a bit helpless at her. “Or is it about one of your pack members?” He nooded desperately, looking for any guidance on this scenario. He didn’t really want to read that book that he borrowed, he only did it as a backup plan, if Aunt May might not have any tips. It’s not as invasive as reading that thing.
“Oh Peter… back when your uncle made mistakes,” she made a pause considering if she should really say it, instead she changed the sentence and looked intently back to him. “Never use your ‘voice’ against a lower ranked member if it’s not helping them, treat those more who are touch starved. That’s all i can get for you now until you get more specific and less cryptic.” He looked down in his nervously playing hands. He always avoided these kind of topics with May. He nodded eventually and thanked for her advice. He didn’t want to put it straight out there that it was about Harry, he already was having a hard time even pressing on that kind of topic. With another Omega.

After he took a shower, he got some shorts and a tank top over his body and settled down on his bed, he rummaged inside the backpack, searching for that specific book. He finally got a hold of it, as he was pulling it out he eyed the titel with an underlying sense of anxiety. It was so invasive…
‘Alpha & Omega dynamics’
Ever since Harry presented as a beautiful Omega he always tried not to look too much into these kind of things. It could harm the privacy in between them greatly, but after that horrible night, he knew he should’ve at least known where to start. It wasn’t healthy for his pack and for himself either. He noticed his Alpha being more restless and his sleep was not great either.
He swallowed some nervous energy down and opened it.
The first site was a breakdown of each chapter. It covered pack dynamics, comforting, communication verbally and nonverbal and so on. That’s exactly what he needed. Peter was maybe a bit clueless and new to these second gender roles but he surely wasn’t dumb. He knew he must have of sent some nonverbal signals which hurt the redhead. He shuddered in disappointment as he relieved that whole situation.
His eyes fleeted over some later chapters in the book and he flushed immediately. Heat/rut cycles, bonding, breeding, knotting…
He swallowed, shifting a bit and quickly went to the pack dynamics section.

Somebody gently shaked him awake, Pete straightened immediately up. He eyed the blurry figure and identified it as the kindhearted Beta.
“Hey man, haven’t really seen you all day, thought I’d came by… are you… okay?” The brown haired Alpha rubbed the sleep out of his tired eyes, he sat more upright to lean on the headboard. Miles was still standing there with his hands stuffed inside his jacket, eyeing him and seemingly scanning the other intensely.
“I honestly don’t know Miles, i’m just feeling off…”
The Beta cocked his head slightly before speaking up the thing that was on his tounge for days now; “it’s about Harry isn’t it?” Peter didn’t even look up to the other and just nodded in defeat.
The younger counterpart was considering something and then proceeded to let his backpack, which was hanging on just one shoulder, slide down to the floor as he situated himself on the other end of the bed, facing his friend.
“You really take good care of us Peter.” He eyed the taller ones book which was still sprawled open on his lap with the topic of pack dynamics and bonding. The Alpha had a soft tint of pink on his cheek bones. He closed the book slowly and placed it on the nightstand beside them. Peter rubbed his neck and scoffed, it came out more like a tired puff of pent up air.
“Are you sure? Because i never really had done something to begin with.”
“Maybe you weren’t the most active Alpha in our group, but you where the most supportive. Besides we already have an intrusive Alpha in our pack.” Miles replied jokingly but still with a certain confident voice. The taller looked up again, searching in the Betas eyes for a lie. He didn’t find one. He sighed again, eyes falling into his lap again.
“It’s the least i can do for you guys.” Silence came over again, until Miles eyes turned back to the book on the nightstand.
“With what are you struggling recently, maybe i can help?” Peter bit the inside of his cheek unsure.
“I don’t really know how…” Miles took pity on the older male, he shifted on his spot getting more comfortable.
“It’s about pack stuff right? Or also about Omegas?” Peter looked up again, eyes widening. The Beta knew he had struck the right point.
“Listen man, i know something must’ve happened on Monday night.” The Alpha visually tensed. But he continued to listen patiently what the younger had to say.
“I have a girlfriend and she is an Omega too,” the reveal surprised Peter, he looked up to the musician, Miles never mentioned to the group that he had a relationship especially with an Omega. Nonetheless he was happy for the shorter one, he seemed so fond of her, noticing it alone by how his tone filled with fondness. “So i had some similar struggles because i didn’t really knew what Omegas needed, she was very experienced but had to teach me a ton of stuff just in case. most of it i was just concerned if i would be enough because i’m just a Beta.” His tone grew somewhat sad, Peter took his resting hand and squeezed it in a soothing way. Not wanting to verbally disturb his speech. Miles sad frown flew away and he had his unbothered smile again.
“So if it’s about Harry, i would certainly try to go over his apartment and discuss it directly with him,” he eyed the book on Peter’s nighstand again. “It’s good that you want to inform yourself beforehand, was the same for me, but it’s fundamentally different if you do it from the beginning with the person.” He added it softly and squeezed the Alphas shoulder assuringly. Peter nodded and sighed again.
“That sounds like a good start… but i’m scared if i will do something wrong and chase him off, or even worse, hurt him.” Peter almost said ‘again’, he didn’t want to bother Miles with his own dilemma. He is a grown Alpha for fucks sake. But he really appreciated the Betas reassurance in this case. It helped him a lot to get a new perspective on it.
He nodded with a much lighter mood on his tired face. “Thanks Miles, this helped a lot.” The other winked at him before getting off the bed and Peter doing the same.
“Wanna stay over and have a bite? I’m going to help May with the food, wouldn’t hurt for a skinny guy like you to join us.” He teased the younger male, the other scoffed and jokingly elbowed the other.
“Of course i’m in, man.”
