Chapter 35: Found
Loki was in New York by early evening, but once he was through customs and outside he slipped off a single cuff and waved his bag away to their room in Sean's apartment and then fished out his phone. He pressed the phone to his ear as he hailed a taxi and after another moment's thought waved away the cuff that wasn't responsible for his glamour to one of his pocket dimensions so he could have partial access to his Seidr.
The phone went to voicemail, but he knew May's job demanded hours of her at the hospital so he left her a brief message letting her know that he was there and he was going to get started right away. A taxi pulled up next to him after a moment and he climbed in as he stuck his phone back in his pocket and asked for a random place in Brooklyn.
It was a fairly quick ride by normal standards, but it felt like it took forever before he was finally able to pay the cabby and climb back out. He waited for him to drive away before he slipped into the alley and once he was sure there was no one deep in the alley with him that would see him he popped up to the roof. He looked over the city before he took a deep breath and closed his eyes.
He slowly sunk into his Seidr. The noise of the city faded out until it was no more. Next to fade out was the the light. Next to go was his sense of smell. One by one until there was nothing for him to
focus on except the baseline readings of every person's energy in the city. It was a lot. It would have been impossible to even attempt using this method of tracking people. Especially in such a heavily populated area. Normally it would be madness.
Fortunately when he had met Peter there was just a feeling about him, which he knew now was probably the radio activity from the spider bite, but at the time he hadn't known that, but it was unique. It was still a headache to untangle everyone from each other before he could start trying to pick up which one belonged to Peter, but finally after about three hours he had a single one that he was focusing on that seemed like it would belong to Peter.
He grapsed onto it, but let his surroundings come back to him in a slightly disorienting rush of color and noise. He blinked and shook his head a little, but kept a tight grasp on Peter's signature. Once he had his bearings about him again he took himself back down to the alley and then started to follow the signature. He was pretty sure he had passed the good Captain Rogers and someone else with him. He caught a glint of metal and dark hair, but he wasn't worried. They had been headed in the opposite direction of where Peter was so they wouldn't be interfering anytime soon. The closer he got, which he noted was also farther away from the city, the stronger it got and the more sure he became of the fact that this was him.
Loki was eventually lead to what seemed to be some sort of what once was just an abandoned warehouse, but seemed to have been set up shop in for a couple days. There were goons guarding the entrances and making rounds. He watched for a couple minutes, wanting to get a feel for their pattern. Once he did he popped up behind the two by the front door and made quick work of knocking them out.
Next he tackled the two on the right side of the building making their patrols. Then the ones on the right. Then the ones in the back and the two on the roof. He piled them all neatly nearby and then found a window to peer in to see what the situation was and luckily one of the windows was smashed so he was able to hear as well.
There was no one inside at the moment, which he was thankful for. He smashed in the rest of the window and slipped in. It wasn't hard to find Peter. He looked pretty roughed up despite the healing factor he knew he had. One of his ankles was swollen, one of his eyes was sporting a shiner, one of his teeth were missing. He seemed to be favoring his left side where he was laying on the ground, but most concerningly his eyes were hazy. "Peter!"
Peter kind of looked over to him and blinked. Blinked again. A couple more times and then squinted a little more. "M-Mr...Lyle?"
Loki nodded as he hurried over to his side and knelt down next to him. "Peter did they give you something?"
Peter took a lot longer to think about that then he should have needed given how smart and sharp the boys mind normally was and he realized whatever was coursing through his veins was messing with his abilities to sense things. To think. Loki growled in anger. How dare they! He wanted to rip apart the one in charge of this little operation, but...no. Later. First he needed to get Peter safe.
"Don't worry about answering." He said gently as he stood and then bent down and pulled him up like he was nothing more than a ragdoll. He shifted him onto his back and hooked his arms under his legs. Peter's arms weakly wound around his neck. His head drooping against him. "M' tired..." He murmured.
"I know, go ahead and rest now Peter. You're safe."
As if that was all the nudge he needed He felt Peter's weak grip slacken completely, but it was okay. Loki waited until he was sure he was asleep completely before he teleported and took himself to Sean's apartment. He laid Peter out on the bed. He took off his other cuff that dropped the glamour so he could have full use of his Seidr then retrieved his phone. He gave May a call and she answered on the first ring.
"Hello? Lyle? Did...did you find him?"
"I did May. I brought him to Sean's apartment. He's a little hurt, but I used to be a doctor before I moved to the States and I don't think he would want a hospital poking and prodding at him. There's no
need to rush over here. Finish out your shift and when you are home give me a call. I'll bring him to you. In the meantime he's in good hands. Alright?"
"Thank you. Thank you so much...he's not hurt to badly is he?"
Loki shook his head. "No. No not to badly. Nothing that can't be fixed with a little rest."
"I'm taking you somewhere nice for breakfast tomorrow. After I give him an earful."
"Oh...that...you don't have to do that May. I'm a father. I know how it would feel if I ever lost Sean or Kevin. Have a good rest of your shift alright?"
"Alright." She sniffled a little before she thanked him one last time and hung up to return to her work.
Loki turned his attention to Peter when he heard a knock on the door. "Lyle?"
"You can come in." He called as he started to work on healing Peter. The physical injuries first. Then he would work on ridding him of whatever they had used to drug him.
Sean stepped in and his eyes went wide as he saw his friend laying on the bed. "Peter?" He said in a small voice. Hesitant to come any closer to the bed.
Loki gave Sean a reassuring look even as he continued to focus on his healing. "Sean he will be alright. It's not bad. What's important is that I found him."
Sean nodded as he finally forced himself to tear his eyes away from his battered friend. "What...what happened to him?"
Loki shrugged. "I am not sure. I think he might have gotten lost for a couple days in the outskirts of the city. You just go on to bed or whatever it is you were doing. I'm proficient in using my powers to
heal him. Come morning he will be resting comfortably. If you want to come with me to May's house I'll be taking him home to her once she gets off work."
Sean nodded along and decided that sounded like a pretty good idea. If Loki said he was going to be okay then he would be. It was just a little startling to see. "I...yeah...I want to go." He said before he stepped out of the room and closed the door behind him.
Loki turned his attention back to Peter. It took about a half hour to heal his physical injuries, but before he moved on he instead rested his hand on Peter's forehead and did a little gentle snooping around. He didn't just rip forth the memories like he had the creep at the park and it didn't take very long. He backed out of his head once he got names and faces of the ones that were responsible for this. He sat down on the bed next to him and let his healing Seidr start coursing through him. Cleansing energy slowly washing away the poison in his veins.
While he subconsciously focused on that he focused and soon enough an illusion was sent to Tony's lab. "Stark."
Stark looked over from where he had been laying on the couch going through updates from the rest of the team and he was on his feet in an instant. His phone forgotten as it clattered to the floor next to him. "Did you find him?"
"I did. I also come bearing gifts of names and faces." He said as he glared at one of the tables. "I still don't know why. I didn't want to poke around a whole lot, but I found him in some sort of warehouse
on the outside of town. They were underlings on guard, but the leader or the one who had made this call was not. They drugged him Stark." He said and he couldn't quite keep the ire out of his voice and eyes. "That's why he couldn't break free and I think that's how they managed to capture him in the first place."
His rage was mirrored in Tony's own brown eyes. "Who?"
Loki moved a little closer and held up a hand. "I won't do anything else."
Tony gave a nod and Loki reached out, making his hand solid, and placed his hand to Tony's head and let the images of the ones responsible transfer to Tony. Once he was done he took a step back. "If I do something about it, it might alert the others. I trust you have this handled?"
"Damn right I do."
"Good. Peter is with Sean and I at his apartment. We'll be taking him home to May once she gets off her shift. Also make sure to let the team know he's been found as well." He said before his illusion flickered out and he was fully back in the bedroom. It took longer to cleanse the poison from his veins, but he was sure he hadn't gotten the residue of every last drop he pulled his hand away. Waved his hands over him and his clothes turned to a more comfortable silk pajama set. He gently pulled the blankets out from underneath him and pulled them over him and left the room, but he left the door half open and called a blanket from his pocket dimensions and settled down on the couch with a yawn.
He tiredly looked through his phone and saw a missed call from Mobius. He thought about calling him back, but there was a good chance his Husband was asleep so he settled for a text. "Found Peter. I'm okay. He's okay now. People responsible are being taken care of. I should be home the day after tomorrow." He sent the message and rested the phone on the coffee table before he snuggled into
his own blankets. It had been so long since he had last really and truly stretched his Seidr like that. It was a little more tiring than he remembered...or maybe he was just out of shape.
